Haryana to allot land in 2,000 villages to support Prajapati potters: CM Saini
Under the Haryana Rural Industrial Scheme, Prajapatis will receive a 15% subsidy on machinery and building construction (B, C, D categories) to set up micro-enterprises. Additionally, a 7% annual interest subsidy on term loans—up to ₹8 lakh annually for seven years—will be provided.
Highlighting the cultural value of pottery, Saini said it reflects the skill and vision of the Prajapati community. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 19 development projects worth ₹234.38 crore in Bhiwani and announced ₹1.29 crore for community dharamshala works.
The CM emphasised the state's commitment to welfare schemes for the backward Class-A communities, including 8% Panchayati Raj representation, ₹51,000 Shagun for daughters' marriage, ₹4,000 annual aid under the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, and free coaching for competitive exams. The Mati Kala Board was also credited for promoting traditional clay artistry.

The Haryana Government Friday issued a notification for setting up the new Department of Future that will help look for new opportunities for the state's youth, and 'deliver effective solutions through rigorous research, forecasting and collaborative policy development'. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who also holds the Finance portfolio, gave the final nod for establishing the department, fulfilling his commitment made in the 2025-26 Haryana Budget. Following the Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh's assent, the government issued the notification. 'Governments of the 21st century must focus not only on present needs but also on future challenges. Haryana's administration will now base its policy-making on vision, data analysis, and technical expertise. The 'Department of Future' will lay a stronger foundation for the state's progress in the years ahead. Haryana's policies will henceforth address not only current requirements but also anticipate future challenges,' Saini said. The Haryana CM said the establishment of the Department of Future 'comes at a critical juncture', with climate change, technological revolutions, population growth, and global uncertainties presenting 'unprecedented challenges'. Detailing the objectives of this department, Saini said it will 'identify Haryana's social, economic and technological needs for the years ahead'. 'The department will focus on integrating cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, and Robotics into the policy-making process. It will also develop plans to equip the youth with future-ready skills. Its scope includes forecasting challenges in critical sectors like human resources, education, health, energy, agriculture, water, environment, and infrastructure, and preparing timely solutions accordingly,' he added. 'Additionally, the department aims to formulate long-term strategies by coordinating initiatives across all government departments. By analysing the social impact, opportunities, and risks associated with emerging technologies, it will provide evidence-based recommendations. This approach will not only strengthen Haryana's position in the global arena but also promote sustainable development and innovation-driven governance through the adoption of data intelligence and forecast modelling in planning'. Saini said the Department of Future will provide 'fresh direction and opportunities, particularly for the youth of Haryana'. 'In a rapidly changing world where traditional jobs and businesses are evolving, timely preparation of the youth will be the cornerstone of future policy. The 'Department of Future' will not only serve as a guiding force for the youth but will also play a decisive role in shaping policy decisions'.

Hardeep Singh Puri says India can secure oil even if Russian imports sanctioned. Here's how
Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Thursday that India is confident of meeting its oil needs from alternative sources if Russian supplies are hit by secondary sanctions. His statement came after US President Donald Trump warned that countries purchasing Russian exports could face sanctions if Moscow fails to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine within 50 days. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had earlier warned that some countries, including India, could be hit by the sanctions if they continued to do business with Russia. 'India should be able to deal with any problems with Russian imports by seeking supplies from other countries,' Puri was quoted by Reuters as saying. He further noted there are many new suppliers coming onto the market such as Guyana and supply from existing producers such as Brazil and Canada. Additionally, India is increasing exploration and production activities. "I'm not worried at all. If something happens, we'll deal with it," Puri said at an industry event in New Delhi. "India has diversified the sources of supply and we have gone, I think, from about 27 countries that we used to buy from to about 40 countries now," he said. Responding to Rutte's comments, India's foreign ministry spokesperson said that securing energy needs was an "overriding priority" for the country, in which it was guided by what was on offer in markets and the "prevailing global circumstances". "We would particularly caution against any double standards on the matter," spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told a regular media briefing. India's oil imports from Russia rose marginally in the first half of this year, with private refiners Reliance Industries Ltd and Nayara Energy making about half of the overall purchases from Moscow. Russia continued to be the top supplier to India, accounting for about 35% of India's overall supplies, followed by Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates, the data showed. In case Russian supplies are hit, Indian Oil Corp will "go back to the same template (of supplies) as was used pre-Ukraine crisis when Russian supplies to India were below 2%," company Chairman A.S. Panchayati raj ministry holds workshop on spatial development plan for villages
Agency: New Delhi, Jul 17 (PTI) The Panchayati Raj Ministry on Thursday said it has brought together 19 partner institutes of planning and architecture to prepare spatial development plans for 36 gram panchayats across 14 states as a pilot project. A two-day workshop in this regard, titled 'Navingram –� Re-Imagining the Village', commenced in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal on Thursday, the ministry said in a statement. A Gram Panchayat Spatial Development Plan (GPSDP) is a comprehensive plan that guides the physical and spatial development of a gram panchayat. It outlines how land should be used, what infrastructure should be built, and how development should be managed to achieve social and economic goals. 'Spatial development plans must be realistic, sustainable and aimed at empowering gram panchayats to become self-reliant," an official statement quoted Panchayati Raj Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj as saying while delivering the keynote address at the workshop. Bharadwaj stressed on panchayats generating their own revenue. 'We must include strategies to enhance the panchayats' own revenue generation, and ensure that village development becomes a model of self-sufficiency and innovation," he said. According to the statement, the ministry will create a valuable knowledge repository for Panchayati Raj transformation. 'The initiative reflects the evolution from traditional village development approaches to scientifically designed spatial planning methodologies that integrate modern planning principles with Panchayati Raj governance structures," it said. The workshop witnessed participation from elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions from the spatial planning gram panchayats, officers from Departments of Panchayati Raj in various states, faculty and students from planning and architecture institutes, Town and Country Planning Department officials, and government agencies, the statement said. 'The workshop emphasises the critical importance of Own Sources of Revenue (OSR) generation and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships in creating financially sustainable gram panchayats that can effectively implement their spatial development plans," it said. The partner institutes will make presentations, showcasing the enhanced GPSDPs prepared for the 36 gram panchayats. The institutes will also present land use plans based on land suitability analysis, and propose physical and social infrastructure interventions envisioned for the next 7-�10 years, aligned with projected population growth in these gram panchayats. Alok Prem Nagar, Joint Secretary to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, delivered comprehensive insights on spatial planning for rural areas and the way forward, highlighting the ministry's strategic interventions and innovative approaches. Principal Secretary in Panchayati Raj Department of Madhya Pradesh, Dipali Rastogi highlighted that Bilkisganj and Murvas gram panchayats in the state are progressing well with their comprehensive spatial planning implementation. Five more gram panchayats will adopt similar approaches with complete support from the state's Panchayati Raj Department, Rastogi said.
