#TECH: Exploring emotion and colours through photography
THE Expression of Colour Emotion (EEW2025) exhibition is more than a visual feast, currently on-going from July 21 to Aug 28 at the Shah Alam Gallery, is an immersive exploration of colours in photography. Showcasing 106 works by members of the Federal Territory Photography Art Movement (ASFON WP) and the UiTM/ITM Alumni Photography Association (Fokus), alongside selected works from educators, invited artists, and Sony Malaysia, the exhibition is a vibrant testament to the emotional power of visual storytelling. "Each image on display, whether a quiet monochromatic study, a saturated burst of hues, or a delicate play of light, carries an intimacy that invites viewers to slow down and feel," said ASFON WP president, Nazri Sulaiman. "Colour is not just a technical element in photography," he said. "It is a living language that conveys mood, memory, and meaning, often beyond what words can express." Beyond the aesthetic experience, EEW2025 carries an urgent appeal, the establishment of a dedicated National Photography Gallery in Malaysia. Such a space, the organisers believe, is crucial to preserve the nation's photographic history, foster innovation, and create opportunities for local photographers to present their work to wider audiences. "Photography in Malaysia deserves a permanent, dedicated space where its history and future can coexist," said EEW2025 project director Shamsul Kamal Zakaria. "EEW2025 is not just an exhibition, but a statement on the importance of recognising photography as both art and cultural heritage," he said during the exhibition launch recently. "The exhibition shows the technical skill, cultural awareness, and emotional depth of Malaysian photographers. The diversity of genres, from documentary and portraiture to abstract and conceptual, reflects the richness of the country's visual narratives," he said. "Visitors are encouraged not merely to view the photographs, but to experience them, to notice how a deep blue might evoke stillness, how a burst of gold might summon nostalgia, or how the interplay of shadow and crimson might suggest longing," he added. The exhibition was officiated by National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac.

(Video) Charmaine Sheh Talks About Malaysia, Local Food Picks & Love For Work
For years, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) has remained one of Malaysians' favourite Hong Kong actresses. Recently, the star made an appearance in Kuala Lumpur, meeting fans at an event in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. While in town, she did an interview where she discussed Malaysia, her fans and her work life. Earlier this week, media outlet Malaysia Jor shared their interview with Charmaine. In the video, the actress spoke with host Hilda HoWun (可媛) about various topics, including her feelings towards Malaysia and the locals. Having visited many times for work, the actress said she finds the locals very kind and well-mannered. She also noticed that most Malaysians would politely approach her when meeting in public. Charmaine also mentioned that many of her Malaysian fans would prepare gifts for her when she's in town, highlighting their hospitality. She also talked about the birthday project that her Malaysian fan club had held for her back in May, where they displayed birthday videos on several digital billboards around the Klang Valley. Charmaine said she had seen the project and thanked the fans who participated. A known foodie, Charmaine also discussed her favourite Malaysian food. She mentioned that she prefers noodle dishes, such as fish head noodles. However, when visiting Malaysia, the actress also always indulges in durian. Hilda then suggested that she try the new variety of durian called Tupai King. Given her love for the fruit, the actress immediately expressed interest in trying. Hilda also tried asking Charmaine about her love life, wondering if she's dating anyone. To the host's surprise, the actress said she's always dating. However, she then explained that she's 'dating' her work, noting that she loves acting so much that she's committed to her career. She said with every drama she works on, she devotes herself to learning about her character and loving the role, arguing that the process is very romantic. Given her dedication to her work and her fans, it's no surprise that Charmaine Sheh is still one of Hong Kong's top actresses. Check out her full interview below: Source: YouTube

Influencer regrets 'immature behaviour' in viral anthem video, Dr Akmal condemns act
Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh demands punitive action against the celebrity for disrespecting the national anthem. Choo apologised for filming friends during the national anthem, while Dr Akmal demanded severe action. Photo: Facebook and edited Via Canva SHAH ALAM – Malaysian singer and YouTuber Choo Haoren has apologised for playfully filming his friends during the national anthem at a public event. However, Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh has called for severe action, labelling those involved as "traitors and fools." In the clip, Choo was seen playfully filming his Steady Gang members, Ahya and Tomato. Photo: Facebook and edited Via Canva Choo issued a public apology after a video of him recording his friends during the national anthem, 'Negaraku,' at the 8TV Cuckoo Starfluencer Awards 2025 went viral, drawing widespread criticism. In the clip, Choo was seen playfully filming his Steady Gang members, Ahya and Tomato. At one point, he paused to ask a teammate to sing along. Many viewers condemned the act as disrespectful to the anthem. Addressing the backlash in a statement posted on Aug 10, Choo admitted his behaviour was wrong. He acknowledged that the act was inappropriate for the occasion and that he should have sung the anthem with solemnity. 'I deeply regret the discomfort that my immature behavior caused the public. I know the national anthem is not only a symbol of the country but also carries solemn historical significance and evokes emotional identification among all citizens. 'I promise that I will behave better and appropriately in all formal and public occasions in the future. I sincerely thank the public for their warning and understanding. 'Once again, I offer my sincerest apologies to all my friends who care about me for the inconvenience this incident has caused,' he said. Umno Youth Chief calls for tougher action The apology, however, has not quelled calls for action. Dr Akmal condemned the behaviour and urged for harsher penalties. 'Before this, the Malaysian flag was flown upside down. Now, the national anthem 'Negaraku' is being mocked! They did it first, then only apologised afterwards!' he wrote on social media. Dr Akmal stressed that the matter was not about race or political affiliation, but about respecting the country. 'We are calling for harsh punishment for traitors like this! And to those foolish enough to defend such actions, go ahead, defend this one too! "Let us see what excuse you will come up with. Maybe you will say this person has no brain, just like you!' He further urged that all those involved be punished regardless of their race or any political party backing them.
