Byron Buxton Bluntly Shuts Down Ongoing Twins Trade Rumors

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Minnesota Twins aren't winning nearly as many games this season as everybody seemed to expect. Because of that, they're seemingly left scrambling for trade deadline moves. Rather than buying at the deadline, it seems like the Twins will be sellers. Pitchers like Joe Ryan have been mentioned, though there don't seem to be any confirmed reports that he's being discussed. Relievers Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax are quite intriguing trade candidates, too. They have team control and are putting together excellent seasons. Outfielder Byron Buxton is finally putting together a healthy campaign and he's been incredible. There are a few media outlets suggesting he could be traded, but it doesn't make much sense. During the All-Star break, the star outfielder was asked about the possibility of him being traded at some point this season. When asked, Buxton shut down the rumors. I got a no-trade clause. I'm a Minnesota Twin for the rest of my life," Buxton said when asked about potentially being traded. "So that's the best feeling in the world, knowing I get to walk into a clubhouse and it's going to say 'Twins' for the rest of my life." If you're a front office exec at the MLB trade deadline thinking, 'hey, maybe the Twins would move Byron Buxton'... just put the phone down. "I can't be traded. I gotta no-trade clause. The star outfielder wants to stay in Minnesota, and he has the ability to do so because of his no-trade clause. If Buxton is completely unwilling to waive his no-trade clause, which appears to be the case, the rumors should end here. There shouldn't be any more discussion about him as a trade candidate. Instead, we should look into how excellent of a season he's having. More MLB: Why Padres 'Trade Deadline Dream Scenario' Makes Perfect Sense For San Diego

Twins becoming sellers could change everything for Yankees, Mets at trade deadline

Not all borderline playoff teams are created equal. When it comes to spicing up the trade deadline, the Diamondbacks and Twins particularly stand out as pivot clubs who, if they turn to sellers in the next two weeks, could substantially deepen the quantity and quality of the market. Sign Up Now With two walk-year starters (Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly) and corner infielders (Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez), Arizona – three games under .500 and 5 1/2 back of the wild card at the break – have tantalizing pieces for a clearance sale. What makes Minnesota even more intriguing is the potential to move high-end pieces that have control beyond this year. The Twins are two games under .500 and four back of the wild card. Their head of baseball operations, Derek Falvey, joined 'The Show with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman' podcast and described his club as still deciding whether to buy, sell, both or neither – and just how deep (just walk year guys or more) to sell should they spin that way. 'We have to take stock of reality as we get close to the end of July,' Falvey said.

Braves Get Trade Update From $100 Million Home Run Derby Star

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Atlanta Braves have found themselves at the middle of trade deadline speculation as their season slips off the rails. Amid some injury setbacks and offensive regression, the Braves hit the All-Star break with a 42-53 record that put them more than a dozen games back of the lead in the National League East division. As a result, contending teams are hoping to see the team trade away its competitive players and embark on a significant rebuild. But instead, the Braves seem set on a minor reset as they look to return to contention next season. "On paper, the Braves are a force to be reckoned with, assuming they can stay healthy," Robert Murray wrote for FanSided. "That has been their problem this season, and it's something to monitor ahead of the next campaign. However, there's little reason to punt on the future due to bad luck." (Photo by Matthew Grimes Jr./) More Grimes/Getty With hopes of turning things around in the near future, it's possible the Braves would look to add a piece or two who can contribute for years to come. But at least one potential trade candidate, Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins, has reportedly ruled out joining the Braves. "Meantime, Byron Buxton said he wouldn't consider waiving his no-trade anywhere, even for his hometown Braves," Jon Heyman reported for the New York Post. "'I'm a Twin,' said Buxton, who cited loyalty shown by the Twins organization and fans despite his extensive injury history." Even with those injuries, there might have been reason for the Braves to hope they could have landed Buxton this season. The Twins could be headed toward trading away their most intriguing players as the franchise is up for sale. And Buxton is enjoying a great campaign, with 21 homers already and a strong showing at the Home Run Derby in Atlanta on Monday. Buxton is in the fourth season of a seven-year, $100 million contract with the Twins, so he might have been a strong replacement for pending free agent Marcell Ozuna in the seasons to come. But apparently he won't approve a trade that sends him anywhere else. More MLB: Suspended Dodgers MVP Candidate Has Comeback Interest From 'Multiple Teams': Report

Dodgers Announce Pitching Trade Before All-Star Game

Dodgers Announce Pitching Trade Before All-Star Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially seen enough of pitcher Noah Davis, trading the right-hander to the Minnesota Twins on Monday. Advertisement Davis, a 28-year-old who has pitched in parts of the last four seasons, posted a horrific 19.50 ERA and 8-5 K-BB ratio in six innings. Most of that damage came on July 4, when the Houston Astros rocked him for 10 earned runs in 1 1/3 innings. The Dodgers designated Davis for assignment last Friday. Minnesota has already assigned him to Triple-A St. Paul. It's been a frustrating few years for Davis, who debuted with the Colorado Rockies at the end of 2022. Davis owns an 8.95 ERA in 57 1 1/3 big-league innings, and he's tallied -1.8 bWAR over those 23 games. Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Noah DavisJayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images Davis opened his Dodgers career with three scoreless outings in his first four games. The exception came when he allowed three runs and blew the save in a 7-6 loss to the Chicago Cubs on April 23. Advertisement We'll see if Davis benefits from a change of scenery, especially given his mixed numbers with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate. Davis recorded a 3.94 ERA in 32 innings at Oklahoma City, though his 4.2 walks-per-nine remains especially concerning. The 47-49 Twins entered the All-Star Break 11 1/2 games out of first place. Minnesota is four games out in the AL Wild Card race. Twins may be open for business on pair of relievers

If the Twins fall further, they might listen on star closer Jhoan Duran and setup man Griffin Jax. As a team for sale, finances may be affecting things. Meantime, Byron Buxton said he wouldn't consider waiving his no-trade anywhere, even for his hometown Braves. 'I'm a Twin,' said Buxton, who cited loyalty shown by the Twins organization and fans despite his extensive injury history. Sources suggest the Rangers are a very unlikely seller. 'Former players don't sell,' opined one rival exec regarding Rangers honcho Chris Young, the ex-pitcher. That means Jacob deGrom isn't going anywhere.
