RIL sells Asian Paints shares worth ₹7,703 crore via block deal
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its subsidiary Siddhant Commercials Limited, on Wednesday sold 35 million equity shares of Asian Paints at ₹2,201 per share. The total deal is valued at approximately ₹7,703.5 crore.
According to an exchange filing by the company, the shares were sold at ₹2,201 apiece. Post-sale, RIL continues to hold 8.7 million equity shares in Asian Paints.
Change in Asian Paints shareholding structure
Prior to the transaction, Siddhant Commercials held a 4.9 per cent stake in Asian Paints as of March 2025. A substantial part of that has now been offloaded, altering the company's overall shareholding pattern.
The identities of the buyers involved in the block deal have not yet been disclosed.
Despite RIL's partial exit, Asian Paints remains widely held by institutional investors. Domestic mutual funds collectively hold around 5.67 per cent of the company's equity, with ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund and SBI Mutual Fund owning 1.24 per cent and 1.51 per cent, respectively.
LIC, retail investors among top stakeholders
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) remains the largest public institutional investor in Asian Paints, with an 8.29 per cent stake, according to data reported by Mint.
Retail investor participation is also strong. Roughly 11.84 per cent of Asian Paints' shares are owned by 1.17 crore small investors, each with holdings valued at less than ₹2 lakh.
Shares of Reliance Industries closed at ₹1,439.60 apiece on the BSE at Thursday's market close, while Asian Paints ended the session at ₹2,218.05.

Middle East conflict hits stocks of crude oil-sensitive firms
New Delhi: Shares of crude oil sensitive sectors — oil marketing companies, aviation, paints, adhesives and tyres — declined on Friday following a spike in global oil benchmark Brent crude prices amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The stock of BPCL fell by 1.90 per cent, Indian Oil Corporation dropped 1.78 per cent and HPCL declined 1.41 per cent on the BSE. In intra-day trade, BPCL tanked 6.11 per cent, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd tumbled 5.34 per cent and Indian Oil Corporation dropped 3.91 per cent. Shares of InterGlobe Aviation edged lower by 3.71 per cent and those of SpiceJet dipped 1.95 per cent. During the day, SpiceJet fell 5.64 per cent and InterGlobe Aviation dropped 5.62 per cent. Global oil benchmark Brent crude jumped 8.39 per cent to USD 75.20 a barrel. 'Geopolitical tensions are heating up, and it's impacting the oil market! Israel's airstrikes on Iran have sparked fears of supply disruptions, causing crude oil prices to surge. The worry is that the situation could escalate into a full-blown regional crisis, which would have significant implications for global oil supplies,' Navneet Damani, Group Senior VP, Head Commodities Research, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, said.

LIC, Bajaj Allianz Relax Insurance Claim Procedures For Victims Of Air India Flight AI 171 Crash
Last Updated: LIC announces that in place of a death certificate, any govt record indicating death due to the crash or proof of compensation paid by the govt or the airline will be accepted. A day after the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad, state-owned Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and private insurance firm Bajaj Allianz on Friday announced a series of measures to relax the insurance claim procedures to support the affected families. In an official statement, LIC said it would expedite claim settlements for its policyholders affected by the tragedy. 'LIC of India is committed to supporting those affected and will expedite claim settlements to provide financial relief," the statement read. It has relaxed documentation requirements to minimise procedural hurdles for grieving families. LIC's Relaxation in Proof of Death Rules LIC announced that in lieu of a death certificate, any official government record citing the policyholder's death due to the crash will be accepted. Additionally, proof of compensation paid by the central or state government or airline authorities will be treated as sufficient evidence of death. 'LIC of India has announced many concessions to mitigate the hardships of the claimants of LIC Policies. In lieu of death certificates, any evidence in Government Records of death of the policyholder due to the plane crash or any compensation paid by Central/State Government /Airline Authorities will be accepted as proof of death," the company said in a statement. LIC also said it has instructed its teams across India to proactively reach out to affected families. Special cells have been activated across its branches, divisions, and customer zones. 'All efforts will be taken to ensure that the claimants are reached out and claims are settled expeditiously to the affected families," LIC stated. It said that for immediate support, claimants may visit the nearest LIC branch or customer service zone or call LIC's dedicated helpline at 022-68276827. In the statement, the company said, 'LIC of India expresses deep grief over the death of on-board passengers and crew members of Air India flight AI 171 and also people on the ground who were killed due to the plane crash in Ahmedabad." Air India Flight AI 171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner bound for London, on June 12 crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, resulting in 241 deaths on board and few on the building it fell on. Bajaj Allianz Eases Claim Settlement Rules Bajaj Allianz On Thursday also announced a simplified claim settlement process for policyholders. 'For quicker assistance, we have setup a Simplified Claim Settlement Process for Bajaj Allianz Life Policyholders," it said, while relaxing norms for submitting policy claims and simplified the documents that will be required. Claimnants need to submit – Certificate / Evidence from Government Authority / Aviation Authority/Hospital Official confirming death due to the air crash. With the deals combined, the Jhunjhunwala family no longer holds any stake in the gaming and esports firm. Nazara Technologies, which went public in March 2021, operates across multiple segments including mobile gaming, esports, and gamified learning. The company has expanded its presence beyond India into markets such as North America, the Middle East, and Africa. Jhunjhunwala, who passed away in August 2022, had built a significant position in Nazara Technologies post-IPO. Jhunjhunwala had first put Rs 180 crore in the Mumbai-based company in 2017. Nazara Technologies has completed multiple acquisitions in 2025 so far. In January, it acquired two mobile game titles from ZeptoLab for $7.7 million. In May, it acquired UK-based game publisher Curve Games for Rs 247 crore.
