Early 2026 men's March Madness championship odds, including Texas A&M
It's always a fun exercise after every college basketball season comes to a close to look ahead, especially concerning the championship potential for every fan's favorite team. For Texas A&M, the Buzz Williams era ended last Tuesday, leading to Athletic Director Trev Albert's risky but exciting choice to hire former Samford head coach Bucky McMillan, who was officially introduced on Monday afternoon.
McMillan's future is bright, and at the young age of 41, he will enter as one of the youngest head coaches in the SEC, joining 39-year old Florida head coach Todd Golden, who led the Gators to the 2025 National Championship on Monday night.
McMillan's high-scoring Samford offenses may not translate as soon as next season. Still, you can be sure his coaching demeanor and analytics-based approach could lead to immediate success if he can build a respectable roster through the transfer portal in the coming months. McMillan's hiring signals higher expectations for the Aggies moving forward, including legitimate championship aspirations compared to Buzz WIlliams' predictable tenure.
Texas A&M roster has just one player, sophomore forward Chris McDermott, so any chance at competing for more than a surprise NCAA Tournament bid is likely off the table, but for the sake of discussing early title odds in the SEC, here are BetMGM's latest CBB National Championship odds for the top six SEC teams, and Texas A&M. Houston. (+900), Duke (+1000) and UConn (+1400) lead the way.
2025-2026 National Championship odds
Auburn +1800
Kentucky +2000
Arkansas +2000
Alabama +2000
Florida +2000
Tennessee +2500
Texas A&M +12500
Texas A&M's odds are understandably low, given the current state of the roster and McMillen's first season. Still, anything can happen in today's NIL and transfer portal-driven world, so if betting is your thing, the Aggies are by far the most interesting team to watch this offseason once McMillen gains players from the portal.

Former Ohio State tight end Jeremy Ruckert responds to being reunited with Justin Fields

Former Ohio State tight end Jeremy Ruckert responds to being reunited with Justin Fields Former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields seems to have found himself a new opportunity to seize a major role in the NFL with the New York Jets after signing a two-year deal with the club. A byproduct of that is that he gets a chance to reconnect with a couple of other former Buckeyes that he played with in Columbus. We've already heard from receiver Garrett Wilson on his excitement to play with the former Heisman Finalist and first-round NFL draft pick, but the electric receiver isn't the only former OSU player donning a Jets uniform. Former tight end Jeremy Ruckert, who played for Ohio State from 2018 to 2021, got to block for and catch passes from Fields on the banks of the Olentangy for two years. So yeah, he too has some history with the guy the Jets' brass hopes turns around the fortunes of the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets. Ruckert was asked by the New York media what it means to be playing with his college teammate again, and was excited more for the team than himself. "Any time you get a chance to reconnect with one of your teammates, whether it's in the League or college, it's great,: Ruckert told reporters. "I'm excited where we're going as a team and the culture we're setting, and I think he's (Fields) perfect for that role, and just these last couple of weeks to get back on the same page and get our timing right with all the guys. It's been special to be a part of that, but also kind of get the other guys rolling and continue to grow as a unit." If you are an Ohio State fan, there aren't too many storylines that jump out more than what Fields does in New York. If he can use his athletic gifts the right way and still find a way to stay poised and present in the pocket, we could see a budding star coming to light just a little later than we thought. Texas forward Arthur Kaluma leaning on experience in NBA draft workouts

Texas forward Arthur Kaluma leaning on experience in NBA draft workouts Arthur Kaluma is set to leave the collegiate level after four years, and the Texas forward is looking to showcase himself in team workouts ahead of the 2025 NBA draft. Kaluma averaged 12.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists on 35.9% shooting from 3-point range in 33 appearances with the Longhorns. He led the team in total rebounding, ranking ninth among all players in the SEC (247). The 6-foot-7 standout previously tested the predraft process twice after playing at Creighton and Kansas State. He completed his sixth team workout with the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday and is leaning on that previous experience this year during his visits. "It is my third time going through it, so I definitely know all of the little tricks to make sure my body is good for the next workout, and then just to give myself an advantage," Kaluma said afterward. "I know a lot of different stuff to do before." Kaluma finished in double figures 25 times last season while registering eight double-doubles, which ranked fourth in the conference. He produced a career-high 34 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots on Jan. 7 in a loss against No. 2 Auburn. The 23-year-old competed in the G League Elite Camp last month, averaging seven points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in two scrimmage games. He also registered a 7-foot, 1-inch wingspan in the anthropometric measurement testing. Kaluma is focused on demonstrating his overall ability and skill set on both sides of the ball in workouts this year. He is receiving positive feedback from teams and is eager to finish out the predraft process with a strong showing in his remaining workouts. "They've been telling me my calling card in the NBA is going to be playing defense and knocking down open shots," Kaluma said. "So every workout I'm in, that's what I try to showcase: My ability to guard and bring energy and communicate."
