Golden retriever demands owners check on baby and what they find leaves them in tears

A mum has shared her dog's heartwarming reaction after she brought her baby son home - and says her household has never been the same since her little one's arrival
An adorable dog has stolen hearts after stepping up into a parental role after the birth of his human baby brother. Golden retriever Winston has been taking his duties seriously - and even keeps his owners Roissy and Alexander Koeneke in check.

The 29-year-old mum, from San Diego, Califonia, has taken to social media to share a clip of her one-year-old dog in action, sharing how he keeps an eye on her baby. In a clip, Winston is seen standing starring at his owner from the hallway prompting her to follow him to the baby's bedroom.

He refuses to move a muscle until she stands up and makes her way over. Following this, the pooch is seen checking on the three-month-old, making sure he's happy, healthy and all of his needs have been tended to.

In her TikTok caption, Riossy, who is known as @windston.goldenpup online, wrote: "We needs a nanny when you have a golden".
Alongside this, she wrote in the video: "My dog will keep staring at my husband and I until either of us checks on our baby. And he will follow to make sure we actually stop making him cry."
Speaking to Newsweek, she said: "He has such good hearing so he hears the baby before us, and that's when we know sometimes that a cry is about to come. Then he gives us such a sassy side eye when we don't stand up immediately!
She says Winston was "full of excitement" when his baby brother came into the world - and is always nearby in case he needs anything.
Dedicated to the job, she says the pooch even wakes up for midnight feeds and nappy changes.

She added: "One time, we saw he left this toy in his water bowl, and he's never done this before, but he was probably just super-tired for choosing to wake up with the baby each time.
"One of the sweetest things he does is try to soothe the baby with his paw. We're always careful when it happens."
Commenting on her video, one user said: "Our dog howls if the baby is crying and he comes to get me (mum) if someone else is taking too long to soothe the baby."

Another user added: "My girl was like this. Now my son, 5, is confused why she doesn't listen to him like she does me.
"She will literally look at me so confused when he tries to do her training. She helped me raise you!
"You literally learned to crawl to get to her and now you're boss? I'd be confused too. Went by so fast."
A third user said: "He is so ashamed. He has taught y'all better than this. The disappointment is adorable."
One more user added: "OMG, that's so adorable. Well done Winston. That's what you call protective. Bless him."

But it was in the voiceover to which Helena mimed to, that she may have taken a swipe at her fellow contestants, Shakira, Toni Laites and Yasmin Pettet. The audio was a clip from an interview with actress Ariana Greenblatt, who played the 'mean girl' daughter in the Barbie movie. Ariana says: "Whatever, we all know blondes have more fun, because their bleach is in their hair, let's talk about it." Helena's use of the audio could be seen as a dig to Shakira, Toni and Yasmin, who were often billed as the being given the 'mean girls' edit during this series of Love Island. Her TikTok also coincided with the release of an i-D Magazine feature interview with the three Islanders where they talked about feeling grateful they could represent brunettes and in Shakira's case, the South Asian community. "What have I signed up for?" Shakira said in the i-D interview. 'Everyone's gonna love the blonde hair, blue-eyed girls, we see year in year out on Love Island. I thought, based on initial attraction, it wasn't going to go well for me, but I was pleasantly surprised.' Shakira, Toni and Yasmin also addressed the ongoing feuds and rivalries in the villa describing at "classic High School behaviour". 'We felt that massively in the changing room, the snickers, the whispers, the dirty look," Shakira said. "When you come around the corner and they stop talking, you feel isolated, it feels frosty, really tense, and it's not nice. "It wasn't a bad edit; we tried to fix it, but that was our experience, we lived it.' Despite having a rocky relationship with some of their co-stars, the trio stuck together and gracefully took on every obstacle thrown at them. Toni won the series alongside Cach and scooped a prize of £50k, while Shakira and Harry and Yas and Jamie are also going strong. Despite each bagging themselves a new fella, they have proudly said that the real prize is the friendships they made.

Moray TikTok star with 390k followers shines a light on cerebral palsy

A rising Moray TikTok star has been recognised by the Scottish Parliament for his work to raise understanding of cerebral palsy. Craig Duncan lives with the condition every day and his 'CraigTok' page documents its challenges and how he overcomes them. The 22-year-old started his TikTok account a couple of years ago for fun, with no idea how it would grow. He recalls switching his first viral video between public and private because he was 'nervous about negative comments'. But since then, the young man from Fochabers has amassed approaching 400,000 followers on the social media platform. He has received messages of love and support from around the world – and now his efforts have been applauded at Holyrood. The parliament heard glowing praise for Craig thanks to a motion put forward by Karen Adam, who is the SNP MSP for Banffshire and Buchan Coast. She commended Craig for his impactful use of TikTok to raise awareness and understanding of cerebral palsy. The Scottish Parliament praised his courage, humour and honesty in sharing his experience, and wished him continued success in his advocacy. Speaking to the Press and Journal, Ms Adam said: 'Craig's work is nothing short of inspirational. 'He has created a space where people with cerebral palsy can feel seen, valued and uplifted. 'At the same time, he's opening minds in wider society, helping to break down stigma and build understanding. 'I'm so proud to commend him in Parliament and I wish him every success as he continues this important work of advocacy and awareness raising.' When asked how it felt to be recognised by the Scottish Parliament for his work, Craig said, 'It's an honour. 'I've had so many messages from people saying I've helped them. 'The reason I share my story is because it helps them as much as it does myself.' Throughout his journey, Craig's family have been his biggest fans. 'My family have been the driving force in helping me with my mental health,' he said. 'A couple of years ago I was in a really bad spot, but with their support and help through college, I started to get better.' Craig's dad, Allan Duncan, has been by his side every step of the way. He says seeing the difference TikTok has made to his son has been 'incredible.' 'I think putting his thoughts out there has helped Craig process things for himself, while also helping others,' Allan said. 'Social media can be a great thing, but there are negatives too. 'That's why I always say, if you're going to put yourself out there, make sure you've got strong support. 'That's what we try to give him. 'And by the way, having over 380,000 followers hasn't changed him. 'He's still the same Craig who forgets to put the dishes in the dishwasher.' The beauty of Craig's content is its honesty. He's not afraid to share his physical struggles and difficult moments with his mental health, breaking down the stigma that often surrounds them. Craig maintains a positive mindset in life, and it shines through in the way he presents himself in his videos. He said: 'I've always thought my condition could have been worse. 'I could have ended up in a wheelchair or without a voice. 'I've been fortunate.' Craig concludes with a powerful reflection, 'It took me a long time to come to terms with my disability. 'For years I thought 'I'm disabled and my name is Craig'. 'But now I see it differently. My name is Craig and I happen to have a disability.'
