Wordle hints today for #1,479: Clues and answer for Monday, July 7

Yahoo13 hours ago
Hey, there! Welcome to the start of a new week. We hope you're well-rested and energized. Whenever you need some downtime today, though, there's a new round of Wordle to keep you company. In case you could use some help with it, here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Monday's puzzle (#1,479).
It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too.
Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. There is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone.
Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats.
The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily.
To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses.
You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once.
Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets and Discord. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak.
If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions.
In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game.

In case you still haven't quite figured it out by that point, we'll then provide the first letter of the word. Those who are still stumped after that can continue on to find out the answer for today's Wordle.
This should go without saying, but make sure to scroll slowly. Spoilers are ahead.
Here is a hint for today's Wordle answer:
A walking stick that might make you appear much taller than usual.
There is a pair of repeated letters in today's Wordle answer.
The first letter of today's Wordle answer is S.
This is your final warning before we reveal today's Wordle answer. No take-backs.
Don't blame us if you happen to scroll too far and accidentally spoil the game for yourself.
What is today's Wordle? Today's Wordle answer is...
STILT
Not to worry if you didn't figure out today's Wordle word. If you made it this far down the page, hopefully you at least kept your streak going. And, hey: there's always another game tomorrow.

Morgan Wallen Dominates Country Radio Like Few Before Him

Morgan Wallen dominates Billboard's Country Airplay chart this week with five tracks, including two ... More top 10 hits and a debut with 'I Got Better.' NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - NOVEMBER 09: Morgan Wallen attends the 56th Annual CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena on November 09, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by Taylor Hill/FilmMagic) Billboard's Country Airplay chart is perhaps the most competitive of all the company's radio rankings, and certainly one of the busiest. Radio still makes a huge impact in the country space, and competition for the highest reaches is fierce between singer-songwriters. It's not common for any act to fill more than one or two spaces at a time, and a trio of wins at once is a surefire sign that a musician has become a superstar in the country world. Morgan Wallen has advanced beyond that title, and he manages a truly incredible feat this week. Morgan Wallen's Five Country Radio Smashes Wallen fills five spaces on the Country Airplay chart at the moment. He ups his count significantly from last time around, as 'I Got Better' debuts at No. 40, while 'What I Want,' his collaboration with Tate McRae, reenters the ranking. That tune, which has already conquered both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts, breaks back in at No. 60 – in last place – after once rising to No. 55. Multiple Top 10 Hits Also included in Wallen's roundup of smashes are a pair of top 10 hits: 'Just in Case' and 'I'm the Problem.' One of several singles and the title track from his recently-released blockbuster album sits at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, side-by-side. Morgan Wallen and Post Malone's Second Duet One of Wallen's two collaborations with Post Malone, 'I Ain't Comin' Back,' dips slightly 10 weeks into its tenure on the tally. Last time around, 'I Ain't Comin' Back' sat at No. 30, its all-time high point. This frame, it slips to No. 35. Jelly Roll Follows Next Jelly Roll claims the second-most hits on the Country Airplay chart at the moment, with three. 'Heart of Stone,' 'Hard Fought Hallelujah' with Brandon Lake, and 'Amen' with Shaboozey all manage to appear. Shaboozey, Parker McCollum, and Chris Young score a pair of wins each, while every other artist on the 60-spot roster manages only to live in one slot. Wallen's success on the Country Airplay tally is impressive, but he claims significantly more spaces on tallies like the Hot 100 and various country-only rankings.

Lonely Island Mounts A Surprise Comeback On The Charts

The Lonely Island's Turtleneck & Chain and Incredibad return to Billboard's Comedy Albums chart, ... More landing back-to-back at Nos. 9 and 10. BURBANK, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 09: (L-R) Actors Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island perform onstage during the 2016 MTV Movie Awards at Warner Bros. Studios on April 9, 2016 in Burbank, California. MTV Movie Awards airs April 10, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/WireImage for MTV) The Lonely Island was never supposed to become a bona fide music success story. The comedy trio first found an audience on Saturday Night Live, where the group's digital shorts turned sketch comedy into a viral phenomenon. What started as a series of quick-hit parodies soon evolved into a surprisingly fruitful musical career, complete with hit singles, bestselling albums, and even a big-screen soundtrack. This week, two of The Lonely Island's most popular projects reappear on Billboard's Comedy Albums chart — and they manage to do so at the same time, sitting right next to each other. Two Albums Return Side-by-Side On the latest edition of the Comedy Albums list, Turtleneck & Chain reenters at No. 9. Just behind it, Incredibad comes back at No. 10. It's not every week that an act sends a pair of different collections back to that ranking – or any Billboard roster – simultaneously, let alone in adjacent spots. Hundreds of Weeks on the Chart Turtleneck & Chain has now spent 226 weeks on the chart throughout its lifetime. Incredibad is more than a year behind, as it has thus far racked up 156 weeks on the tally. A Streak of Chart-Topping Success The Lonely Island has released three proper studio albums over the years — Incredibad, Turtleneck & Chain, and The Wack Album. All three climbed to No. 1 on the Comedy Albums chart. Beyond those core releases, the trio also issued a soundtrack for the feature film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, as well as a similar effort in The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience. Both of those titles also spent time at No. 1 on the Comedy Albums chart. The Only Act with Several Current Hits The Lonely Island is the only name on the Comedy Albums chart this week that manages to appear more than once. Last frame, that honor belonged to Monty Python, though at the moment, only Monty Python and the Holy Grail: The Album of the Soundtrack of the Trailer of the Film of Monty Python and the Holy Grail – yes, that's the full name – still lives on. At the moment, that set climbs a single spot to No. 6.

Bridesmaid Skips Water Park Bachelorette Party 'Because I'm Overweight': 'I'm By Far the Biggest'

A bridesmaid is wondering if she's justified in skipping an upcoming bachelorette party at a water park She says she's "overweight" and would exceed the weight limit on most of the slides, which "makes me uncomfortable" While many commenters understood her feelings, they said the trip was not about her, but the brideA bridesmaid said she's considering skipping her friend's bachelorette party — an overnight trip to a water park resort — because she's concerned she's too heavy to ride most of the slides. "The idea of standing in my bathing suit, being weighed to make sure I can go, makes me uncomfortable.' A 25-year-old woman shared a post on Reddit's AITA forum — where commenters share real-world scenarios and wonder if they would be the 'a------' — that her close friend, who'd asked her to be a bridesmaid, wanted to do overnight at a water park for her bachelorette party. But as the poster, Cmon_LetsGo wrote, 'I knew the trip wouldn't be fun for me due to my size. I am about 5'7' and 270 pounds, and the maximum weight for a single rider on the majority of slides is 250.' As she explained, 'I know I'm overweight and need to lose some, but insecurity isn't the main thing holding me back.' While she said she'd 'happily go on a beach vacation and rock a bathing suit the whole time,' the problem for her is 'the combination of the bathing suit, weigh-ins, and fact that I am too big to participate in many of the rides that makes it seem not fun to me.' She shared that 'there are a few heavier girls in the party, but I'm by far the biggest and I think the only one who exceeds 250 pounds.' But when she told the bride she didn't want to come, her friend 'got very upset, saying that she asked us to reserve the weekend months in advance and that she worked hard to keep costs down.' When the bridesmaid tried to explain further, '[the bride] said that I could float in the lazy river/hot tub or swim in a standard pool or drink at the bar while the other girls rode slides and that I shouldn't let my weight hold me back, especially from something so important to her. I still feel like it would be uncomfortable and a waste of money for me, as I wouldn't truly be able to have the same experience.' She continued, 'I couldn't do the same things as all the other girls, I think it would leave me feeling bad all weekend instead of upbeat and excited for the bride.' The reaction to her post was mixed. The top comment, with more than 2,000 upvotes, said that while she wouldn't be in the wrong for skipping, 'maybe it's not that much time? It's hard to believe they're [gonna] slide for hours and 2 days long. If i'm there with friends, it's a bit slides, not always everybody, and just more like swimming, playing, talking and bar. Plus in the evening, there are no slides. Just the group having food, drinks and fun.' As another pointed out, 'I am as fat as OP but an introvert. Any excuse to get little alone time from 11 drunken people would be a blast for me …you might regret not going and it might have an impact on your friendship, I would just go.' Another commenter was more blunt, telling the poster that they're in the wrong: 'She's right, there are plenty of things you could do and would avoid awkward weigh ins … Tell everyone you're afraid of slides, to avoid the embarrassment, then go and be there for your friend. Water park is only half of the celebration- there will be dinner, games, hanging out, etc. unless you're going to have a full on panic attack and ruin the event for the whole group, you should go for your friend.' While another Redditor acknowledged, 'This is a tough one. They've picked something pretty weird to do for a low-key bachelorette party, but they don't know how much you weigh ... I think you're missing the point of a bachelorette.' As another summed up: 'You being overweight and not able to do some slides sucks but… it's not about you.'
