
Jordanian police detains officers for investigation after suspect dies in custody
The prosecutor overseeing the investigation ordered the detention of several Public Security Department (PSD) officers involved in the case, according to an official statement by the PSD.
They are being held at a police correctional and rehabilitation center, pending an investigation by a police judiciary investigation committee, the statement added.
The case will be referred to the police court once the investigation is complete, the spokesman added.
On Sunday, a detainee was transferred to the hospital multiple times from the Ramtha Police Department after being arrested in connection with an investigation.
The hospital visits came after the detainee reported 'abdominal pain,' according to a police statement.
After he underwent medical tests and his health was declared to be in good condition; his condition later worsened, requiring another visit to the hospital's emergency department, where he later died.
The police's statement said at the time that investigations are underway 'to ensure transparency and ascertain all circumstances related to the incident.'
