Liverpool commission permanent Diogo Jota tribute at Anfield
And the Reds players were wear a specially-designed patch with 'Diogo J 20' stitched on in honour of their team-mate across the two games in the Far East, starting with AC Milan at the Kai Tak Stadium on Saturday evening (12.30pm UK time). A floral tribute will also be laid before kick-off at the pre-season games in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Anfield.
Jota and his younger brother, Andre Silva, were involved in a fatal car crash in north-west Spain earlier this month as the Portugal international attempted to make his way back to Merseyside for the start of pre-season training.

The club have since retired the popular Portuguese's No.20 squad number across all levels and have now announced a number of further tributes for a player who joined from Wolves in September 2020.
Floral tributes that were left outside Anfield following the passing of the striker will now be composted and used in flower beds across all club sites, including Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and AXA Melwood Training Centre.
The remaining artefacts are set to be recycled by a specialist company and used to help create a permanent memorial for Jota, that will become a future focal point of remembrance at Anfield. The design itself remains the subject of dialogue.
In the meantime, a temporary area of reflection has been created outside the ground itself so people can continue to pay their respects.
Any supporters paying to have Jota's name on their shirts will see their payment donated to the LFC Foundation and when the club's new Adidas kits are launched on August 1, Reds players will display their own tribute with a specially made 'Forever 20' emblem printed into their shirts and stadium jackets, which will remain in place for the season.
The LFC Foundation has also committed to creating a grassroots football programme in Diogo's name, while a special fan mosaic and a minute of silence is being planned for the first game of the Premier League season, against Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday August 15.

Report of massive Jashari breakthrough for Milan with Club Brugge
There are reports in Belgium and Italy that Milan have finally agreed a deal with Club Brugge for Ardon Jashari for €33.5m plus €4.5m in add-ons. According to transfer experts Sacha Tavolieri and Daniele Longo, the two clubs talked again this afternoon and reached a significant breakthrough. BERGAMO, ITALY – FEBRUARY 18: Ardon Jashari of Club Brugge KV celebrates victory following the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Knockout Play-off second leg match between Atalanta BC and Club Brugge KV at Gewiss Stadium on February 18, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) Part of that was, in the view of MilanNews, a change in the payment terms that ensured Club Brugge would get their cash quicker than previously anticipated. It is therefore possible they agreed to reformulate the offer to a larger part in fixed fee and smaller figure set aside for bonuses. put those figures at €33.5m fixed fee and €4.5m add-ons, so the total remains €38m. (Photo by) The matter has been dragging on for weeks and the player intervened personally to beg for them to shake hands on this move. It comes after an offer worth €38m including add-ons was rejected, much to the anger of the midfielder and his entourage, who felt this was more than adequate. The Switzerland international turned 23 last week and promised to snub other offers from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea and the Saudi Pro League. He had his heart set on Milan, having become a supporter during a childhood visit to San Siro for a Champions League fixture.

Ben Doak shines as 3 players impress Arne Slot in game No. 1 vs. Athletic Bilbao
Liverpool beat Athletic Bilbao 4-1 in the first of two back-to-back friendlies on Monday at Anfield. It was a slick attacking performance from the Reds who, despite a few defensive hiccups, were in control for long spells. Two goals, scored via Rio Ngumoha and Darwin Nunez, within five minutes got the game off to a perfect start, after the pre-match tributes to Diogo Jota. Ben Doak grabbed a third before the break to underline the Reds' dominance, although that dropped a little after the half-time break. Harvey Elliott did get his name on the scoresheet too, before Gorka Guruzeta scored a consolation for the visitors following several changes from Arne Slot. Here's who stood out for Liverpool in game no.1 of the double header. READ MORE: What happened ahead of Liverpool vs. Athletic Bilbao game as fans evacuated from Anfield READ MORE: Liverpool player ratings, winners and losers vs Athletic Club as Rio Ngumoha and 2 more excellent Ben Doak If Slot is still trying to decide whether Doak has a role to play this season, Monday's game will have only signified how talented the young Scot is. He was a constant menace down Liverpool's right, linking well with Harvey Elliott. In fact, the pair combined for Nunez's opener, when Doak's cross was nodded down by Ngumoha, before Liverpool's no.9 flicked it past Alez Padilla in the away goal. Doak, who showed a good turn of pace throughout and produced several penetrative runs in behind, grabbed the third of the game when he drove down the line and fired at goal. Admittedly, it was a moment Padilla won't want to see back as he flapped unsuccessfully at the ball. Minutes before, the Liverpool teenager had forced the goalkeeper into a smart save at his near post; the Bilbao defence were pleased with a break at half-time. They were also sparred another battering after the break with Doak withdrawn after 55 minutes on an enjoyable return to Anfield. Rio Ngumoha The summer of 2025 could well be remembered as the breakthrough period of Ngumoha's Liverpool career. He may just be 16, but it's difficult to see a way in which Slot doesn't include him in his first-team plans this season. After wowing on tour, the ex-Chelsea youngster brought the same energy to Monday's fixture. He was energetic, showed breath-takingly quick feet, and also has an ability to provide decisive moments. He proved that within two minutes when he fired a curling shot into the net with his right foot after a dazzling Liverpool breakaway. His flick set up Nunez's goal soon after and he bamboozled right-back Andoni Gorosabel repeatedly in the first half. That waned slightly as the game continued, although a jink inside drew an excited collective intake of breath from the Anfield crowd at the start of the second period. Ngumoha was replaced after 67 minutes on his second Anfield senior appearance. One suspects the third isn't far away. Curtis Jones In a game that at times lacked intensity, Jones footwork stood out at Anfield. It's no surprise that the pace wasn't full pelt at this stage of the summer, and Liverpool enjoyed long spells of possession. Jones' ability to move the ball forward with speed and technical control were noticeable and on several occasions he even forced Alejandro Rego Mora into a cynical foul after he cut down Liverpool's no.17. Jones also played a role in the build up to Elliott's late goal and he dropped deeper after Alexis Mac Allister made way in the second half to help Liverpool retain possession. Any one else? This was an impressive team performance and a few others stood. Trey Nyoni made some important interceptions at center-back and look confident in possession. Kostas Tsimikas made few errors at left-back, while Nunez looked sharp and linked well with team-mates on potentially his last Liverpool performance at Anfield.

Incoming Real Sociedad signing to undergo medical today
La Liga outfit Real Sociedad are on the verge of closing a completed deal for a fresh addition to the club's defensive ranks. That's according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Duje Ćaleta-Car as the player in question. It has long been common knowledge across Spain that the board at Real Sociedad are on the lookout for fresh blood at centre-back this summer. A whole host of stoppers from across the continent, in turn, have over the last couple of months been tipped as potential arrivals at the club. Recent days, though, have seen one name stand out above all others: that of Ćaleta-Car. And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then the Croatian international's arrival at Anoeta now appears to be all but imminent. As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano: 'Duje Caleta-Car will undergo medical at Real Sociedad today, joining on loan with €3m buy option from Olympique Lyonnais.' Conor Laird – GSFN
