Jaelin Kauf, Quinn Dehlinger win at Deer Valley freestyle ski World Cup

Yahoo08-02-2025
Olympic silver medalist Jaelin Kauf earned her first World Cup moguls victory in more than six years while extending her podium streak to seven events in a row between moguls and dual moguls.
Kauf, a 28-year-old Wyoming native, took the Intermountain Health Freestyle International presented by Stifel at Deer Valley, Utah, on Thursday night.
She scored 80.75 points in the super final, edging 2018 Olympic gold medalist Perrine Laffont of France (79.63).
She did so in front of family and friends who carried large letter J signs and on the third anniversary of her Olympic medal-winning performance in China.
Kauf ranks second in this season's World Cup moguls standings behind Laffont (in the notable absence of injured 2022 Olympic champion Jakara Anthony of Australia).
Kauf is ranked No. 1 in dual moguls, which makes its Olympic debut in 2026.
On Friday, American Quinn Dehlinger won the aerials event at Deer Valley after missing most of last season due to a knee injury that led to surgery.
Dehlinger, a 22-year-old from the Cincinnati area, landed 'the Daddy' — a back full-double full-full — for 122.57 points, topping Dmytro Kotovskyi of Ukraine (115.49) and American Chris Lillis (104.43), who both performed the same trick.
'It's always been a dream to win here at Deer Valley,' Dehlinger said, according to U.S. Ski and Snowboard. 'Winning on home soil is just something different. This is the Super Bowl of aerials. The crowd is always the biggest, the environment is always the best, so to win here is something special.'
Before last year's injury, Dehlinger won silver at the 2023 World Championships as the youngest American man to ever make an individual Olympic or world championships aerials podium.
He's the only American man to win an aerials World Cup in the last four years.
In 2022, he was the highest-ranked American man to not make the Olympic aerials team.
Competition in Deer Valley concludes with dual moguls on Saturday. Deer Valley highlights air Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Eagles vs. Browns: Takeaways from 1st half as Philadelphia holds a 13-12 lead

The defending Super Bowl champions have returned to Lincoln Financial Field for the second week in a row against an AFC North opponent. This time, the retooled Cleveland Browns are the opponent after two days of joint practice sessions. Philadelphia sat the bulk of their starters, but had every player involved in the cornerback competition dressed, and vying for a key role. It was an exciting first half that saw rookie safety Andrew Makuba on the receiving end of two turnovers, while a second-year wide receiver continues to flash. We're looking at takeaways and observations from the first half as the Eagles hold a 13-9 lead over the Browns. Dillon Gabriel With Shedeur Sanders out, the third-round pick got his opportunity to perform in a meaningful game, and the former Oklahoma and Oregon star quarterback didn't disappoint. Gabriel had an ugly interception returned 75 yards for a touchdown, but was otherwise solid. Gabriel finished the first half 13-18 passing, for 143 yards passing (7.9 avg) 0 touchdowns, and one interception with a 72.2 rating and two sacks. Eagles QBs Dorian Thompson-Robinson got the start, but it was rookie Kyle McCord who tossed his first career touchdown pass. McCord is 2-2 passing for 15 yards and the score. Thompson-Robinson was 3-4 passing for eight yards and one sack. Ainias Smith Smith's roster spot isn't guaranteed, and the 2024 late-round pick has a score in back-to-back games. Eagles defense Azeez Ojulari has started to heat up and logged a first-half sack while being a disruptor. Overall, the Eagles' defense allowed 11 first downs, 194 yards, and 6-8 on third downs. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. had five first-half tackles. Eagles CB competition Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson got the start, while Jakorian Bennett saw his first action as an Eagle before suffering an injury. Gabriel was efficient, and Jamari Thrash had four catches for 43 yards in the first half. Jihaad Campbell The rookie had three first-half tackles and his first career sack on Dillon Gabriel. Eagles offensive line Even with Myles Garrett out, Cleveland has a dominant defensive line, and the difference in talent was significant with the Eagles' stars all sitting out.
