The New USPS Truck Is Going Viral Again: "WTF Is Happening?"

Buzz Feed12-02-2025

In case you didn't know, the USPS truck got a fabulous new makeover.
Long gone are the days of this stale-ass inefficient design.
Say hello to the new one!
So, the deal with the new USPS trucks, or Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDVs), is that they're designed to be safer, more efficient, and better for the environment.
Well, someone on X was a bit late to the trend and asked"Wtf is happening?"
People immediately brought up the design.
"You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like," this person said.
"Children not getting hit by trucks," another person chimed in.
And this person said: "Beyond this just being an obvious precaution to avoid running over children, I find this design very charming. It's like what cars look like in 50s cartoons."
Other people also expressed their love of the new design.
"These are fire, straight out of a cartoon. god bless usps for not picking some vanilla design that everyone will forget," this person said.
"Cannot WAIT to get my hands on one of these babies. Driving around in a futuristic cartoon from the 80s," another person said.
And this person said, "This is how I draw cars. Love it."
Ultimately, I can't wait to see one of these things in the wild. As a fan of this Dr. Seuss-esque design, I love a car straight out of the Fairly OddParents.

The ultimate loser of Trump and Musk's bloody battle royale could be the nation

Godzilla vs King Kong. Ali vs Frazier. Yankees vs. Red Sox. Trump vs. Musk is bigger than all of them because — unlike the first match — this one is real. And unlike the other two, it has real-world consequences. The future of the republic — not to mention the future of Tesla, SpaceX and Musk's other cutting-edge tech companies — could be at stake, depending on how bad it all gets. Of course, with this pair, they could make up while this column is at the printer. Musk is known to do 180s in business like most people breathe, and he seems open (at least for now) to rapprochement. That's why, after tanking during early rounds of the fight, Tesla shares spiked on Friday. Trump, meanwhile, can be forgiving when he sees an opportunity. Remember how he mocked 'Little Marco,' who after a MAGA-esque transformation is now Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Trump wanted to ban TikTok but as I was first to report, he's extending its life in the US. He came to believe that even if it is Chinese spyware, it helped him win a second term. But there's a better case that the Trump-Musk feud will linger. These men maintain some of the biggest egos on the planet; Musk actually thinks he's the reason Trump got elected since Elon owns X (formerly Twitter), which became a MAGA megaphone. If you know Trump like I do, someone taking credit for his success is a third rail. Plus, Musk isn't a natural convert to MAGA. These dudes bonded because Musk, a former Democrat, believed his party lost its mind on woke. His EV maker Tesla, a darling of the environmental movement, has a big operation in China, the main target of Trump's trade war. Musk called Peter Navarro, Trump's lead trade warrior, 'Peter Retarrdo' because Elon's no fan of tariffs. For his part, Trump is no budget hawk. It's telling that this fight started with Musk's critique that the president's 'big, beautiful bill' spends too much money. It quickly exposed other fissures lurking beneath the surface, according to my sources, and now it has gotten messy. No way to treat a pal Trump is teeing up killing all of Musk's lucrative government contracting after Musk outrageously — and foolishly — claimed the president is holding back the Jeffrey Epstein files because Trump's in the docs in some nefarious way. Not a way to treat a friend, particularly a powerful one. All of which gets me to laying odds on the winner if this feud keeps going. I say Trump is the heavy favorite. Musk has no political base, even if he splinters and begins spending his billions on Dems. Yes, some lefties are relishing the battle, but Musk will never be acceptable to most Democrats for the unforgivable sin of aiding Trump, then via DOGE cutting all that government lefty spending. Check out more newsletters Meanwhile, Musk poses little threat to MAGA. He's not a natural politician — he's not even comfortable in his own skin. He controls X and has a huge following, but Trump has his own following and social media platform that attracts as much media attention. And Trump can hit him where it hurts — his pocketbook. Musk is the world's richest man, but mostly on paper. It could diminish fast given how much of it is built on government work. Recall Musk smoking a joint on Joe Rogan, which is a no-no when you do defense contracting as SpaceX does. I reported how it sparked scrutiny by the feds that went nowhere. Maybe now it goes somewhere. Musk's accounting at Tesla has drawn regulatory attention in the past; it now might get some more. The company just had a lousy quarter as its lefty EV-buying base went somewhere else. Shares have recovered somewhat but remain under pressure. They fell as much as 16% when the feud went defcon. Trump could go after other parts of the Musk empire. The president could throttle SpaceX's government contracts, using the weed issue as an excuse to re-examine the relationship. Maybe more of those go by the wayside along with all his other government contracts. Musk is obviously miffed that Trump's tax bill didn't cut enough fat, but what might have really stoked his anger is that it did take aim at various green-tax credits that Tesla has feasted upon. Musk's recklessness in his attacks underscores one of his weaknesses as a CEO; he once said he had a buyer to take it private at a premium but no one emerged. And you wonder why the Epstein barb shouldn't be taken seriously. The smarter move Yes, Trump has a lot of levers to pull to get at what makes Musk so powerful. But here's why he shouldn't: For all of Musk's flaws, he's smart and has his finger on the pulse of the emerging economy. Tesla's tech is first-rate. SpaceX is transformational, and serves a significant national security function. Musk is rich and can continue to elect Republicans to keep Trump from being impeached and derailing what is really working in his second term, such as his war on woke, closing the border and, when this tariff stuff subsidies, tax cuts to grow the economy. And they did make beautiful music together exposing stuff with DOGE. Someone please call a timeout.

USPS invests in modernization, undergoing upgrades at Erie delivery center

The United States Postal Service is undergoing the largest infrastructure and modernization investment in its history, with significant upgrades already implemented at the Erie Sorting and Delivery Center. This $40 billion nationwide modernization initiative aims to enhance service speed and reliability. As part of this effort, $256 million has been invested in facilities across the Commonwealth, including the Erie Center located on East 38th Street. 'True construction' starting soon on EMI building 'Some of these facilities are years and years in disrepair and in need of an upgrade,' said Collin Stefanowicz, Manager of Sorting & Delivery Center Strategy & Optimization at USPS. 'It's really to provide our employees with a safe, healthy, clean place to work, but again, that efficiency piece being able to keep up and move mail at a quick rate.' The Erie facility, a 142,000 square foot building, has undergone a significant transformation over the past year, improving both the employee and customer experience. Upgrades include new equipment for carriers and clerks, as well as a small delivery unit sorter that enhances mail sortation efficiency. The new delivery fleet introduced includes the 'Ford E Transit' and 'Next Generation Delivery Vehicle,' which come with modern features and are designed with feedback from USPS carriers and unions. Patrick Ecker, Director of Fleet Strategy & Support at USPS, highlighted the importance of these vehicles, especially in regions like Erie that experience snow. 'Our e-transits and electric vehicle and its left-hand drive, the NGDV comes in both electric and gasoline versions,' Ecker explained. 'This is a gasoline all-wheel drive version, so really specific for what we see in Erie in terms of the snow.' Westville Police Dept. issues reminders for electric bike, scooter laws

WESTVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — As the number of complaints for electric bikes and scooters has increased recently, the Westville Police Department is providing information so people can brush up on the laws regarding these modes of transportation. In a letter to parents on May 5, Police Chief Justin M Varvel addressed the issue of the complaints the department has been receiving about juveniles operating electric scooters and bikes in a reckless or careless manner. This includes riding them in places they are not permitted to with no regard for the rules of the road and placing themselves and others at risk of injury. Urbana woman targeted by 'brushing' scam USPS is warning Americans about Varvel is encouraging parents to talk to their children about bicycle safety and the rules of the road for bikes and scooters, such as stopping at stop signs and obeying traffic signals in order to prevent an accident before it occurs. He said most e-bikes can be operated by anyone without a driver's license as long as the motor is under 750 watts and the bike doesn't go over 20 miles per hour. On the other hand, a Class 3 e-bike with a motor under 750 watts but capable of achieving a speed of up to 28 mph requires the rider to be at least 16 years old. Additionally, if the bike has a motor that's more than 750 watts, it is considered a motorized vehicle and has to comply with all applicable regulations including driver's licensing requirements. 'If your child has an e-bike, please ensure what class it falls into, and that your child is able to legally operate it,' Varvel said. Ford Co. EMA asks residents to avoid open burning during high winds Thursday, Friday Some of the most common problems the department has observed are children not stopping at intersections with traffic signals or stop signs, not yielding to pedestrians or vehicles with the right of way and operating their scooter or bike in a reckless manner. They have also received a number of reports of children operating these e-bikes and scooters on Route 1. Officers in Westville will begin stopping people they witness violating the rules of the road and take the chance to teach them the importance of following them. 'Our goal is to prevent a foreseeable tragedy in our community. To do so requires action from our community, and more importantly, parents,' Varvel said. 'By educating our parents and children about basic bicycle safety, rules of the road, and existing laws in regard to bicycles, e-bikes, and electric scooters, I believe we can make this happen and avoid the unthinkable.'
