Ex-employee, 3 juveniles among 7 held for dacoity
New Delhi: Police have apprehended seven people, including three juveniles, in connection with a dacoity at a hotel in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh during the early hours of May 29.
According to police, the heist was planned by a former housekeeping staff member of the hotel.
The accused, who was familiar with the hotel's operations, knew that substantial cash was often kept in the reception area.
The former employee allegedly recruited six associates to execute the plan. During the robbery, four men armed with daggers entered the premises of Hotel Saffron Golden, located on North Avenue Road, around 2 am, while three accomplices maintained surveillance outside.
There, they threatened the staff, stole approximately Rs 50,000 and several mobile phones, and fled the scene.
Investigations revealed that the robbers had arrived on two motorcycles. One of the intruders, dressed as a delivery person, had visited the hotel for reconnaissance about 30 minutes before the dacoity. Police also discovered that one of the motorcycles used by the suspects was reported stolen from Sudarshan Park, Moti Nagar, the previous night. Using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, cops managed to apprehend three suspects, including two juveniles.
