Simba offering 'great night's sleep' and £836 in 'freebies' if you do one thing

Daily Record23-04-2025

One key way to improve your health and well being is to get a quality night's sleep, but this can be easily hindered if your mattress isn't providing the comfort and support you are needing. While it can be expensive to splurge on a new mattress, this is an investment that will be used for years to come. And if you need a little bit more persuasion, sleep tech brand Simba is offering a bunch of free items - worth up to £836 - when you purchase one of their "luxury" mattresses. This can include pillows, a premium duvet and a mattress protector. However, the amount of 'freebies' you are entitled to can vary depending on the mattress you purchase. For example, if you buy the double, king or super king Simba Hybrid Mattress , shoppers will get two free memory foam pillows (worth £218) and a mattress protector worth up to £169 - meaning you are getting £387 worth of items for free. For those looking for something of a higher spec, you will earn all of the premium freebies when you purchase the Simba Luxe Mattress , with prices starting at £1,199. For a double, king or super king Luxe mattress, you will receive a Hybrid 3-in-1 duvet, a mattress protector and two pillows (one for a single) worth up to a whopping £836. If you aren't familiar with Simba Mattresses , Simba Sleep is an award-winning sleep tech company which has used expert sleep engineers to help create mattresses that are designed to suit every sleep style and body type. One of their most popular products is the Hybrid Mattress, which has over 100,000 five-star reviews. The mattress consists of a "supportive" five-layer design that combines springs with memory foam to provide extra comfort during the night. The Hybrid Mattress currently has a 4.8 star rating from satisfied customers, with many being impressed by the comfort that this mattress provides. One happy shopper wrote: "After spending a few weeks sleeping on the Simba Hybrid mattress, I can confidently say it lives up to much of the hype. It's a great blend of support and comfort, and the materials feel premium from the moment you lie down." Another added: "The mattress arrived on time with an easy delivery. It is super comfortable and folded out well. I was a bit worried when it was all crushed up in the box, but it is firm and doesn't have any dips in it. Also, the duvet and pillows are great so far and stay plump." A third five-star reviewer went on: "I love this mattress. We bought it for our first home, and it gave us a great night's sleep. Firmness is perfect for us. No sore backs. No more tossing and turning. Comfort level is 10/10." A fourth shopper dubbed it "very comfy" before adding: "Me and my partner have been having a great night's sleep on our Simba. It's really comfy and we're able to move in the night without waking each other up!" However, not everyone was as amazed with the mattress, with one shopper writing: "It wasn't comfortable for me. No quibble return was provided, though, with mattress collection provided." While another customer is "still unsure" about the product, writing: "Not 100 percent sure yet, I do keep waking up with back pain. I'm hoping my body needs to adjust. For the price I wasn't expecting to wake up every morning with a bad back, time will tell." If you want to snap up over £800 worth of bedding freebies, you can click HERE to explore the Simba Sleep Mattress range. You will need to be quick though as the sale ends on May 5. However, if you want to shop around before you make your final decision, there are plenty of top-quality mattresses on the market that are designed with the aim to improve your sleep. For example, Tempur uses NASA-technology so their mattresses can mould to your unique shape to relieve pressure. Another excellent option is Emma Sleep, which boasts their award-winning Hybrid Premium Mattress, with pricing starting at £289. It features three layers of advanced foam that are each designed to increase breathability, evenly distribute weight and minimise movement to offer you a quality night's sleep.

Major Winter fuel payment U-turn as millions to get up to £300

More than three-quarters of pensioners will receive winter fuel payments this year as Rachel Reeves unveils crucial details of the Government's U-turn. OAPs with an income of £35,000 or below in England and Wales will receive the benefit this winter. It is a major uplift from the current £11,500 cut-off point. It means nine million pensioners will now be eligible for the winter support. Around two million pensioners whose income is above £35,000 will have the payment automatically recovered or can opt out from receiving it. Keir Starmer last month announced he wanted more pensioners to be eligible for the help, which is worth up to £300. The PM faced a damaging backlash after last year introducing a means-tested system for the winter fuel allowance, which had previously been a universal benefit. Around 10 million pensioners lost the support last winter. The changes announced today will cost around £1.25billion. The Treasury said the new means-testing system is expected to save around £450million, compared to the universal system. No pensioner will need to take any action as they will automatically receive the payment this winter. Payments of £200 per household, or £300 per household where there is someone over 80, will be made. OAPS with incomes above the £35,000 threshold will have the full amount of the winter fuel payment they received automatically collected via PAYE, or via their Self-Assessment return. Pensioners who want to opt out and not receive the payment at all will be able to do so. DWP is developing a simple system to enable OAPs to opt out if they wish. Ms Reeves, the Chancellor, said: 'Targeting Winter Fuel Payments was a tough decision, but the right decision because of the inheritance we had been left by the previous government. It is also right that we continue to means-test this payment so that it is targeted and fair, rather than restoring eligibility to everyone including the wealthiest. 'But we have now acted to expand the eligibility of the Winter Fuel Payment so no pensioner on a lower income will miss out. This will mean over three quarters of pensioners receiving the payment in England and Wales later this winter.' Follow our Mirror Politics account on Bluesky here. At PMQs last month, the PM said with the economy showing signs of improvement he wants to ensure "more pensioners are eligible for winter fuel payments". The surprise announcement came amid mounting pressure to roll-back the decision to strip the payment from all but the very poorest pensioners - those who receive Pension Credit. Tensions have been rising in Labour ranks after Reform UK made sweeping gains in the English local elections in May and also won a by-election in the Labour stronghold of Runcorn and Helsby by six votes. At the time, Ros Jones, who held on as Doncaster mayor by a majority of less than 700, said the Government needs to listen to the public as she hit out over winter fuel and benefit cuts. In a furious message after her narrow victory at the mayoral elections, she said the winter fuel cuts were "wrong".

It is super comfortable and folded out well. I was a bit worried when it was all crushed up in the box, but it is firm and has no dips. Also, the duvet and pillows are great so far and stay plump." However, not everyone is thrilled with their purchase. A disgruntled buyer expressed dissatisfaction: "It wasn't comfortable for me. No quibble return was provided, though, with mattress collection provided." Yet another enthusiast shared their devotion to the Simba Hybrid Mattress: "I love this mattress. We bought it for our first home, and it gave us a great night's sleep. Firmness is perfect for us - no sore backs. No more tossing and turning. Comfort level is 10/10." Investing in a mattress can be a big decision, but it could be the best thing you can do for your sleep health this year. You can browse the entire Simba collection here; the sale ends on June 19.

Luxurious bedding branded 'utterly gorgeous' by thrilled shopper

The Dunelm bedding set has a near-perfect rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars Dunelm shoppers have been full of praise for an 'utterly gorgeous" duvet set that brings a touch of luxury to bedrooms. The Arabella Blue Floral Luxury Velvet Duvet Cover & Pillowcase Set also has a discount running at the moment, shaving 20% off the price tag. Usually costing between £36 and £52, depending on the size you require, it's now down to £28.80 for a single, £33.60 for a double, £38.40 for a king-size and £41.60 for a super king. Dunelm says that the 'super soft velour' gives a 'luxury feel', while the floral print 'is a work of art, bursting with intricate details and vibrant colours'. It does come with pillowcases too, which is handy given many duvets and pillowcases have started being sold separately. Elsewhere, Debenhams is another retailer worth looking at. Among the deals the retailer has currently is the very colourful House of Norris Luxurious Signature Teal 100% Cotton Duvet Cover Set. That's usually priced at £120 to £160, depending on the size you need, but a discount is taking the price down to £42 for a double and £51 for a super king. At the cheaper end of the spectrum, the Habitat Cotton Painterly Leaf Green Bedding Set is stocked by Argos, ranging from £20 to £28. The design on that features strong painterly lines that emerge from an olive green base creating a lush foliage scene. Much of the praise left to date for the Dunelm floral set has been extremely enthusiastic, with the bedding averaging a rating of 4.9 stars out of 5. Speaking of the Dunelm set, one reviewer said: 'Absolutely stunning bedding set. Beautiful colours and so soft. If they did this in other colours, I would definitely be buying them!' Another continued: 'This is my 2nd set of luxury velour bedding from Dunelm and I am absolutely chuffed to bits with it. I'm actually obsessed. "It's such a beautiful quality, the colours are to die for, and it's so soft I can't stop stroking it. I actually think my sleep is better because of it. Utterly gorgeous 11/10 from me.' While a third went on: 'Just beautiful! Amazing quality and super soft. Stunning vibrant colours. Very happy customer.' All of the reviews left to date have been five stars, apart from one which gave four. That shopper highlighted a possible drawback, saying: 'Looks just like the picture. Gorgeous colour and the velvet top feels wonderful and soft. "However, the side that's actually touching you isn't velvet like I expected. But it is still soft and nice so I'm not too disappointed, plus my head gets to lie on velvet pillows.'
