Development of railway infra in west segment brought to fore
Development of Simhachalam railway station, request for additional entrances and booking counters on both sides of the station to improve accessibility, expansion of parking facilities at the station, road widening work from Baji junction to Simhachalam north railway station, among others, formed part of the representations made to the DRM.
While some of the road widening and extension works form part of the VMRDA Visakhapatnam Master Plan for new formation, the others included long pending issues. As residents of Dayanandnagar, Chakaligedda, and Mutyamamba Colony face risks of crossing railway tracks for essential purposes like schools and hospitals, the need for an underpass access at Chakaligedda was highlighted.
Also, to ensure safe pedestrian access, the MLA requested a new subway or construction of foot over bridge, sanctioning of a new underpass, building of road along the naval quarters to improve connectivity. 'In VMRDA Visakhapatnam Master Plan, we propose that the road from Baji junction to the Airport via Kakani Nagar and Viman Nagar, following the NH-16 corridor, be developed as a 15 to 20 mt-wide road,' Ganababu stressed, requesting the DRM for a site inspection and review the feasibility of the proposals made.

However, on the day of the inauguration, traffic on airport road took a major hit with the police barricading several roads for VIP movement. Bengaluru (South) MP Tejasvi Surya took to social media to highlight the issue of traffic congestion. 'On my way to Delhi this morning to attend Parliament, I was stuck at Hebbal Junction for nearly 50 minutes along with thousands of people and almost missed my flight. All because the state government chose a Monday morning peak hour as the appropriate time for the flyover inauguration program. A long weekend was just behind us – they could easily have picked a time with minimal disruption. But the last thing ever considered is the comfort of commuters. Neither in project design nor in inauguration planning is the public kept in mind. It's always for the politicians, by the politicians,' he added. Advt Advt Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday for the construction of the Urban Extension Road (UER) II, saying it will contribute to the "Viksit Delhi" by Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and local MP Yogender Chandolia, Gupta inspected the venue for the inauguration of the UER-II at Rohini Sector 37, from where the road will be inaugurated by the prime minister on the project as a "historic gift" for the city, the chief minister said the inauguration of the UER-II will not only move Delhi closer to becoming a traffic-free capital but also strengthen connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR)."The UER-II is not just an infrastructure project , it is an investment in the future of Delhi. 'UER-II is not just an infrastructure project… It is an investment in the future of Delhi. It will improve traffic flow, cut travel time drastically, and uplift the quality of life for lakhs of people living in Delhi and NCR,' the CM asserted. The UER-II, the CM underlined, will emerge as the backbone of high-speed connectivity, linking Delhi not just with the National Capital Region (NCR) but with the entire country. Travelling to Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Jaipur and even Mumbai will become faster and more convenient. It is truly a 'transformative' project for the people of Delhi and beyond, Gupta said.
