WOM India's Financial Systems Recognised for Industry Excellence with CMA Award
The award was presented by CMA WIRC President Arindam Goswami, who praised Annachhatre's 'laser-focused accountability and strategic foresight' in a note accompanying the award. Annachhatre, who has led the finance function at WOM India for over a decade, accepted the honour, noting its relevance to the company's financial ethos. 'This award renews my resolve to push financial boundaries, not just for our company but for India's wider manufacturing ecosystem,' he said. WOM India gets recognition of Financial Leadership
WOM India, based in Pune, designs and manufactures high-performance pressure control equipment—such as gate valves and choke valves—for the global oil and gas sector. Its facility supports vertically integrated operations from raw material processing to assembly and testing, enabling end-to-end control over product quality and delivery timelines. This structure also demands precision in financial planning, inventory management, and export compliance, particularly under India's SEZ and EOU regulatory regimes.
A key pillar of WOM India's success has been its ability to implement forward-looking financial frameworks. The finance team introduced disciplined working capital models to help the company weather currency volatility and commodity price shifts. Regular inventory reconciliations and export receivables hedging mechanisms have helped reduce leakage and protect the company's global revenue streams.
At WOM India, financial discipline goes hand in hand with strategic awareness. The company conducts internal workshops focused on areas like risk management and long-term planning, helping the finance team stay aligned with evolving operational demands. These sessions reflect a broader philosophy within the organisation where financial oversight is seen not as a constraint, but as a contributor to innovation and ethical growth.
'Finance should power innovation, not trail it,' Annachhatre often tells his team, a mindset that has shaped the company's approach to ethics and controllership. At WOM India, financial governance is seen not as a back-end control, but as a foundational element that enables transparency across vendor onboarding, cross-border shipments, and tax frameworks such as GST and FTP incentives.
The award also arrives at a time when global supply chains are under increased scrutiny. With its focus on vertical integration, regulatory discipline, and cross-functional alignment, WOM India continues to demonstrate that financial stewardship is not a support act, it's a competitive advantage.
The company remains an integral part of WOM Group's international operations, which are headquartered in Houston, Texas. Its Pune facility plays a critical role in the group's global supply network by delivering pressure-control equipment used in some of the most demanding upstream energy environments around the world.

Indian Man Flies To Vietnam To Buy MacBook, Saves Rs 36,000 And Gets An 11-Day Vacation
The man noted that the high cost of Apple devices in India is caused by expensive import tariffs, GST and Apple's premium pricing scheme. Buying duty-free goods during international trips is a popular hack among luxury shoppers. Recently, a Reddit user went viral for sharing how he managed to buy a new MacBook at a significantly lower price, while also enjoying an 11-day vacation in Vietnam. Surprisingly, the total cost of his trip plus the laptop turned out to be less than what he would've spent on just the MacBook in India. Sharing a breakdown of the expenses, the Redditor noted that the high cost of Apple devices in India is caused by expensive import tariffs, Goods and Services Tax (GST), and Apple's premium pricing scheme. But his plan saved him a lot of money despite getting a premium quality product. 'If you're planning to buy a MacBook or iPhone worth Rs 2 lakh+ in India, trust me, it's worth making a short trip to Vietnam. You'll get the device cheaper and squeeze in a mini vacation," he wrote on Reddit. According to the post, the traveller booked the cheapest round-trip flight to Hanoi, worked remotely during his stay, and spent his free time exploring the city. Determined to get the best deal, he visited around 15 stores in search of the lowest price. His strategy was to take advantage of Vietnam's reduced Apple prices and tourist-friendly VAT refund policy. He wrote, 'Always ask: 'Do you provide VAT refund documents for the airport?' Some stores won't." In India, the desired MacBook would cost approximately Rs 1,85,000, even with card incentives. However, by purchasing it in Vietnam from a store that produced the correct VAT documentation and claiming the return at the airport, he was able to obtain the same model for approximately Rs 1,48,000. This transaction alone saved him Rs 36,500, approximately the cost of his flight. What makes the strategy even more astounding is the total expense. The vacation cost approximately Rs 2,80,000, which included the MacBook, flight tickets, accommodation, meals, and other activities. After the VAT refund was processed, his total cost decreased to around Rs 1,97,000. After subtracting the cost of the MacBook, the total cost of the Vietnam trip was only Rs 48,000. Here's How Social Media Users Reacted The post immediately went viral, eliciting a range of reactions from other users. A person wrote, 'I have travelled to Vietnam twice in past and I just loved the country. Probably will be travelling again for work later this year, and I am definitely inspired by you." While another asked, 'Can you share with me the full list, where to stay, from where you board the flight in India, and how to manage to get the refund at the airport?" 'Such a great post. Although I just got my Mac your post really made me wanna visit Vietnam for no reason," wrote another one. top videos View all Someone else commented, 'Congrats on your MacBook and hope you had an amazing vacation. Even I was thinking of visiting Vietnam, maybe I will take a vacation there next year. Your post will definitely be helpful for many people planning to do a vacation as well as hunt for a Mac." Dhar becomes top exporting district in MP
Indore: The industrial town of Dhar has become top exporting district in Madhya Pradesh, surpassing Indore, which had held the position for years. This shift was primarily driven by an increase in new industries and strong overseas shipments in garments and textiles. In financial year 2024-25, Dhar accounted for a 26.93 percent share of the state's export basket, according to an export analysis report by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO). Indore followed with a 20.39 percent share, while Raisen held 10.97 percent. Madhya Pradesh's merchandise exports reached Rs 66,218 crore, contributing to the state's highest-ever total exports of Rs 70,256 crore in FY 2024-25. This included Rs 4,038 crore from information technology exports in Special Economic Zones (SEZ). Exports from Dhar stood at Rs 17,830 crore, marking a 61.73 percent increase from the previous fiscal, significantly higher than Indore's Rs 13,500 crore, as per FIEO's analysis. Indore maintained the second position with Rs 13,500 crore, followed by Raisen at Rs 7,264 crore in FY 2024-25. "Dhar has emerged as a sought-after industrial belt, buoyed by its air connectivity and proximity to cargo services. Over the past year, Madhya Pradesh Western Region Electricity Distribution Company provided 110 new high-tension electricity connections to industries in Dhar. The district is home to state's largest industrial belt, Pithampur, and the SEZ, which collectively host major manufacturing units such as Pratibha Syntex Ltd, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, Cipla, Eicher Trucks and Buses, and Mahindra 2-Wheelers. "We have seen a year-on-year jump in exports as demand is firm. This has further supported our decision to expand our presence in the state, and we have decided to invest around Rs 10,000 crore in new industrial parcels in Dhar and Ratlam. The decision was taken after analysing the recently launched policies by the MP govt which are friendly for industries," Dinesh Mishra, a senior executive from a films and foil industry in the SEZ, said. The Indore-Dhar-Dewas region collectively contributed around 53 percent to Madhya Pradesh's record merchandise exports of Rs 66,218 crore during FY 2024-25. Suvidh Shah, additional director general at FIEO's market research development division, highlighted the factors behind Dhar's growth. "The improvement in entrepreneurial ecosystem, availability of labour, and proximity to Inland Container Depots and ports have been pivotal in driving the dramatic increase in exports, particularly in the garment and textile sector." Ujjain contributed 3.46 percent to the state's total exports, achieving a historic milestone with exports reaching Rs 2,288 crore in FY 2024-25. "This unprecedented growth reflects the district's rising industrial capabilities and its expanding footprint in key export sectors like agro-based products, food processing, engineering components, and textiles," Shah said.
