Andy Carroll and Lou Teasdale 'spark fears their relationship won't last as friends dismiss it as holiday romance' - after footballer was questioned by Greek police over holiday bust-ups

Daily Mail4 hours ago

Friends of Andy Carroll and Lou Teasdale are reportedly predicting the couple's romance won't last upon their arrival in the UK, after the footballer announced he was moving back to England.
The former England star, 36, made a major decision last week about his football career and family, announcing he has left his club in Bordeaux after one season to 'return home' to be closer to his children.
But it has been reported that those close to him are fearful that the move will cause his relationship with Lou, 41, to fall apart.
The couple haven't hesitated to flaunt their romance on social media, share a slew of loved-up snaps together from their recent sun-soaked getaways to Ibiza and Greece.
However, according to The Sun, their friends think it is just a 'holiday romance' and that their differences will become too obvious to ignore when they return home and are faced with 'reality'.
A source told the publication: 'There are genuine fears that Andy and Lou won't last when they return to the UK.
'Their relationship has effectively been a big holiday romance, and they are going to be seriously tested when returning to reality.
'Andy has clearly made it his priority to be closer to his children. While that is admirable, things might not be the same for him and fun-loving Lou back in the UK.'
Andy shares children Arlo, eight, Wolf, five, and Marvel Mae with estranged wife Billi Mucklow and Emilie Rose, 15, and Lucas, 14, from a past relationship - all of five of whom Billi has been raising back home.
The insider said that Lou's influencer job and love of travelling means she's always on the move, meaning her lifestyle would be at odds with Andy home life and claiming the chances of the relationship working at home were 'very much up in the air'.
It comes just days after Andy was reportedly questioned twice by Greek police over a series of bust-ups with Lou, during their holiday in Mykonos this month.
According to the Sun on Sunday, the athlete and the make-up artist had several disagreements at a restaurant and at their hotel.
Speaking about the first incident between the couple, a worker at the Nikolus Tavern told the Sun: 'He seemed very drunk and furious with his partner.
'He was using very bad words. It was improper behaviour. The woman looked very upset.'
According to the restaurant worker, police arrived and took the ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and England striker aside for a chat, before he was later allowed back to girlfriend Lou.
'Police spoke to him. He was allowed to return, and the couple left after paying for their meal. Andy was very calm when the police arrived — he stood up and spoke to them outside the restaurant', the restaurant worker added.
Just hours later, cops were called again by hotel staff following reports of damage in their room.
MailOnline understands that the former England forward - once Britain's most expensive Premier League footballer when bought by Liverpool from Newcastle for £35million - was taken to the police station for questioning, but he was not arrested and no further action was taken.
The incident was confirmed by a hotel employee, who claimed Andy broke the door. That night, Lou left the hotel and spent the night at Soho Roc House.
A joint statement from the couple given to The Sun said: 'Whilst having a private dinner in a restaurant on a quiet holiday in Mykonos, we had a heated discussion of the sort that most couples have had on occasion.
'It quickly became apparent to the police that there was no reason for them to be there.
'We went outside the restaurant with them together as they insisted they wanted to 'look after' us.
They then explained that 'no one was arrested or charged' and they are 'happy, in love and looking forward to their future'.
It comes only a month after rumours that Andy is planning to propose to the former One Direction hair stylist once his divorce from ex-TOWIE star Billi was finalised.
A source told The Sun: 'Lou is already telling her mates they have discussed marriage and Andy thinks he's met his soulmate.
'Their connection is so strong, he has never felt like this before, he definitely wants to put a ring on it. It's been a whirlwind romance for both of them. But they're playing for keeps.'
Another friend of the loved-up couple told the publication: 'Andy is very close to proposing to Lou. They are madly in love.
'She is spending as much time as she can with him in France and Andy has never been happier.
'Lou is exactly what he needs because she is a calming influence on him and it's noticeable the change she's had on him to everyone around them. He's been telling friends his divorce can't come quick enough.'
Andy and Lou revealed their relationship just weeks after the former Liverpool striker and his TOWIE star ex Billi confirmed their split last September after secretly separating earlier in the year.
Andy and Billi called it quits after 11 years together and less than two years after tying the knot.
In 2022, their wedding was almost called off when Andy was pictured drunkenly passed out in bed with two women in Dubai on his stag do, but Billi forgave him after one of the women insisted nothing sexual happened.
But last year, Andy confirmed the marriage was over and that they had started divorce proceedings after 'a hard few months for our family'.
He said in a statement at the time: 'Billi and I have privately separated earlier this year and we are under way with our divorce proceedings'.
'It has been a hard few months for our family and we continue to move forward amicably for our children.'

Brit Jack Draper showed he was born to star at Wimbledon with 100-shot rally when he was FIVE years old

JACK DRAPER first showed he was 'born for the big stage' with a 100-shot rally aged just FIVE. On Friday morning, the British No 1 will learn his potential path to a Wimbledon final as he aims to follow in the footsteps of two-time winner Andy Murray. 1 Draper, 23, has soared to No 4 in the world rankings following a stellar year on court, which saw him crowned Indian Wells champion in March. His success comes as no surprise to his former coach Justin Sherring — the man who nurtured his talent at the Weybridge Tennis Academy. And it was one particular passage of play over the net as a kid which caught the eye. Sherring told SunSport: 'I coached Jack from the age of five to 15. His dad was the CEO of the Lawn Tennis Association and I knew his mum. 'His brother, who is now his agent, also came to the academy. I could see Jack was talented straight away. I had a 100-shot rally with him when he was only five years old. 'He used the whole of the court and just loved playing. Amazing hand-eye coordination — the best I have seen. He also had a massive desire to win. 'I used to make sure I beat him and he always wanted to carry on playing, as he didn't want to lose. I used to tell him to come back tomorrow and try to beat me. He had a huge passion for the game and wanted to keep learning. 'He was always so competitive, with great focus and also a hunger to improve his game. I've coached a lot of kids but what stood out was his dedication and drive. I'm not surprised by the success he has had. He looks born for the big stage.' Draper reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year in New York and warmed up for Wimbledon with a run to the last four at Queen's. He was struggling with tonsillitis when he was beaten by Czech ace Jiri Lehecka in the semi-finals in London last weekend — and ended up smashing an advertising board in anger. But that incident aside, Sherring thinks Draper can thrive on the pressure of carrying the hopes of a nation at SW19. He added: 'It's very tough with the demands on tour, the way he has come through challenges to get to where he is now is very impressive. 'Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are up there as the favourites but Jack has shown he can compete with them. If he settles in nicely at Wimbledon, with the crowd behind him, he can be dangerous. 'He has already been to the final there as a junior. Jack has no fear and certainly has the game to go a long way in the tournament. 'It is only a matter of time before he wins a Grand Slam. I was at Indian Wells when he went all the way for an amazing win, you could see the belief he had. 'He has been able to adapt his game very well. He played a lot on clay as a junior but has been able to adapt to playing on different surfaces. 'If he gets into the right state of mind at Wimbledon, he will be a very difficult opponent. It can go either way when you have the pressure of playing in a home Grand Slam. Jack can certainly use it to his advantage.' John McEnroe says he first became aware of Draper nearly a decade ago when the Brit, a foot shorter than his current 6ft 4in frame, attended his US academy. Wimbledon Ticket Options There are a range of ways to get into Wimbledon as one of the only major sporting events in the world that offer sought-after tickets on the day of the event... The Queue As one of the only major sporting events that allows guests to purchase tickets on the day of the event, demand is high. Each day a large queue forms of people wanting either a Grounds or Show Court ticket - with many even arriving the night before and camping to guarantee a place. Upon arrival, visitors are issued a Queue Card, which is numbered and dated and should be kept until a ticket has been purchased. While there is a limited number of entries, it is possible to remain in the queue and wait for people already inside to leave, with those tickets then becoming available. It is also possible to check the status of the queue on the Wimbledon website. This year, organisers are asking potential queuers to download the Wimbledon app and create a myWimbledon account. Show Tickets If you get to the front of the queue, then there are a limited number of tickets available for purchase for Centre Court and Courts 1, 2 and 3. Note that Centre Court tickets are available for the first 10 days of the tournament, the final four days were already pre-sold. Prices vary depending on the Court, seat and day of the event and will increase the further into the tournament you visit. For example, Centre Court rows A-T cost £105 on Day 1 and £315 on Day 14 (men's final). Grounds Pass A Grounds Pass costs £30 and allows visitors to watch matches on Courts 3-18 on unreserved seats, though there will also be a queue to get into Court 3. Ticket Resale From 3pm each day, tickets may become available from people who have left Wimbledon and made their seat available. A Grounds Pass is needed to join the virtual queue on the Wimbledon App. Tickets cost £15 for Centre Court or £10 for Courts 1/2. Hospitality There are a range of hospitality packages still available on the Wimbledon website. Hospitality packages offer guaranteed premium seating to major matches as well as fine dining experiences, complimentary drinks, a shuttle and concierge service. Hospitality packages can also be purchased via Seat Unique. Secondary Markets Sites such as StubHub offer tickets for the main courts for specific days and times. *Please note that StubHub and similar secondary ticket resale sites may list tickets above face value.* The American tennis legend — a seven-time Major-winner — said: 'Jack was 14. He was like 5ft 1in or something. 'So, he had to work on everything. He obviously had a lot of talent. 'I'm not sure how tall his mum is. Or exactly how tall his dad is. I didn't see that happening where, oh, my God, Jesus Christ, this guy's now a physical specimen. 'Jack's really developed into a force. He's seeded No 4 so to me he's the fourth favourite without a doubt. He's absolutely put himself in the mix. He's put himself in a great position. He doesn't have to deal with Sinner or Alcaraz until the semis, that's all you can ask for.' Draper — who is now over his bout of tonsillitis — faced Denmark's Holger Rune yesterday in an exhibition match at the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic in Hurlingham, South-West London. After taking a set each, Draper won the deciding tiebreak 10-4. And ahead of today's SW19 main draw at 10am, the Londoner said: 'There are a lot of British players and talent, it's really exciting. 'I will compete hard. It's a great opportunity. I feel good and prepped. I feel strong and ready. At this level, everyone's a great player and everyone can challenge people, even the best players in the world. 'My mindset is whoever I play against I'll have the utmost respect for. They're in the draw for a reason, they're going to be dangerous. 'They're going to want to come out and swing against a guy who's a home player and who's highly ranked. I know whoever I play in the first round is going to be an incredibly tough match but I'll be ready for that. 'It's going to be a privilege to play as the British No 1 and that's what I've always wanted. I've wanted to make Centre Court or Wimbledon my environment and I'm looking forward to hopefully starting that.'

Phyllis Logan's puzzling whodunnit is like a spoof of Midsomer Murders, says RONALD WHITE

Murder Most Puzzling - Channel 5 About halfway through Murder Most Puzzling, actor Adam Best delivered what is surely the most whodunnit line ever: 'This is DI Hooper. A body has been found in the library.' Found? You'd have to be Chief Inspector Clouseau to have missed it. The bloodied corpse dropped from the balcony during amateur detective Cora Felton's birthday party — straight on top of the giant cake. But never mind the death, a bigger mystery was the party itself. Inspector Hooper's main job in this series is to look cross while telling Cora to mind her own business. Why would he organise her birthday party? And how do you slit a hard-bitten private investigator's throat and heave him over a balcony into a room full of police officers without anybody noticing? Murder Most Puzzling has been compared with the BBC 's hit Ludwig, mainly because Cora — like David Mitchell 's character — is a famous crossword compiler. But that's where the resemblance ends. Crosswords and logic are how Ludwig solves crimes, posing as his identical twin brother. There is also something darker lurking in the background, not to mention the suggestion that Ludwig fancies his sister-in-law. We only knew Phyllis Logan's Cora was a famous puzzler in this episode because everybody kept mentioning it. She could just as well be a celebrity chef. Her red specs were straight out of the Prue Leith eyewear range. This six-parter has none of the subtlety of Ludwig. Sometimes it was like watching a spoof episode of Midsomer Murders. There were some clever twists, but far too much seemed far too unlikely. It's a waste of Phyllis Logan, and at two hours, it's much too long (by contrast, the BBC's Death Valley is only 45 minutes). In last night's episode, Cora was hired to clear the name of a man in prison for killing his girlfriend. I don't want to give too much away, but the mayor of Bakerbury (Richard Croxford) could not have been a more obvious villain if he had a duelling scar, sported a twirly moustache, and stroked a white cat. Cora confronted him alone in his office, and it's a miracle she survived long enough to do this. Her preferred method of solving crimes seems to be meeting suspects in circumstances of obvious danger and asking if they've killed anybody recently. At least she had a gun when confronting one killer, who was caught in the act. Who knew crossword compilers were routinely armed? She also managed to force her way into the office of Mr Peacock, the rather limp governor of Bakerbury Prison and an early suspect, by bribing the guards with biscuits. Presumably, these guards were sacked following this outrageous security breach — and immediately recruited by RAF Brize Norton.
