Greenridge Exploration acquires Raven Uranium Project in Saskatchewan, Canada

Yahoo04-06-2025
Greenridge Exploration has acquired the Raven Uranium Project in the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan, Canada, through low-cost staking, with no underlying royalties.
The project comprises four mineral claims spread over 6,269 hectares (ha) and is located near the McArthur River Uranium Mine.
The Raven Uranium Project, now 100% owned by Greenridge, is positioned near the eastern margin of the Athabasca Basin, around 65km south-east of the McArthur River Uranium Mine.
Greenridge Exploration's acquisition includes new claims that are contiguous to a single claim already in the company's possession.
Raven is characterised by more than 9km of a historical electromagnetic conductor aligned with a magnetic low, indicative of potential uranium mineralisation.
The region is known for its structural trends, which, when intersected by brittle faults, are considered highly prospective for uranium deposits. Despite its promising features, Raven has no known historical drill-holes, leading Greenridge to consider the property under-explored.
Greenridge possesses data from a 2021 high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey conducted over Raven.
This technology previously aided in the discovery of uranium-bearing boulders at Patterson Lake, leading to the notable Triple R find in November 2012.
Although follow-up prospecting based on historical radiometric surveys has been limited, the company has recommended conducting further surface work.
The company is considering a helicopter-borne electromagnetic survey in 2025, which may coincide with other planned surveys in the area.
In October of the previous year, Greenridge Exploration signed a binding agreement to acquire ALX Resources, marking a strategic move to become a dominant player in the Canadian uranium exploration sector.
This merger creates a combined entity with interests in 16 uranium exploration projects covering approximately 220,000ha across the Athabasca Basin, Thelon Basin and Elliot Lake.
"Greenridge Exploration acquires Raven Uranium Project in Saskatchewan, Canada" was originally created and published by Mining Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.

Canadian approval of Washington crashes under Trump

The drop in support for the U.S. government comes as Trump has engaged in a protracted battle with America's northern neighbor, hitting Canada with steep import tariffs and floating the idea of annexing the country, a proposal that sparked fierce backlash among Canadian citizens and leadership. Less than half of Canadians have generally approved of U.S. leadership since 2017. But Canadians warmed to Washington under the Biden administration, with U.S. leadership briefly receiving a net-positive approval rating in 2021. At the same time, Canadians' approval of their own leadership rose nearly 20 percentage points from last year, with nearly 60 percent of Canadians approving of the country's leaders following Prime Minister Mark Carney's April election win. Carney has taken a more conciliatory approach to the Trump administration, privately courting Trump in his attempts to secure a trade truce even as he has publicly pushed back on the White House's aggressive stance toward Canada. The poll was conducted by telephone from May 20-June 30, 2025 with a random sample of approximately 1,014 Canadian adults. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.

Canadian News Publishers Sound the Alarm on Google (GOOGL) AI Summaries

News publishers across Canada are raising concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) summaries produced by the Google (GOOGL) search engine. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. Specifically, newspapers and broadcast media outlets say the AI-generated summaries that top many Google search results are cutting into their online traffic and further eroding their struggling businesses. Some publishers in Canada are claiming that the AI summaries produced by Google are inaccurate. When Google rolled out its AI Overview feature in 2024, its mistakes made headlines around the world. However, many of those inaccuracies have since been corrected and analysts who cover Alphabet, the parent company of Google, seem to agree that the AI-generated search summaries are now reliable. At the bottom of its AI summaries, Google warns users that 'AI responses may include mistakes.' Media Landscape Still, that hasn't stopped news publishers in Canada from levying criticism at AI as it erodes the traditional news business. Paul Deegan, CEO of News Media Canada, which represents Canadian news publishers, says AI summaries are a drag on media companies' online engagement. 'Zero clicks is zero revenue for the publisher,' said Deegan in a recent interview with The Canadian Press newswire. Canada's federal government passed the 'Online News Act' in 2023 to require U.S. technology giants such as Meta Platforms (META) Google started making payments under the legislation. However, the future of that legislation seems uncertain as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said that he is open to repealing it. Is GOOGL Stock a Buy? The stock of Alphabet has a consensus Strong Buy rating among 36 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on 27 Buy and nine Hold recommendations issued in the last three months. The average GOOGL price target of $217.25 implies 6.88% upside from current levels.
