Shake Shack burgers have a new sidekick: crunchy fried pickles
These aren't your run-of-the-mill pickle chips. Shake Shack is using its own proprietary-brined pickles, sliced thin, coated just right, seasoned like a pro and fried until crispy and golden. Every bite hits that perfect sweet spot between tangy and salty, with a crunch that can't be stopped. Dunk one in their house-made ranch (or Shack Sauce if you're wild), and you're tasting snack heaven.
Pickles have long played the humble co-star in Shack burgers, but now they're taking the lead. This new side is built for dipping, with plenty of crunch to stand alone. The best part? These fried pickles are a steal. The new side rolls out nationwide starting May 20, and prices start at just $3.99. It's the perfect accompaniment to Shake Shack's newly-launched summer BBQ menu.

Cat Deeley 'terrified' over shooter scare that prompted UK return before marriage split
Cat Deeley has spoken on occasion about her husband Patrick Kielty and one of their sons having been caught up in a shooter scare in a shopping mall when they lived in the US Presenter Cat Deeley said that her husband Patrick Kielty and one of their sons getting caught up in a shooter scare was a "catalyst" for them deciding to leave the US. They later moved back to the UK after the "terrifying" incident. Cat, 48, and Patrick, 54, who announced their separation this week, returned to London with their two children back in 2020. The former couple, who have been married since 2012, had previously lived in Los Angeles for years. The family's relocation is said to have been prompted by Patrick and their eldest son Milo, who was three at the time, ending up in a "really scary" situation, with Cat's comments about the experience resurfacing recently. It comes amid the news that Cat found moving back to London "really hard" despite her having concerns about her life in LA. Cat spoke about the mall incident in an interview published in 2019. Speaking to the Telegraph just "a month or so" after it happened, she said: "They had been in a Shake Shack in Century City Mall and there was a shooter scare." She said that people were told to lie behind the counter or "pushed" into toilets, adding that there was screaming and crying in the mall. Cat continued by telling the outlet: "Then as they were all hiding, the FBI turned up with guns." Cat added: "Paddy kept Milo calm – he didn't really know what was going on – and in the end it just turned out to be a suspect package but …" She's said to have shook her head before saying that her three-year-old had experienced that. She's since spoken on the incident on other occasions too, including in an interview with You magazine in 2020. She recalled: "They shut down the centre. I got a call from Paddy, saying, 'They're taking us out through the fire exits but nobody can get to their car. If we walk to a junction, can you come and get us?'" Cat said that she hadn't understood the "enormity" of the situation as her husband was trying to keep their son calm, adding that he distracted him with Peppa Pig on his phone. She said: "As I was driving I began to see helicopters, news vans, firemen and SWAT squads." She described the situation as "terrifying" but said her son "didn't properly understand". Speaking on ITV 's Lorraine later that year, Cat said that the incident contributed to them returning to the UK. She said: "It was kind of the catalyst." She said: "[Paddy] and Milo were stuck in a shopping centre [and] I had to go and pick them up." Cat then continued: "I didn't know quite where they were. There was helicopters and police vans and news crews. It was terrifying, for me. [...] Everybody was y'know safe and fine, it was completely okay but it was terrifying for me." She however shared that the couple had "always" planned to move their kids to the UK at some point, so that they could be closer to grandparents and other relatives. Cat said: "It's such a special moment in time and you don't get those times back again. So we had always thought we would bring them back here so they could know everybody in the family and friends." And speaking to the Sunday Times last year, Cat said that she found the experience to be "really scary". The outlet reported that there had been rumours of a shooter in the area but that it turned out to be over a suspect package. Cat commented: "I found that really scary." She added in the interview: "Then we'd go to look at schools and they say, 'This is the safe room and this is the drill if we have a live shooter on the premises.' It was very, very difficult."

Shake Shack's newest menu items are '2025's best fast food'...but they're only here for a limited time
Shake Shack is celebrating National Hot Dog Day early with its first-ever Dog Days hot dog menu. The restaurant chain's lineup of limited-time $4.99 to $7.99 Flat Top Dogs has left fans and experts impressed. Described as this year's 'best fast food,' Shake Shack's latest offerings are the Angus Beef Chili, Angus Beef Chili Cheese, Classic, Crispy Onion Cheese, Fried Pickle, and High Heat dogs. The menu also comes with another limited-time special, two classic or limited-time hot dogs for $8 now through August 11. Shake Shack has been coming for fast food empires all year since announcing its plans to open at least 1,500 new restaurants. Despite being dubbed the nation's most expensive fast-food chain, prices aren't stopping social media users from planning to try every hot dog on the menu. 'Oh man I am a sucker for some great hotdogs!,' food blogger Snackbetch wrote on Instagram. 'Only makes sense since shake shack started as a hot dog business,' another person responded. The Fried Pickle hot dog is a popular must-have offering social media users have been excited to try. Topped with fried pickles, bacon and cheese, food critic Bailey Fink of Allrecipes insisted the pickles are what took the offering 'up another notch.' She also enjoyed the High Heat Dog, which features cheddar and American cheese with a blend of cayenne, garlic and paprika topped with peppers. 'It's the perfect balance of heat with a good amount of cheese to cool things off — and it has a nice crunch from the actual peppers themselves,' she wrote. Instagrammers were also 'highly intrigued' with the Angus dogs, mainly because of the chili. Fink admitted the Angus Beef Chili Cheese Dog ended up being her favorite, calling the chili 'absolutely incredible.' 'The flavor is delicious and I love it with the cheese,' the expert revealed. The only thing Fink would change about the Angus dog is removing onions and replacing them with the same peppers featured in the High Heat. Shake Shack is on the small side compared to its competitors with over 500 locations worldwide. It's on track to open 80 to 85 units in the US this year, and its first loyalty program got off the ground in May. When its burgers aren't in restaurants, they can be found on plates served to first-class Delta fliers. After debuting on flights departing from Boston, the burgers have made their way to other planes flying out of Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York-LaGuardia, and Seattle's airports. Unlike its major competitors, Shake Shack's first quarter revenue this year grew by 10.5 percent to $320.9 million. The chain's results came around the same time McDonald's suffered a 3.6 percent sales drop, and Burger King's North American sales dipped 1.3 percent.

A Michelin star London restaurant has created a burger for Shake Shack
Marylebone 's very tasty AngloThai is getting stuck into fast food. For one day only, the Michelin star restaurant is collab-ing with Shake Shack to release a special, limited edition burger. Its skilled head chef and co-founder John Chantarasak has created the special menu item by artfully bringing together an Aberdeen Angus beef burger fried in red curry paste, which is then topped with ox tongue glazed in scallop roe and smoked chilli jam, before some wild garlic and green olive purée is added, alongside som tam infused pickles. Gosh. The whole thing is served on a toasted potato bun brushed with spiced honey butter. It'll be available on July 11 at the Covent Garden branch of Shake Shack only, from 12pm until they sell out. You'll also be able to order some laab spiced fries; crinkle cut fries seasoned with a laab spice blend, and topped with fermented yellow soybean mayonnaise and wild garlic sweet chilli relish. AngloThai opened at the end of 2024, and won its first Michelin star within months of launching. The restaurant fuses Thai flavours with British, seasonal ingredients. Time Out gave it a glowing five star review, and praised its 'reimagining [of] some of Thailand's most celebrated dishes via the lens of fastidious fine dining'. 'As a long-time admirer of Shake Shack, I'm thrilled to be creating my very own burger and fries that showcase the bold flavours and ingredients we like to cook with on our menus at AngloThai,' says Chantarasak. 'I'm a big fan of the mustard-fried burger technique seen in America and wanted to take inspiration from this by frying beef fat red curry paste into the burger patty as it sizzles on the plancha, giving a rich and warming flavour to the meat. I'm also grilling slices of beef tongue and glazing them in a Thai-style chilli jam made from roasted chillies and smoked scallop roes, giving the burger deep umami and celebrating a lesser used, but very delicious cut of beef.' Net proceeds from the sales of the AngloThai burger and fries will go towards north London food charity and agroecological farm, Grow.
