Oilers making lineup changes for Game 4 of Cup Final vs Panthers. Who's in? Who's out?

Miami Herald12-06-2025
The Edmonton Oilers are making several changes ahead of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
It starts with two players being replaced in the lineup — forward Jeff Skinner drawing in for Viktor Arvidsson, defenseman Troy Stecher for John Klingberg.
It continues with a slew of movement with the lineup itself.
Based on the team's morning skate, Connor Brown is slated to be the right wing on Edmonton's top line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins at left wing and Connor McDavid at right wing.
Skinner will be the left winger on the Oilers' third line with Adam Henrique at center and Trent Frederic at right wing. Thursday will be Skinner's third game of the playoffs, getting one game apiece in the first round against the Los Angeles Kings and in the Western Conference final against the Dallas Stars. He has one goal and one assist in those games.
And then Corey Perry drops from the top line to fourth line right wing with left winger Vasily Podkolzin and center Mattias Janmark.
As for the defense pairs, Brett Kulak will be with Evan Bouchard, Darnell Nurse with Stecher and Mattias Ekholm with Jake Walman. Stecher has played in six games this postseason, two in the second round against the Vegas Golden Knights and four against Dallas.
Goaltender Stuart Skinner, who was benched in the third period of Game 3 on Monday, will be back in net for Game 4.
The Panthers, meanwhile, are expected to roll out the same lineup as Game 3. That should look as follows...
Forward lines
Carter Verhaeghe-Aleksander Barkov-Sam Reinhart
Evan Rodrigues-Sam Bennett-Matthew Tkachuk
Eetu Luostarinen-Anton Lundell-Brad Marchand
A.J. Greer-Tomas Nosek-Jonah Gadjovich
Defense pairs
Gustav Forsling-Aaron Ekblad
Niko Mikkola-Seth Jones
Nate Schmidt-Dmitry Kulikov
Goaltender
Sergei Bobrovsky
The Panthers lead the best-of-7 series 2-1.

Oilers Have A New Goalie Trade Target

EDMONTON – Goaltending is one of the hardest positions to play in all of sports, let alone hockey. As Edmonton Oilers fans know, goalies (typically) get minimal praise when things are going right, and all of the criticism when things go south. That's a significant reason why mental toughness is as important as skill when it comes to the goalie position. Bookmark The Hockey News Edmonton Oilers team site to never miss the latest news, game-day coverage, and more. Stuart Skinner is a very even-keeled person. He has done significant work to allow himself to handle the mental rigors of the position. But, he can't single-handedly propel the Oilers to a Stanley Cup. Skinner has to work in tandem with someone, and now, there is a new potential goalie for the Oilers to target in a trade. Trending Oilers Stories McDavid v. the Decade of Darkness: Part 3: The Gretzky Trade Author's Note: Former Oilers Big-Ticket UFA Signs PTO With Blues Oilers' Stuart Skinner Had New Approach To Summer Oilers Fans Should Love New McDavid Update Oilers New Addition Makes Depth Forward Expendable RUMOR: Oilers Targeting Another Speedy Forward Prospect? - Community Post The Edmonton Oilers are rumored to be having discussions with the Boston Bruins. But a new rumor explains that they haven't been discussing Michael DiPietro (or any of their other goalies) but a forward prospect. The NHL and NHLPA have cleared Connor Ingram to return to the NHL. He entered into the NHLPA Players' Assistance program in March after his mother's death in December. His return gives the Utah Mammoth three NHL goalies under contract for the 2025-26 season. Karel Vejmelka is entering the first year of a five-year extension, while Vitek Vanecek signed a one-year deal this summer after winning a Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers. This might make Ingram available. If he is, the Oilers should check the acquisition cost. 4 Oilers Goalie Targets Better Than Carter Hart EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers' need for goaltending help is one of the worst-kept secrets in hockey. Ingram had a down year last season, recording nine wins, a 3.27 goals against average (GAA), and an .882 save percentage (SV%) in 22 games. This down season would lower the price tag on trading for him. The two previous seasons, he posted some good numbers. In 2023-24 he had a record of 23-21-3, a 2.91 GAA, a .907 SV%, and six shutouts in 50 games. The year before that, he had a 6-13-8 record, 3.37 GAA, a .907 SV%, and one shutout. Ingram is in the final year of a contract paying him $1.95 million. As the team of second chances, this is one second chance the Oilers have to give. And even though we won't be seeing either team's starting units hit the field at Bank of America Stadium, there will be more than enough to tune in for. Could the newly-signed (and reigning United Football League Most Valuable Player) Bryce Perkins pass his way onto the Panthers' roster? Can a few unlikely summer standouts, including wide receiver Brycen Tremayne and cornerback Corey Thornton, finish their runs into Carolina's plans? Will the kicking competition crown a winner between veteran journeyman Matthew Wright and undrafted rookie Ryan Fitzgerald? Well, we might get a good hint on all of those questions tonight.
