Karan Jain, one of the passengers on the flight told TOI that the boarding had started around 7.20pm. "Once we boarded the flight, we found that the aircraft was extremely stuffy, and there was no airconditioning. After around 15-20 minutes, the flight started to taxi towards the runway. Just then, a female passenger started feeling unwell due to the heat and almost fainted. This resulted in the aircraft turning back and parking with one of the aerobridges," he said.
Jain said though the woman passenger was taken off the flight and provided immediate medical attention, other flyers were made to sit inside the aircraft for nearly two hours. "After several passengers started complaining, the crew plugged in a ground airconditioning unit and allowed some flyers to stand on the aerobridge. Meanwhile, the engineers tried to fix the airconditioning system," he said.
Avi Sharma, another passenger, said, "The female passenger who had suffered a health scare was deboarded from the aircraft while we were sweating inside."
Around 10pm, the flyers were deboarded and taken inside the terminal building.
"One of our flights from Pune returned to the bay before take-off due to a medical situation on board. The guest was promptly attended to by the airport doctor, found to be stable, and cleared to return home, accompanied by a colleague. Our team provided all necessary assistance to the guest throughout and extended a full refund for their flight. Due to a technical issue, the aircraft could not operate. All guests on the flight have been offered the option to reschedule to a later flight of their choice, or a full refund if they choose to cancel their booking. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused," a statement released by Air India Express said.

8 benefits of drinking amla, beetroot and carrot juice every morning
Some rituals have a way of becoming part of life, not because they're trendy, but because they truly make a difference. Amla, beetroot, and carrot juice might not look fancy in a glass, but behind that deep, earthy-pink hue lies a powerhouse of nutrients. But what really happens when this juice becomes a part of a daily morning routine? Here's all we need to know about the benefits of drinking this juice daily. Rich in natural iron This claim holds weight. Beetroot is indeed a good source of dietary nitrates and iron. When combined with carrot and amla, this trio supports the production of red blood cells, improving oxygen supply in the body. It may not treat anaemia overnight, but it helps in reducing constant fatigue in a natural and gradual way. Amla for gut calmness While digestion benefits are real, amla does something more subtle – it helps calm the gut lining. This is especially helpful for those who experience early morning acidity or discomfort. Amla's high Vitamin C content helps reduce inflammation in the stomach and promotes smoother bowel movements without being harsh. Skin that looks 'alive' Yes, carrots are loaded with beta-carotene, which the body converts into Vitamin A. When paired with beetroot's antioxidants and amla's collagen-boosting properties, this juice helps in reducing dullness, lightening pigmentation, and giving skin a visibly fresher look. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo It's not magic – it's daily nourishment from within. Supports liver function gently 'Detox' can often be a misleading word. What this juice really does is support liver enzymes. Beetroot contains betaine, which assists in breaking down and removing toxins, while amla helps in controlling fat deposition in the liver. Over time, this trio creates a gentle, supportive environment for the liver to function better. Morning clarity and mood balance Carrots and beetroots contain folate and magnesium, which play a subtle role in balancing neurotransmitters. This may help in reducing morning brain fog and setting a calm tone for the day. It's not a mood-fixer in itself, but it contributes to a more balanced mental state when consumed regularly. Eye health Carrots, rich in Vitamin A, indeed support retinal health. Amla adds to this with its antioxidant protection, which may slow down age-related eye damage. While it won't reverse vision problems, this juice can help preserve eye function with consistent intake. May help regulate blood sugar naturally Amla is known to regulate insulin response and slow down sugar absorption. Beetroot, although slightly sweet, has a low glycaemic index and doesn't spike sugar levels when taken in moderation. Together, they support better blood sugar control, but must be consumed as part of an overall balanced diet. Strengthens hair from within Amla's high Vitamin C and iron content help improve blood flow to the scalp and strengthen hair follicles. Beetroot and carrot add to this with silica and biotin – nutrients that support healthy hair texture and reduce hair fall. This juice may not replace a hair serum, but it works from the inside out. How to make Amla, Beetroot, and Carrot juice at home This juice is easy to make – no sugar, no additives, just pure, raw ingredients: Ingredients: 1 amla (seed removed and chopped) 1 small beetroot (peeled and chopped) 2 medium carrots (washed and chopped) A small piece of ginger (optional) ½ lemon (optional, for taste) ½ glass of water Best DIY detox drinks for cleansing and weightloss Method: Add chopped amla, beetroot, carrot, and ginger to a blender. Add water and blend well. Strain the juice using a muslin cloth or fine sieve if smoother texture is preferred. Add a dash of lemon juice if needed. UAE waives overstay fines for iranians stranded amid Israel-Iran conflict, valid until end of 2025
Iranians eligible for the UAE's overstay fine waiver must register via the ICP smart services platform or visit customer happiness centres/ Image Generated by AI for creative and illustrative purpose. In a significant humanitarian gesture, the United Arab Emirates has waived all overstay fines for Iranian nationals, including both residents and visitors, regardless of the visa category under which they entered the country. The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 17, by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). The authority clarified that this decision was made 'in response to the exceptional circumstances that the region is witnessing and to provide relief to this group of people who were unable to return to their homeland, due to the closure of airspace and the suspension of flights.' This move follows days of escalating conflict in the Middle East. Since Friday, Israel and Iran have been engaged in a direct air conflict, with Israel launching attacks on nuclear and military sites within Iran. In response, Iran has fired missiles into Israeli territory. As of Tuesday, the conflict has entered its fifth day, severely disrupting commercial air traffic and stranding travelers across the region. The exemption for Iranian nationals was issued under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo The ICP said that the directive aims to provide immediate support to Iranian citizens affected by the conflict-induced travel disruptions. The decision applies to all Iranians present in the UAE, regardless of their visa type or duration of stay. It is part of a broader strategy by the UAE to respond swiftly to international humanitarian needs caused by conflict or crisis. To avail of the waiver, Iranian nationals are encouraged to register through the UAE's smart services platform or visit ICP customer happiness centres located across the country. The exemption is not automatic and requires eligible individuals to complete the registration process. The ICP confirmed that the exemption will remain in effect until December 31, 2025. This generous timeframe offers relief and flexibility for Iranian nationals unable to return home due to airspace closures and geopolitical instability. This is not the first time the UAE has taken such measures in response to conflict. Just last month, Sudanese nationals in the UAE were also granted full exemption from fines related to both residence and entry permits. That policy took effect on May 19, 2025, and was similarly aimed at easing the humanitarian burden caused by the crisis in Sudan. The ICP emphasized that both the Iranian and Sudanese exemptions reflect the UAE's ongoing commitment to supporting affected communities and align with its national efforts to strengthen social and humanitarian well-being among residents.

Gang rape at beach throws spotlight on tourist police cell infra, staff shortage
1 2 3 Bhubaneswar: The gang rape of a 20-year-old college student on a beach in Ganjam district on Sunday has raised questions about the effectiveness of tourist police cells in ensuring safety of visitors. Eight tourist police cells were set up in 2015 in various locations — three in Bhubaneswar (at Lingaraj, Dhauli and Nandankanan police stations), three in Puri (at Sea Beach, Konark and Brahmagiri police stations), and one each at Gopalpur and Chandipur police stations. The cells are facing challenges in effective functioning due to inadequate infrastructure and staff shortage, operating with existing police station personnel. "While each cell has a sanctioned strength of at least a sub-inspector, an assistant SI and six constables, they are running with half the number. Even though they are supposed to deal with tourist related matters, these personnel are being engaged in routine policing job," said a police officer, requesting anonymity. The cells largely handle complaints about theft and robbery of tourist belongings, with additional reports of tourist harassment in Puri and Bhubaneswar. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Tourism secretary Balwant Singh told TOI, "We previously sent a proposal to the home department, requesting to strengthen the existing tourist police cells with adequate manpower and other infrastructure. We will again pursue the matter." Sources in the home department said the tourist police cells will be strengthened soon. "Recruitment plans are under consideration of the govt," a home department official said. Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the tourism portfolio, emphasised tourist safety is a priority. "I have already spoken with state police to enhance the safety measures at tourist destinations," Parida said. The Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) had prepared a 'Tourist Police Scheme' report in 2022, advising states to develop standard operating procedures, implement training for 'tourist cops', and establish uniform guidelines. "We will conduct security audits and training programmes for tourism stakeholders. Proposals will be sent to local administrations to improve lighting systems and install CCTV cameras at popular tourist destinations. We will also improve police visibility and surveillance," a senior police officer said. Police said the state witnesses minimal tourist-related crime. "Molestation of a Swedish woman near Lingaraj Temple in 2024 was the lone case against a foreigner reported in the state in the last four years. The case ended in conviction of the accused within three weeks. The number of offences involving theft and snatching of articles of domestic tourists is minimal," the police officer said. The state received about 1.09 crore domestic and 53,392 foreign tourists in 2024, with Puri, Konark and Chilika lake the key attractions.
