Back in 2023, in an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Daggubati and Chawla spoke about the show, the legendary actor mentioned above, and their first memories of Mumbai.
On his character
Rana said, 'It's a hyper real world, that's not how real stuff happens, if it's real it would be like a documentary. It's pretty boring. I remember Karan telling me the story he heard from people on what they assume about the entertainment world what the political world looks like what the corrupt world looks like there is a certain heightenedness in all of this. And that's it. I'm the guy that's fixing their problems. It's all done in a manner that is socially correct info that they call Rana.'
He added, 'I came here for the first time as a kid for sure. There was a hotel in Juhu which is now shut, and I went to a restaurant right across that hotel. At that time, Mohra had released. I met Suniel Shetty's body double who was working in that restaurant. That's actually my first memory of Bombay (smiles). It's pretty fascinating but that's the first thing I remember.'

"My mother worked in a film laboratory, so I understood...": Rana Daggubati on nepotism in cinema

Actor , known for his roles in 'Baahubali' and 'Rana Naidu', shared his thoughts about nepotism in the film industry, a point of debate abuzz in the entertainment domains for decades now. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Hailing from a prestigious film family, Rana Daggubati is the son of film producer D and Lakshmi. He shares a close bond with his uncle, superstar Venkatesh Daggubati and is also the cousin of star Naga Chaitanya. In an interview with on Monday, Daggubati emphasised that having a film family background opens up more opportunities and provides a deeper understanding of the industry. He said, "Any industry that your family is from, you understand it more than somebody who's not. How does it help an actor? Ultimately, you have to stand in front of the camera and act. There'll be a lot more opportunities for you. There will be an ecosystem that you understand. It's like if your family is from chemical industries or sugar factories, you'll understand how a sugar factory works and all the byproducts of sugar like that. " The 'Rana Naidu' actor's mother worked in a film laboratory and his father in a film studio. Daggubati admitted that her mother's and father's professions helped him become familiar with the basic functions of film studios and laboratories. "My mother worked in a film laboratory, so I understood what a film laboratory looks like and how it functions. My father worked in a studio, so I understood its function, and my uncle was an actor," said Rana. Daggubati mentioned that the "pressure" to continue his family's legacy motivated him to do something unique, including starting his own production house, Spirit Media, in 2005. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Pressure, in that sense, it was self-inflicted in some manner. You want to do something that is unique, new, and stands out and should stand for a long period of time. Whether it was visual effects, whether it's acting, or producing," said Rana Daggubati. Daggubati is a vocal advocate for contemporary and art house films. Through his production house, he has supported films like 'All We Imagine As Light' directed by Payal Kapadia. He believes that his popularity has given him a platform to promote these types of films. "Cinema is one, language never mattered to me when I was watching it as a child. So growing up and working, it didn't matter which language it was, and I feel there's a voice to all kinds of stories. The first film we made at Spirit Media was an art house film. Art house didn't have any other way to release, and I feel like now, since I got a little bit more popular, I can advocate for some cinema," said Rana Dagubatti. Rana Dagubatti will be next seen in the second season of 'Rana Naidu'. It is directed by Karan Anshuman. Apart from the lead actor, the series also stars , Arjun Rampal and Kriti Kharbanda in prominent roles. The series is slated to release on Netflix on June 13.

NDTV Exclusive: Rana Daggubati On Rana Naidu Season 2 - "It's A Biopic"

Netflix's breakout series Rana Naidu is set to return with a second season. Directed by Karan Anshuman, the upcoming season features Rana Daggubati, Kriti Kharbanda, Arjun Rampal and Venkatesh in key roles. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Rana, Kriti and Karan offered a glimpse into their much-anticipated series. Drawing parallels between his character as a fixer and his real-life experiences as a producer, Rana mentioned the show as a dark biopic of his life. The actor said, "I haven't said this before, but this show is actually a biopic in some sense. It's like a dark reality of my real life." He added, "In India, we work in entertainment, we work in the media in some form, which is a very unstructured style. We are a country that has 10-12 different industries. We speak many more languages than that. In this structure, you have to be fluid to be able to fix things constantly. There will always be trouble, you will always have to fix things that's always a parallel with the show." For Kriti Kharbanda, Rana Naidu Season 2 is a very "exciting" project, allowing her to show a very different side of her to the audience. The actress said, "I was extremely excited about doing this (Rana Naidu Season 2). I couldn't sleep the night before my first day. It was very exciting for me because no one has ever offered me something like this. "It's very contrasting to how I look, the kind of characters I have played. It's very contrasting to the kind of person I am in real life. For me, that was so exciting that finally someone's offering me something different. That was just amazing," she added. Rana Daggubati also talked about attending WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. "That was pretty awesome, actually. All thanks to Netflix. It's the first time I have been there. I spent two nights at WrestleMania and one day at Raw. All my childhood came back in one shot in a very lively world. It was pretty exciting," the actor said. When asked about his favourite moment from the event, he shared, "'Stone Cold' Steve Austin coming and breaking bottles on his head, that was pretty iconic." Coming back to Rana Naidu, Rana Daggubati explained Season 1 to be a story about a "dysfunctional family that couldn't put anything together". Picking up from where it left off, the new season will revolve around the "dysfunctional family trying to get functional and see if normal order can come in their life but the past catches up," concluded Daggubati. Rana Naidu Season 2 will release on June 13 on Netflix.
