After becoming new manager of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso keeps running in the headlines. He has made a statement regarding his player Rodrygo who was rumoured to be unhappy with his situation at the club and reportedly wanted to join some new club. However, the manager has denied this rumour and he feels the player is ready to give his everything for the club next season.
After stepping into the managerial hot seat at Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso has continued to make headlines—this time with a clear message regarding winger Rodrygo Goes. Amid swirling rumours suggesting the Brazilian was unhappy at the club and eyeing a move elsewhere, Alonso has firmly denied any such claims.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of Madrid's FIFA Club World Cup clash against Al Hilal, Alonso expressed full confidence in Rodrygo's commitment and mentality.
'I know what happened with Rodrygo last season. He took some time to reset. I see him eager to contribute on the field, hungry and ready to enjoy himself. We've talked about it and shared it,' said the Real Madrid boss.
Rodrygo endured an inconsistent campaign last season, which sparked speculation about his future at the Santiago Bernabéu. However, under Alonso's guidance, it appears the 23-year-old is prepared to turn a new page and fight for his place in the starting lineup.

Al-Hilal mainstay reveals truth behind collapsed Real Madrid transfer – ‘From what I understand…'
Yassine Bounou, better known in football circles as Bono, is preparing to face Real Madrid as Al Hilal's goalkeeper in the FIFA Club World Cup. The match is particularly special for the Moroccan international, as he was once on the verge of joining Los Blancos himself. Advertisement It must be noted that Bounou made his name with Sevilla. Ironically, he could have been wearing the white shirt of Real Madrid had things turned out differently last summer. After Thibaut Courtois suffered a serious knee injury in August 2023, Real Madrid explored their options to replace the Belgian. Bounou confirmed in an interview with Canal Sur Radio that he was their first choice. 'That's what I understand,' he said. Why the move never happened? Despite being the top candidate for the role, Bounou's potential absence during the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024 became a sticking point. Bono was once wanted by Real Madrid. (Photo by) Advertisement 'The board looked at everything. I would have missed many games in a key month, and that wasn't ideal for Madrid,' Bounou explained. 'They also had other loan options that suited them better.' Eventually, Real Madrid brought in Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea. But it was Andriy Lunin who stepped up and made the starting position his own in Courtois' absence. Facing familiar foes Bounou is no stranger to Real Madrid. He has played against them ten times, with just two wins and a draw to show for it. In those matches, he has conceded 25 goals. Still, the 34-year-old is looking forward to the challenge. 'I've met many Madrid fans on the streets in Spain. There's always been mutual respect,' he said. Advertisement 'It will be a great honour to play against them now wearing the shirt of Al Hilal, a club that is recognised around the world.' Now with a new chapter in front of him, Bounou will be hoping to turn the tables and lead Al Hilal to an upset win, something that would make this reunion all the more memorable. Source: MARCA

Neymar Sr. says his son is attracting interest from Champions League clubs
Since leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar (33) has played just a handful of games. After suffering an ACL injury, he made just seven appearances for Al Hilal, whilst injuries have also restricted the Brazilian to just four league appearances since re-joining his formative club, Santos. He is currently in a familiar position, recovering from injury and building up fitness. However, speaking to L'Équipe, his father, Neymar Sr., has said that his son still retains value on the market and there is no shortage of interested clubs. Advertisement 'They have the right to think that he is finished, but I see an interested market,' he told the publication. He then went on to reveal that clubs in Europe who will next season play in the UEFA Champions League are interested in signing the former PSG and Barcelona forward. L'Équipe understands that Fenerbahçe, notably, are interested in signing the player. Neymar Sr. added that this week, he will be in Miami to talk with clubs, whilst he didn't rule out his son remaining in Brazil. 'There is a big chance that he stays at Santos. I'm working on that, but that doesn't prevent us from listening to other clubs,' he added. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
