Carney toured the Canadian Forces Maritime Experimental and Test Ranges facility near Nanoose Bay, outside Nanaimo, with officials from the Canadian Navy. He toured the Royal Canadian Navy vessel Sikanni accompanied by Navy Commander Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee and Commanding Officer Craig Piccolo from the testing facility. Carney on Sunday met with B.C. Premier David Eby and officials from the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. The prime minister's visit to the province comes amid renewed tensions in the softwood lumber dispute with the U.S., which has placed anti-dumping duties on softwood products that the B.C. Council of Forest Industries has condemned as 'unjustified and punitive trade actions.'

Prince Edward Island inks trade deal with Manitoba
Prince Edward Island has signed another internal trade agreement with a prairie province, seeking to improve the flow of goods and services amid the ongoing tariff dispute with the United States. P.E.I. and Manitoba signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support the free movement of workers and businesses between the two provinces, according to a news release from P.E.I. Last month, P.E.I. signed a similar MOU with Saskatchewan. It has also inked agreements with Ontario and New Brunswick. 'PEI and Manitoba may be different in size and geography, but we share the same goals: a stronger economy, a mobile workforce, and a more efficient approach to interprovincial cooperation,' said P.E.I. Premier Rob Lantz in the release. P.E.I. exports of goods to Manitoba are valued at more than $22 million while the exports of services are valued at more than $6.7 million. Manitoba goods imports are valued at more than $42 million and services imports are valued at $18.4 million. The total trade between the two provinces is valued at more than $90 million. Disability advocate wants taxes removed for virtual services
Abigail Murphy has been trying to update the tax code to help people with disabilities avoid paying taxes for virtual services. Currently, taxes are exempt on services accessed in person, but that doesn't apply to virtual services, which are often easier to access. Murphy's previous petition was dissolved before getting a chance to be heard. She spoke to CBC K-W's Aastha Shetty about the efforts to give the petition another go.
