Geri Halliwell-Horner reveals if Spice Girls will make new music as she speaks out about Madonna
Geri Halliwell-Horner says Spice Girls would only make new music "if it felt relevant", as she dissed Madonna's recent work.
The 52-year-old singer admitted she hasn't "connected" to the Queen of Pop's "latest" music, despite being a fan of the likes of 'Holiday' and 'Into the Groove', and insisted the 'Spice Up Your Life' hitmakers would only get back into the studio if it felt right.
When asked on Times Radio podcast 'Off Air with Jane and Fi' about potential new music from the 'Wannabe' hitmakers, she said: "If it felt relevant, but if not, either way is OK.
"Because I always come from a fan perspective.
"Let's say Madonna, right? I'm a massive Madonna fan.
"I would say I want to hear 'Holiday' and 'Into the Groove', but I love 'Ray of Light.'
"Have I connected to her latest stuff? No.
"But she has every right to do that as an artist. It's the relevance.
"So if it felt relevant...'
Geri also told how she channels the late Queen Elizabeth - who passed away in 2022 aged 96 - when dealing with the demands of being a famous singer, because the monarch "handled her life with such good manners".
She said: "I always go from our late queen. There are times when we feel like, what do I do here?
"And I always look to her and think, she handled her life with such good manners. I love that.
"Sometimes the most powerful thing is to say nothing and let the circumstances unfold, even when we feel we want to shout or blah, blah, blah.
"Actually, if you look at her as such a great role model with grace and strength ... and you know, her life wasn't, you know, like all of us, no one's asking for perfection. I think sometimes we don't know the answers."

The 32-year-old pop star has revealed that she convinced a group of her showbiz pals, including Madonna, to star in the music video for '4×4'. Meanwhile, Miley previously admitted to being inspired by Pamela Anderson. The singer has always been a huge fan of the 'Baywatch' actress, and Miley admitted to being wowed by Pamela's distinctive appearance during her younger years. In a video posted on Instagram, Miley told Pamela: "Ever since I was little, it was only Pam when people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up. I would say you. And the whole thing. The tattoos, the hair, all of it ... That's all I wanted to do." Miley has also been amazed by Pamela's evolution over the years. The 'Flowers' hitmaker - who has enjoyed significant success as a singer and as an actress - explained: "I've had so many different pivots and evolutions and - one might say - detours within my path. But it always ends up coming back around to make the next stage of who we are. Something that's more potent, something that's more real."

Ahead of her performance at the WorldPride Festival in Washington this weekend, Rita Ora released her new single Heat. Before her big Pride gig, Ora caught up on her squad of famous Aussie collaborators, from the sizzling (northern hemisphere) summer anthem's co-writer Troye Sivan to tour buddy Kylie Minogue. The Heat video is rather steamy. You shot it on Miami beach? 'It was shot while I was on the Kylie tour in April and we had about four hours in that day to shoot it because we were seriously back-to-back with the shows. You have very strong creative connections with Australia, particularly since you did the Voice (2021-2023). How did you and Troye Sivan and his songwriting partner Leland all get together to write Heat? 'Leland, I've known for a long time, we have a lot of mutual friends. And I've constantly had their support. When we were writing together, they suggested this concept of the sexuality and the intensity of heat. And that's what I love about Troye - he's so good at writing really sexy, cheeky songs. Rush was one of my favorite songs of last year and working with him has been on a bucket list. He just happens to be another Australian that wanted to work with me. It was just amazing, and the song fit exactly what my mood of the album was.' 'My last record was all about finding love and feeling super inspired by my relationship (with film-maker husband Taika Waititi). Whereas this one is just really inspired by having fun and being a sexy bitch. I wanted to go back to how I started in my early career of feeling really comfortable in my skin and, and celebrating being a woman. And summer is such a big part of my life, since I was a kid going around to the Eastern European beaches and seeing how they operate with plastic bags on their heads, very different to a Hawaii beach. 'It was everything to me. Kylie has been such an incredible inspiration to me for my whole life. And also having her as a supporter, I couldn't ask for anything more. I haven't toured like that for about three years and opening up for her was the best way to just get back into live shows. Her audience are just so accepting and they really showed up for me. I just never wanted it to end ... I'm just so grateful for that tour.' Lostboy, who co-wrote Kylie's smash Padam Padam, has said you were going to cut the song at one stage. Any regrets about him not leaving the song with you? 'I've always grown up with this saying, 'What's for you won't pass you.' And that's always how I've lived my life. And it's Kylie Minogue - she's the queen of the world, in my opinion. So, of course, Kylie's going to get it and kill it and do a great job. And in the pop industry, that happens every day to a lot of big artists, you don't just know about it. Lostboy lives in my studio here in Los Angeles, we're very close friends.' Is there a Whatsapp group for The Voice Australia coaches? Keith Urban featured on the track Shape of Me from your last album You & I and you are touring Australia with Ricky Martin in November. 'During that show, I made an incredible friendship with Keith and I love him to death. He's a big, big part of my music-making process, I ask for his advice. And I can't wait to do this Ricky tour. It's another reason to come to Australia. I mean, as soon as they asked me, I just said yes because it's in Australia and it's Ricky.' David Beckham to be awarded knighthood after string of near misses
David Beckham is to finally be awarded a knighthood, The Sun can reveal. The footie legend, 50, will become a 'Sir' in the King's Birthday Honours list next week. His Spice Girl wife Victoria will be known as Lady Beckham. Ex-England and Man United star Becks has longed for a knighthood for years, according to The Sun. The news will also bring some joy to the Beckham household amid a rift with their eldest son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz. Politicians and fellow sports stars have spent years calling for the man known as 'Golden Balls' to receive a knighthood. The father of four — who played 115 times for England and has made major contributions to charity — has struck up a firm friendship with King Charles. And the monarch dropped a potential hint last month that his wait was coming to an end. Countryside-loving Becks, who is an ambassador of The King's Foundation, was seen greeting Charles and Queen Camilla at the Chelsea Flower Show. Coveted honour He shares a passion for horticulture with Charles and sported the King's rose in his lapel. Charles asked him: 'You got it, didn't you?' Becks replied: 'It was incredible, thank you. It was very kind.' Letters inviting recipients to accept honours are sent out weeks in advance – and one may have already landed on David's mat at the time of their chat. He was first put forward for a knighthood in 2011 after helping to secure the London 2012 Olympics. But he was blocked from getting the title by the Honours Committee after becoming caught up in a tax avoidance scheme, along with many other stars. Becks retired from playing in 2013, and his finances were cleared by the taxman at least four years ago – paving the way for him to finally get the coveted honour. Many thought it would finally come in 2022, after he spent 13 hours queuing with the public to pay his respects at Queen Elizabeth's coffin, which lay in state in Westminster. But he was again left waiting for the honour. The Sun understands he narrowly missed out on a knighthood in the New Year Honours List published in December last year. Former England football manager Gareth Southgate got the award. David had been given an OBE in 2003 for services to football. He received it from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, watched by proud Victoria, sons Brooklyn and Romeo, and his grandparents. David and his wife — who shot to fame with the Spice Girls before becoming a successful fashion designer — have an estimated combined net worth of more than $1 million. David also has a long history of charitable work, which will have been considered by officials on the Honours Committee. Last year, he was formally made a charity ambassador by the King, and beekeeper Becks was buzzing with excitement at teaming up with him. Charles invited Beckham to Highgrove to learn more about the charity, which focuses on 'creating better communities where people, places and the planet can coexist in harmony'. Tours of the grounds help to fund workshops and courses in traditional skills and crafts, and the former footie star met woodworking and embroidery students. Becks said at the time: 'I'm excited to be working with The King's Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity's work. 'I've always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I'm particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation's education programs and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature. 'Having developed a love for the countryside I'm also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the Foundation's work. 'It was inspiring to hear from The King about the work of His Majesty's Foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens — and compare beekeeping tips.' In 2020, he teamed up with the Chelsea Pensioners as he backed The Sun's campaign to save the Poppy Appeal amid the devastating Covid lockdown. He said he was 'in awe' of the veterans as he delivered poppies to their London HQ. David added: 'With another lockdown coming it is more important than ever that we support our veterans.' Becks, also dad to son Cruz and daughter Harper, has carried out lots of charity work focusing on children, and was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador 20 years ago. To mark his 50th birthday last month he appealed for donations for the charity. He was also a founding member of the leadership council of charity Malaria No More in 2009, helping to eradicate the disease, even visiting No 10 to highlight the issue. In 2023, he delighted the Brentford Penguins – a football team for children with Down's syndrome — with a visit to celebrate them winning one of The Sun's Who Cares Wins awards. He took footballing son Romeo with him to lead a surprise training session. David celebrated his 50th last month with a string of parties, though Brooklyn stayed away. The honours will be formally announced later this month. The government does not comment on them beforehand.
