Mysuru DC assures swift action to resolve farmers' issues

Mysuru: Deputy commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy on Thursday assured that
farmers' issues
will be resolved on top priority.
Chairing the district-level farmers' grievance redressal meeting held at zilla panchayat hall, the DC instructed the district lead bank to distribute
crop loans
to farmers without any delay.
He also emphasised collecting interest as per Reserve Bank of India guidelines from farmers who borrowed loans after pledging gold ornaments. The nationalised banks must stop collecting hefty interest from farmers on such borrowings, as they pledge such valuables for sowing, purchasing seeds, and other agricultural activities, he stated.
He directed the agriculture department officials to ensure distribution of quality seeds and fertilisers.
He also instructed them to book cases against agencies and shops found selling spurious seeds and fertilisers to farmers.
He further directed the officials to complete the
Jal Jeevan Mission
works to ensure round-the-clock supply of drinking water to all rural households through tap water connections, without giving any room for complaints of corruption and irregularities. The DC also gave directions to maintain reverse osmosis plants installed across the district to ensure safer drinking water.
When members of the state sugarcane growers association demanded the DC to ensure proper functioning of
sugar mills
in the district, the official said the Srirama Cooperative Sugar Factory of Chunchanakatte in KR Nagar taluk would open this year and start crushing activities this season. Bannari Amman Sugar Limited will start crushing sugarcane from next month, he informed.
The farmers' leaders also demanded the DC to initiate measures for the extension of Fasal Bima crop insurance cover to all horticulture crops, clear encroachments of lakes, conduct soil tests in all Krishi Samparka Kendras, among several other demands.
Deputy conservator of forests (Mysuru Circle) KN Basavaraju said the forest department also initiated measures for the improvement of planting trees and saplings on roadsides, as well as other afforestation and social forestry activities in the district.
Superintendent of police N Vishnuvardhana, zilla panchayat deputy secretaries M Krishnaraju and Savitha, and joint director of agriculture M Ravi were present.

Advt District minister Satish Jarkiholi announced that chief minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects in Belagavi next month. These include a Rs 200 crore flyover, a Rs 55 crore deputy commissioner's office complex, and a Rs 10 crore Patrika Bhavan for the media media persons on Friday, Jarkiholi detailed the scope of the flyover project, which will span 4.5 km from Sankam Hotel in Gandhi Nagar to Bogarves, passing through Ashok Circle, RTO Circle, Channamma Circle, and College Road. Jarkiholi also highlighted the urgent need for a new district stadium, as the existing facility will soon revert to the KLE Society upon completion of its lease period. "The new stadium will be built near Kanabaragi, with Rs 20 crore sanctioned in the first phase. We aim to have it ready by next Independence Day," he minister confirmed that CM Siddaramaiah will not only launch new projects but also inaugurate several completed ones, including those initiated during his previous tenure. Regarding the development of the Renuka Yallamma temple in Savadatti, Jarkiholi said the state govt has already sanctioned ₹215 crore for its comprehensive development. Tourism minister HK Patil is overseeing the progress of the project.

Ministers outline development plans for Rayalaseema districts during I-Day celebrations
The 79th Independence Day was celebrated across Annamayya, Chittoor and Sri Sathya Sai districts on Friday (August 15), with events of ceremonial grandeur and announcements of major development initiatives. At Rayachoti, Minister for Transport, Youth Services and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy hoisted the National Flag and outlined major projects, including national highway works worth ₹6,210 crore, repairs of 2,600 km rural roads, 'Stree Shakti' free bus travel scheme for women, ₹127.88 crore in direct benefit transfers to farmers, the Jal Jeevan Mission, water supply schemes, housing for over 40,000 families, and tourism and industrial growth measures. In Chittoor, Minister for Health Satyakumar Yadav launched the celebrations at the Police Training College grounds. On this occasion, the Minister along with District Collector Sumit Kumar and SP Manikanta Chandolu launched distribution of ₹498 crore in assets, including SHG bank linkage aid, micro-irrigation equipment for farmers, and assistive devices for persons with disabilities. The Horticulture and Sericulture departments won awards for best stalls. At Puttaparthi, Minister for BC Welfare and Textiles S.
