Aditya Birla Capital shares rise to highest since 2017 after block trades

Shares of Aditya Birla Capital rose nearly 3 per cent on Wednesday's intraday trade after about 46.8 million shares changed hands in pre-market block trades.
Aditya Birla Capital's stock rose as much as 2.98 per cent during the day to ₹249.89 per share, the highest level since its listing in January 2017. Once the shares were listed at ₹250 per share in 2017, the stock rose to a high of ₹255 during that session, which also remained the life high, so far.
The stock pared gains to trade 1.7 per cent higher at ₹246.8 apiece, compared to a 0.13 per cent advance in Nifty 50 as of 10:30 AM.
Shares of the company extended gains to their sixth straight day with a rally of over 12 per cent. The counter has risen 40 per cent this year, compared to a 6.3 per cent fall in the benchmark Nifty 50. Aditya Birla Capital has a total market capitalisation of ₹64,965.58 crore.

The investment company had about 46.8 million shares, or a 1.8 per cent stake changed hands in three pre-market block trades, according to Bloomberg data. The buyers and sellers were not known immediately.
However, the news agency had earlier reported that Jomei Investments Ltd. had offered as much as 46.8 million shares or a 1.8 per cent stake in Aditya Birla Capital via block trades. The company sought to raise as much as ₹1,110 crore, Bloomberg said, quoting the term sheet. The floor price for the transaction was set at ₹237.81 per share, a 2 per cent discount to the previous close price on NSE.
Spark Institutional Equities Pvt. and IIFL Capital Services were managing the deal, the report said. As of March 2025, Jomei Investments had about a 3.84 per cent stake in the company, according to BSE data.
Aditya Birla Capital Q4 results
Aditya Birla Capital reported a net profit of ₹885 crore in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2024-25, marking a 6 per cent rise from last year's Q4 PAT when adjusted for one-off gains from the sale of shares in its asset management business.
However, the company's Q4 revenue from operations has increased 13 per cent to ₹12,214.04 crore, the company had posted a revenue of ₹10,779.71 crore in last year's Q4. As of March 31, 2025, the total lending portfolio (including NBFC and HFC) expanded 27 per cent year-on-year and 8 per cent sequentially to ₹1,57,404 crore.

The Nifty ended below the 24,900 level. The market was volatile due to the weekly expiry of the Nifty F&O series today. All the sectoral indices on the NSE ended in red. As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, tanked 823.16 points or 1% to 81,691.98. The Nifty 50 index slipped 253.20 points or 1.01% to 24,888.20. The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index declined 1.52% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index fell 1.38%. The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 1,286 shares rose and 2,723 shares fell. A total of 142 shares were unchanged. The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, rose 2.54% to 14.02. Buzzing Index: The Nifty Realty index slipped 1.68% to 1,010. The index rose 0.09% in the past trading session. Anant Raj (down 2.95%), Phoenix Mills (down 2.9%), Godrej Properties (down 2.41%), DLF (down 2.35%), Sobha (down 2.12%), Brigade Enterprises (down 2%), Macrotech Developers (down 1.86%), Prestige Estates Projects (down 1.31%), Raymond (down 0.98%) and Oberoi Realty (down 0.53%) declined. Stocks in Spotlight: Sterlite Technologies (STL) surged 9.40% after the company announced it secured a Rs 2,631 crore contract from BSNL for building and maintaining the middle-mile network under BharatNet in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Tanla Platforms surged 8.46% after the company announced that its board will meet on Monday, 16 June 2025, to consider a proposal for the buyback of equity shares and other related matters. SEPC surged 4.21% after it bagged a letter of award worth Rs 650 crore from Parmeshi Urja for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 133 megawatt (AC) solar power project spread across 26 locations in Maharashtra. Shakti Pumps India advanced 2.76% after the company announced that it has received a letter of award (LoA) worth Rs 114.58 crore from the Maharashtra Energy Department Agency (MEDA). Zee Entertainment added 1.25% after the company announced that its board will meet on Monday, 16 June 2025, where an investment banker will present and discuss the companys growth initiatives for the next three to five years. NIBE rose 0.21%. The firm has received a purchase order from one of the leading Infra and Defence companies for the supply of Armor Plate MIL12560 (ARMOUR) for a total consideration of Rs 23.33 crore. H.G. Infra Engineering fell 1.83%. The company announced that it has been declared the lowest (L1) bidder for the role of Transmission Service Provider (TSP) for the development of an Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) in the state of Odisha. Canara Bank fell 1.37%. The bank announced a 50 basis points (bps) reduction in its Repo Linked Lending Rate (RLLR), bringing it down from 8.75% to 8.25%, in line with the Reserve Bank of Indias latest repo rate cut. Global Markets: US Dow Jones futures were down 265 points, signaling a weak start for Wall Street. European markets traded lower on Thursday after the UK economy shrank more than expected. The U.K. economy shrank by a larger-than-expected 0.3% in April from Marchthe biggest monthly drop since October 2023. U.K. goods exports to the U.S. dropped 2 billion pounds ($2.71 billion) in April, according to the Office for National Statistics, the biggest monthly drop since records began in 1997. The value of exports was the lowest since February 2022, with the ONS saying the shift was likely linked to the implementation of tariffs on goods imported to the United States. U.S. imports to the U.K. fell by 400 million pounds for the month. Asian stocks ended mixed as investors reacted to U.S. President Donald Trumps statement that a trade agreement with China was done, pending final approval from both himself and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump indicated that the deal would include a 55% tariff on Chinese imports, a figure later confirmed by Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who stated that tariffs would remain at that level. RIL sells Asian Paints shares worth ₹7,703 crore via block deal

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its subsidiary Siddhant Commercials Limited, on Wednesday sold 35 million equity shares of Asian Paints at ₹2,201 per share. The total deal is valued at approximately ₹7,703.5 crore. According to an exchange filing by the company, the shares were sold at ₹2,201 apiece. Post-sale, RIL continues to hold 8.7 million equity shares in Asian Paints. Change in Asian Paints shareholding structure Prior to the transaction, Siddhant Commercials held a 4.9 per cent stake in Asian Paints as of March 2025. A substantial part of that has now been offloaded, altering the company's overall shareholding pattern. The identities of the buyers involved in the block deal have not yet been disclosed. Despite RIL's partial exit, Asian Paints remains widely held by institutional investors. Domestic mutual funds collectively hold around 5.67 per cent of the company's equity, with ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund and SBI Mutual Fund owning 1.24 per cent and 1.51 per cent, respectively. LIC, retail investors among top stakeholders The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) remains the largest public institutional investor in Asian Paints, with an 8.29 per cent stake, according to data reported by Mint. Retail investor participation is also strong. Roughly 11.84 per cent of Asian Paints' shares are owned by 1.17 crore small investors, each with holdings valued at less than ₹2 lakh. Shares of Reliance Industries closed at ₹1,439.60 apiece on the BSE at Thursday's market close, while Asian Paints ended the session at ₹2,218.05.
