Guardians-Twins suspended due to rain, will resume Tuesday
May 20 - The game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Minnesota Twins was suspended at the top of the fourth inning because of inclement weather Monday night in Minneapolis.
The Twins announced that the game would resume, weather permitting, at 5:10 p.m. CT on Tuesday. The teams will start the regularly scheduled Tuesday game approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest.
Minnesota led 2-1 when play was suspended on a cool, rainy evening.
The Guardians opened the scoring on a two-out, RBI double by Kyle Manzardo in the first inning. Angel Martinez, who had hit an infield single, scored.
In the bottom of the first, Ty France evened the score at 1-all with an RBI single to center field that drove in Ryan Jeffers.
Minnesota pulled ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the second. Willi Castro put the Twins on top with his 100th career double, which drove in Harrison Bader from first base.
Twins right-hander Bailey Ober allowed one run on three hits in three innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.
Guardians left-hander Logan Allen surrendered two runs on four hits in three innings. He walked one and fanned three.

June 11 - The Minnesota Twins claimed left-hander Joey Wentz off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Wentz, 27, went 2-1 this season with a 4.15 ERA in 19 relief appearances with the Pirates. A first-round pick by the Atlanta Braves in 2016, Wentz is 8-18 with a 5.40 ERA 97 games (26 starts) with the Detroit Tigers (2022-24) and Pirates (2024-25). Right-wing media star Megyn Kelly called out US Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles after the gold medalist's blistering attacks on anti-trans activist Riley Gaines. On Friday, Gaines - a former swimmer who used her defeat to a trans woman to launch a career as a political commentator - retweeted a picture of Minnesota team Champlin Park celebrating the state high school title that they won with transgender pitcher Marissa Rothenberger on the team. 'Comments off lol,' Gaines wrote in response to the post. 'To be expected when your star player is a boy.' It sparked a blistering response from Biles, 28, who first criticized Gaines' view and then compared her appearance to a man. We all want a future for sport that is fair, inclusive, and respectful.' Biles also shared her apology on Instagram, captioning an image of her statement with three silver hearts. Her husband Jonathan Owens, an NFL player for the Chicago Bears, also shared the statement on his own Instagram. Gaines replied: 'I accept Simone's apology for the personal attacks including the ones where she body-shamed me. I know she knows what this feels like. Rangers score season-high 16 runs in rout of Twins
June 11 - Kyle Higashioka doubled and drove in five runs, Josh Jung doubled and drove in four runs and the Texas Rangers stormed to a 16-4 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night in Minneapolis. Evan Carter went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs for Texas, which set a season high in runs. Wyatt Langford also homered as the Rangers won the opener of a three-game series. Matt Wallner homered for the Twins, who fell to 1-3 with two games remaining on their homestand. Byron Buxton went 3-for-4 with a double. Rangers right-hander Tyler Mahle (6-3) earned the victory despite allowing four runs on 10 hits and a walk in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three. Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (2-3) surrendered seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out four on the same day he was promoted from Triple-A St. Paul to fill the rotation spot of injured starter Zebby Matthews. The Rangers led 3-2 after four innings before erupting for five runs in the fifth. Jung started the big inning with a two-run single to left, and Higashioka followed two batters later with a two-run double to right. Josh Smith added an RBI single to put the Rangers on top 8-2. The Twins pulled within 8-3 on Ryan Jeffers' RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. Carter continued the Rangers' hit parade with a two-run blast to make it 10-3 in the sixth. He pulled a 394-foot shot to right for his second homer in as many games. Wallner led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer to cut the deficit to 10-4. Texas put the game away with a six-run eighth inning. Langford led off with a 395-foot homer to left, and Carter drove in the second run of the inning with an RBI single to right. Jung delivered next with a two-run double to center to make it 14-4.
