TAMBURINS Launches BLUE HINOKI Collection Pop-Up Store Featuring Byeon Woo-seok

Hype Malaysia18-07-2025
Fragrance brand TAMBURINS, known for exploring anomalous beauties, has launched a new perfume collection, 'BLUE HINOKI', and is running a pop-up store in Seongsu-dong, Seoul from now to 27th July to commemorate the release.
Following the successful exclusive Korean premiere of the opera performance 'Sun & Sea' on 24th June, hosted solely by TAMBURINS, the pop-up space spanning the first and second floors, which was originally set up for the performance, has been transformed into a multisensory space immersing visitors in the BLUE HINOKI collection.
It features products from the collection along with sand art installations using various objects and textures to visualise the fragrance.
A large-scale campaign image, created through a collaboration between actor Byeon Woo-seok and world-renowned photographer Zet Swan, is installed on the building's exterior, capturing the attention of passersby.
The third floor, in particular, recreates the room of Byeon Woo-seok as seen in the [BLUE HINOKI] campaign video released in June.
This immersive experience allows visitors to fully step into the world of the collection, making the location a must-visit spot for both local and international fans.
The 'Egg Perfume Rattan Wear', available exclusively at the BLUE HINOKI pop-up store — the only offline location where it is sold — has generated high demand, with long queues forming from day one.
To celebrate the pop-up opening, various on-site promotions are being offered.
Visitors are given a 'Sand Dome Mini' as a gift on a first-come, first-served basis, and customers who purchase over a certain amount will receive a 'Mini Perfume Vinyl' and a 'Sand Dome Large,' the latter being a limited-edition item available only at the Seongsu pop-up.
All promotional gifts are limited in quantity and will only be available while supplies last.
At the opening event, actor Byeon Woo-seok, the face of the BLUE HINOKI campaign, made a special appearance, further elevating the atmosphere.
Dressed in the same white shirt and pants from the campaign video, he created a seamless link between the campaign's concept and reality, captivating the crowd on-site.
The TAMBURINS BLUE HINOKI pop-up store will be open until 27th July and is expected to continue drawing visitors who wish to experience the brand's newest fragrance in a truly special way.

(Video) Colgate Malaysia Teases Collaboration With K-pop Icon IU; Is She Coming To KL?

These brands do love to tease fans when it comes to collaborations with Korean stars – not that we're complaining, of course. Recently, several companies have been teasing their partnerships with idol groups and actors ahead of official announcements to build excitement. These promotions are clearly doing the trick, as fans are almost always able to guess the mystery collaborators based on nothing more than a silhouette. And now, it seems one singer could be making her way to Malaysia very soon. Who is she? Let's find out. Over the weekend, oral hygiene brand Colgate Malaysia posted a video on social media teasing a future collaboration with a K-pop icon. The clip featured a female singer dressed in purple, posing for the cameras with her face obscured, revealing only her smile. 'The queen of K-pop is about to spill her secret beauty hack for a radiant smile 😁✨ Any guesses? Coming your way soon. Stay tuned!' the brand wrote in the captions. If the smile wasn't already a clear giveaway, the hint 'Queen of K-pop' certainly is, as there's only one person known by that title. As expected, fans flocked to the comments section to share their guesses, but the majority had one name in mind: none other than IU (아이유). Not only is she celebrated as a gifted singer-songwriter, but she's also an accomplished actress, having recently won Best Actress at the Blue Dragon Series Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards for her role in 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'. While Colgate Malaysia's teaser is certainly exciting, there has been no confirmation or indication, at the time of writing, that IU will be making a special appearance in Malaysia. Still, that hasn't stopped fans from urging the brand to invite the icon back to Malaysia for an event. The last time IU was here, she performed at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil back in 2024 and even handed out snacks to fans upon her arrival at KLIA. We personally would love to see IU again, but for now, we'll have to wait for the official announcements for more details about this collaboration. Watch the teaser below: Source: Instagram

King of K-pop

THE year was 2018 when G-Dragon withdrew himself from the spotlight. Upon the release of his solo, self-titled album Kwon Ji Yong, he enlisted in the military, and the King of K-pop took a break from his solo activities to fulfil his mandatory national service as well as explore other pursuits. Seven years is a long time, more so in the ultra-fluid and now, after seven years, G-Dragon returns to reclaim his throne with the release of his third album and current world tour Ubermensch. For a change, Malaysia was not left out of the tour itinerary and fans got to experience the 36-year-old's electrifying brand of pop at the Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil. The Korean superstar performed melodies across his catalogue for over 20,000 attendees in celebration of his musical renaissance. Evening of passion He may not have performed much these past few years, but G-Dragon very much maintained his calibre on stage. The Big Bang's rapper-in-chief innate ability to put on a great show shone throughout the whole evening. Attendees were occupied with electrifying performances of fan favourites. From songs off of his 2012 EP One of a Kind to Ubermensch, G-Dragon consistently delivered powerful vocals, strong stage charisma and relentless energy. His performance of Today was particularly memorable as he got on a signature bloom lift. The flexibility to move back and forth above the crowd created a thrilling and personal interaction with fans. Home Sweet Home and Butterfly were other noteworthy performances. While band members Taeyang and Daesung were not able to join him in person for Home Sweet Home, their futuristic holograms were enough to create a commotion. Whereas the latter, a ballad from his debut album Heartbreaker, balanced out the high-energetic numbers off the set-list. Additionally, G-Dragon's interpolations and covers of popular songs such as Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us and Maroon 5's This Love were a delightful surprise. The rapper breathed new life into them as he presented them in the Korean language. Visual impact The concert's visuals and props were other aspects that did not disappoint. For the tour, G-Dragon embodied the German philosophy Ubermensch, which describes an individual who surpasses themselves and conventional morality for self-improvement. G-Dragon believes this to be reflective of his own journey of self-discovery and artistic evolution. The concert, therefore, incorporated various futuristic elements to convey themes of self-transcendence, reinvention and artistic liberation. Whether it was the stage designs or elaborate lighting, the evening was a multi-sensory spectacle for audiences. As for G-Dragon himself, these elements strengthened his presence on stage, amplifying the nature of his songs and performing style. Though he did not dance much, his creative use of stage effects and props still worked its magic in drawing audiences in. His fashion choices did a number too. The stylings were a clever play on high-fashion and streetwear. Take his red rose applique jacket and knight look, for instance. The pairings were bold, refreshing and presented something new. Personal updates In the midst of the fun and excitement, G-Dragon did allocate some time to be personal too. Given his break from the spotlight, the Crayon hitmaker explained to fans the reasons behind his hiatus in a confessional video. He admitted to being burnt out after years of non-stop hustling. This time around, he aims to keep things focused, ensuring he stays true to his artistry. The crowd got a little too excited when he proceeded to tease Big Bang's comeback. The group, according to him, will reunite in line with its upcoming 20th anniversary next year. Updates on new music and tour, however, was not confirmed. Speaking of Big Bang, the group's memorable hits did not manage to secure a spot on the set list. This may have been a letdown for fans who were expecting him to. Contrary to his fellow member Daesung, who was in town previously, G-Dragon solely focused on delivering his solo material. This sentiment, however, feels irrelevant on the whole. The show was a dream come true for fans who have long awaited his return. While it may have been a long haul, the evening's performances made up for lost time.
