NSS Awardee discusses One Nation, One Election with President
Mr. Bharath is a member of the Samvidhaan Support Group, an initiative established by the young achievers of India to advocate for electoral reforms, particularly the implementation of One Nation, One Election.
Hailing from Kandikapula Village in Anantapur district, Mr. Bharath was part of a delegation that included several prominent National Youth and NSS awardees. The group met the President to present their views and submit a memorandum supporting the idea of simultaneous elections across the country.
The Samvidhaan Support Group has actively campaigned for this cause by engaging with over 320 Members of Parliament, organising a massive signature campaign that garnered support from lakhs of young citizens, and conducting impactful events, including a one-day hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, and a peaceful protest march to the Parliament of India involving over 2,000 young participants.
The group also submitted 112 signed request letters from National Youth Awardees and NSS national awardees to the President.
Mr. Bharath on Saturday (August 16) said he emphasised the significance of One Nation, One Election in addressing key issues such as policy paralysis, high election costs, the misuse of illicit liquor and drugs, circulation of black money, excessive time spent on political campaigning, and voter fatigue. He also highlighted how this reform could strengthen administrative efficiency, improve governance, and boost economic activities.
The President of India responded positively to the delegation's efforts and expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by the Samvidhaan Support Group toward this national cause.

Delhi: Protests continue over SC order on dogs
Protesters gathered at Central Park near India Gate on Saturday evening against the Supreme Court's recent order to shift all street dogs in the city to shelters. Animal lovers during a protest against the recent order by the Supreme Court to authorities in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) to start picking up stray dogs from all localities and relocate the animals to dog shelters, at Connaught Place(PTI) Protesters, largely animal rights activists and dog lovers, said they had assembled around 6pm with banners and were assaulted by Delhi Police personnel at the site. 'Security personnel came to us and asked us to leave. All the exits of Central Park were shut and only one exit gate was open. While we were leaving through the only exit gate, they started assaulting us, even women. We were stuffed inside a few buses and later released at Jantar Mantar and Jhandewalan at around 7–7.30pm,' Divya Puri, co-founder of the Karan Puri Foundation, said. Purported videos circulated on social media by the group showed uniformed officials hitting protesters and dragging them into buses. Activists said women were also subjected to verbal abuse and assault. 'The protesters were gathered peacefully. The police deployment was as much as the people gathered there. They abused and assaulted us and tried to tear our clothes. Is gathering peacefully also banned now?' asked Tarana Singh, another activist. A senior Delhi Police officer, meanwhile, said holding protests inside Central Park is prohibited and the gathering had no permission to do so. The protesters allegedly charged at officers first and the police retaliated, the officer added. An FIR under Section 223 (disobedience of order by a public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered against the protesters, the fifth such case in connection with similar demonstrations. Deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla said Section 163 (issuing orders in urgent cases of nuisance) of the BNSS has been imposed in New Delhi area because of the ongoing parliament session. 'We are bound by law to take action when there is a protest at places which are not designated for protests,' he said. When asked about videos of a female sub-inspector hitting a protester inside a detention bus, the first officer claimed that an inquiry was initiated and it was found that the protester had struck first, following which the SI retaliated.

Bharath asks Kurnool AMC to work for development of market
Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath asked the newly sworn-in members of the Agriculture Market Committee (AMC) to work for the development of the market in Kurnool. Mr. Bharath was participating in the swearing-in ceremony of AMC Chairperson Golconda Azmath Bee, Vice-Chairperson Seshagiri Shetty and other directors of the committee on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the posts of AMC Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Directors had been sold for money in the past. 'I am not a person who sells posts' for money. I had promised to honour the leaders and cadre who work hard and appointing Azmath Bee as the Chairperson stands as an example,' Mr Bharath asserted. The Minister said that some people with vested interests were trying to distance Muslims from him, but he treated all communities, castes and religion equally. 'Azmath Bee, a Muslim woman, getting this post is an example of that,' he said. Mr. Bharath said he always renders justice to the cadre and leaders who work with him. Mr. Bharath reiterated that the NDA government is focussing on both development and welfare and the continuation of the government for two decades will fulfil all the aspirations of the people of the State.
