Rohit Sharma becomes second player in IPL history to hit 300 sixes
Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma became the second player and first Indian in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to hit 300 sixes. He completed the feat when he smashed 2 sixes against the Gujarat Titans in Friday's Eliminator match at the Mullanpur Stadium. The only player ahead of Rohit in the standings of the highest six hitters is Chris Gayle who has 357 maximums from 151 matches. Rohit is followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Virat Kohli.
This has been a season of records for Rohit with the Mumbai Indians talisman crossing the elusive 12,000 runs mark in the shortest format of the game in the Indian Premier League clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad last month. Coming in as an Impact Player for Mumbai in the final overs the SRH innings, Rohit opened the innings for Mumbai with Ryan Rickelton.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians match saw Rohit become only the second Indian player after Virat Kohli to reach the milestone of 12,000 runs in the shortest format. He is also the eighth batter overall to go past the 12000-run mark in T20s.
Sharma also became the highest six-hitter for Mumbai Indians in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
This season, Rohit has scored 368 runs in 14 innings for the Mumbai Indians at an average of 30.67. His most devastating innings came in a nine-wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, when he walloped their bowling attack for an unbeaten 76 off just 45 balls.
In a recent interview, he opened up about his batting style in the league.
'Main game nahi change karoonga! (I won't change my game!) The team has given me a role, I will continue playing that. Milestones wala game nahi hai mera (My game is not about chasing milestones). My focus is on contributing runs. Who doesn't like making runs? I certainly do! I've been repeating this for years now. Pareshaan ho chuka hoon (I'm tired) repeating this same answer. Of course I get disappointed when the runs don't come when you cannot contribute runs. You hurt when that happens.
'But I don't want to abandon my game. I know it's very risky, you will get out. But that doesn't mean I don't care that I am getting out or that I am not thinking about how I can contribute more runs to the team cause,' Rohit said in an interview with journalist Vimal Kumar.

The winner of this game will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final of the 18th edition of the cash-rich league on Tuesday, June 3, at the same venue. The Mumbai-based franchise will be eyeing their seventh IPL final after 2010, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, whereas the Shreyas Iyer-led side will be looking to enter the final for the second time after 2014. Mumbai Indians have won five titles so far (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020). On the other hand, the Punjab-based franchise will be looking to win its maiden title in the competition's history.
