Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) today announced a strategic partnership with e& enterprise, the digital transformation arm of e&, to establish an advanced industrial ecosystem anchored by AI-powered Industry 4.0 and sustainable manufacturing practices. The agreement reflects the emirate's commitment to cultivating a productive and globally competitive industrial base aligned with its economic vision.
Announced during the Make it in the Emirates Forum 2025 (MIITE), the partnership will enable industrial firms in Abu Dhabi to access proof-of-concept technologies, ready-made solutions and curated knowledge programmes that address real-world challenges and unlock operational value. ADIO and e& enterprise will convene expert-led workshops to facilitate sector-wide engagement, focusing on practical guidance and strategic application. Sessions will address key topics including industrial sustainability, data management and the ethical use of AI-driven data in manufacturing. The workshops will be complemented by joint publications to advance policy dialogue and strengthen the industrial knowledge base.
Recognising the importance of human capital in driving transformation, ADIO and e& enterprise will also offer tailored assessments to accelerate digital readiness among Abu Dhabi manufacturers. Participating companies will also have access to a digital sustainability platform for streamlined reporting. In parallel, curated training programmes will be made available to upskill both frontline employees and C-level executives across the industrial sector.
The partnership will also support the generation of applied research, including white papers that offer insight into emerging global trends at the intersections of industrial AI, data maturity and sustainable manufacturing, and their relevance to Abu Dhabi's industrial landscape. These papers will reinforce Abu Dhabi's role in shaping best practice and regulatory discourse across the sector.
Mohammad Al Kamali, Chief Industry and Trade Officer, ADIO, said: 'Abu Dhabi is investing in the critical elements of long-term industrial strength. Through this partnership with e&, we are reinforcing our commitment to practical, forward-looking collaboration, enabling industrial leaders to upgrade their operations, respond to global expectations and create enduring economic value. This is how we build not just a more advanced industrial base, but a more resilient and competitive economy.'

As government-led initiatives and economic diversification continue to drive industrial digitalisation, partnerships like this help ensure long-term value creation and global competitiveness for the sector.'
This partnership contributes to Abu Dhabi's broader industrial transformation and supports its long-term goals under the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy (ADIS), which aims to grow the manufacturing sector's contribution to AED 172 billion by 2031. DHL plans $575mn investment in Middle East, the ‘hub of global trade'

DHL Group, a global logistics powerhouse, plans to invest more than EUR500 million (US$575 million) in the rapidly expanding markets of the Middle East, with a strategic focus on Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This investment will be made until the end of 2030, underscoring DHL's commitment to the region and its importance for the future of global trade. It's part of DHL Group's Strategy 2030, launched in 2024, and prioritises growth regions and geographic tailwinds generated by shifts in global trade. John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, commented: 'The region of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is rapidly emerging as a global logistics and innovation hub. 'Our investment reflects the region's increasing strategic importance in connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa, and our commitment to supporting its transformation into a catalyst for regional and global trade. DHL Express is seeing dynamic growth and export potential in the region's e-commerce sector, for example, which is providing opportunities for entrepreneurs and smaller businesses to expand their offering to global markets.' DHL strengthens Middle East supply chains The investment spans all four DHL divisions – DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, and DHL eCommerce. It will significantly strengthen the region's logistics backbone by enhancing infrastructure, expanding networks and capacity, and elevating service capabilities. The company's divisions provide a broad portfolio of logistics and transportation services to customers in the Middle East, including express parcel delivery, air, ocean and overland freight, warehousing, fulfilment and distribution, customs brokerage and specialised operations for sectors such as life sciences, healthcare, e-commerce and battery logistics. The Middle East is emerging as a vital trade hub, facilitating commerce between Asia, Europe, and the US while serving as a gateway to Africa. The region is witnessing growth not only due to attracting investments from multinationals expanding their operations, but also because Middle East-based businesses are growing and increasing their exports. Hendrik Venter, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, Europe, Middle East & Africa, added: 'DHL Supply Chain has actively expanded in Saudi Arabia and the UAE in recent years, recognising the positive economic development, the increasing maturity and sophistication of supply chain operations in the region and the growing demand for specialised, outsourced logistics support. 'With a strong focus on the energy sector, life sciences, healthcare, and technology, we are poised to take advantage of our contract logistics expertise to meet the unique needs of our customers and drive innovation in these critical areas.' For DHL Express, investments will be made in hub and gateway facilities, as well as enhancing aviation capacity to improve service efficiency and delivery speed. For DHL Global Forwarding, the company will expand its overall presence in the region, invest in its fleet – including electric trucks – and pursue joint venture initiatives such as the recent JV with Etihad Rail to enhance connectivity. DHL Supply Chain will expand it contract logistics offering in both the UAE and KSA, which includes increasing warehousing capacity, upgrading equipment, and integrating advanced technology to optimise operations. Amadou Diallo, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Middle East & Africa, remarked: 'This investment underscores our confidence in the Middle East's economic trajectory and our continued commitment to be ahead of the curve in digital capabilities and sustainable transportation for our customers. 'We also consistently aim to find entrepreneurial freight forwarding solutions that build supply chain resilience, keep their goods flowing and help them to uncover growth opportunities in a world that is characterised by uncertainty and volatility. By expanding our operations, we will be even better positioned to support our clients in navigating the complexities of international trade and logistics.' The Group added that it recognises the growing opportunities in the energy sector, encompassing traditional oil and gas as well as renewables and electrification. The company also sees potential in the life sciences and healthcare markets, alongside the burgeoning e-commerce landscape. The company is also committed to sustainability, investing in alternative fuel, and electric delivery vehicles, aviation fuels in air freight and biofuels for road and ocean freight, as well as solar energy and clean power for facilities. This commitment ensures that supply chains become more sustainable, and customers achieve their net zero ambitions.

Celebrating UAE-Philippines bond: A tribute to enduring ties

Today as the Philippines celebrates its 127th Independence Day, the vibrant Filipino community in the UAE comes together not just in remembrance of its storied past, but in celebration of strong and growing ties with the UAE. With an estimated one million Filipinos living and working across the Emirates, they form one of the largest expatriate populations in the country, constituting about 6.8 per cent of the UAE's total population. From hospitals and clinics to construction sites and hospitality venues, their dedication and professionalism are felt across key sectors. These overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) not only support the UAE's economic growth through their skills and contributions but also play a vital role in the Philippine economy through remittances, bolstering household incomes and national development back home. Beyond the workforce, the UAE has become a second home for many Filipinos, offering opportunities for career growth, community building, and cultural expression. Numerous Filipino organisations, clubs, and churches offer support networks and social connections, helping create a strong sense of belonging in a foreign land. On the diplomatic and economic front, the UAE and the Philippines continue to strengthen bilateral relations. The two nations are working towards a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is expected to unlock new avenues for trade, investment, and collaboration. Once finalised, CEPA could pave the way for the Philippines to attract more investments from the UAE's sovereign wealth funds, further deepening economic ties. In 2023, non-oil bilateral trade between the Philippines and the UAE exceeded $1 billion, underlining the UAE's status as the Philippines' top export destination among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and its 17th largest trading partner globally. As both countries look to the future, the enduring friendship between the UAE and the Philippines continues to flourish, built on shared values of resilience, hospitality, and mutual progress. As we mark the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence, we reflect on the meaning of the theme of the celebration: Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan, (Freedom, Future, History) and honour the sacrifices of our heroes; celebrate the freedoms we now enjoy; and embrace the shared responsibility to shape a better future. This year's celebration is particularly significant as we highlight the growing and strategic partnership between the Philippines and the UAE. Anchored in mutual respect and reinforced by the presence of nearly a million Filipinos in the UAE, our bilateral relations have expanded into a forward-looking cooperation and collaboration in new and previously untapped fields. The official visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to the UAE in November 2024 reaffirmed the strength of our diplomatic relations and opened new doors for strategic cooperation. The signing of key bilateral agreements has laid the foundation for greater partnerships in the critical areas of trade and investment; renewable and clean energy; cultural cooperation; digital transformation and innovation; environmental protection; public safety and security; and improved government services. These achievements are not only symbolic of the growing trust between our nations but also tangible commitments to our shared vision for economic resilience, technological advancement, and sustainable development. The UAE's leadership in AI, digital transformation, and smart technologies aligns closely with the Philippines' own aspirations. Filipinos in the UAE — as IT professionals, engineers, creatives, and innovators — are contributing meaningfully in these advanced fields, embodying the Filipino spirit of excellence, dedication and resilience. This year, the UAE celebrates the 'Year of Community'. We take great pride in the integral role that the Filipino community plays in this country's success and in enriching the UAE's social and economic fabric. Filipino workers and entrepreneurs continue to be active contributors not just in traditional sectors, but increasingly in knowledge-based industries, reinforcing their value as partners in nation-building — both here and at home. The Filipino community continues to thrive in this land of opportunity and inclusion while carrying the legacy of our hard-won independence. We honour their sacrifices and their vital role in strengthening Philippines-UAE relations. As we look toward the future, let us celebrate not only the freedom we cherish, but also the strong and evolving partnership we share with the UAE — a relationship that continues to grow in breadth, depth, innovation, shared purpose, and mutual benefit. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas at UAE! (Long live the Philippines and UAE!) On the occasion of the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence, it is with great honour that I share my heartfelt greetings to the Filipino communities here in the UAE and across the globe. Today, we stand united as a nation, reflecting on our journey, celebrating our people, and reaffirming the values that continue to define us wherever we are in the world. Independence extends far beyond a single day in our calendar. It is a continuing commitment to uplift one another, carry our families' burdens with honour, and serve with integrity and humility wherever we go. In every act of compassion, in every choice to persevere, we show that the Filipino spirit remains free. This year's celebration holds special meaning as it coincides with the UAE's declaration of 2025 as the 'Year of the Community', reminding us of our shared humanity. The theme resonates deeply with Filipino values, emphasising solidarity, compassion, and understanding — qualities we, Filipinos, continue to uphold and cherish. In every sector we are part of, Filipinos help weave connections between people — we actively engage, contribute, and build communities that honor our Filipino heritage and other cultures around us. We also celebrate over five decades of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the UAE. For 50 years, our nations have collaborated to promote peace, prosperity, and people-to-people ties. This partnership has created opportunities for overseas Filipinos to flourish in a country that champions coexistence, diversity, and mutual respect. Philippine Independence Day represents more than remembrance — it is also a responsibility. We each carry a piece of our flag within us in how we live. We honour our national heroes by continuing their mission — to build a society that is fair, humane, and rooted in truth. Freedom is not a one-time gift; it is expressed daily, in every place we call home, through our words and our decisions. We are Filipinos. We stand with pride. We remain resilient. And we continue to be free.
