Swansea City seal ninth summer signing as international signs on permanent transfer The New Zealand international says he has already fallen in love with how the Swans play Marko Stamenic is unveiled as a Swansea City player (Image: Swansea City) Swansea City have completed a permanent move for midfielder Marko Stamenic. The New Zealand international has signed a deal with the Swans having joined from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee, and becomes the ninth arrival of a hugely busy summer window. Stamenic only joined Forest last year and leaves without making a single competitive appearance for the Reds. Before the City Ground, Stamenic was on the books at Serbian side Red Star Belgrade, and spent last season out on loan at Greek giants Olympiacos. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here. He made 23 appearances for the club in the Greek top flight last term, and there had previously been a suggestion the 23-year-old might return to the club for another loan spell this term. However, Swansea have now swooped in. Article continues below Stamenic, who was at the win over Sheffield United last weekend, said: 'I love watching football, so the chance to watch any football game is a good one for me. 'But to see the way the team played, the philosophy that the team play with is a different type of football that you love to see. 'I am really happy, it was a big win and a good one for the club as a whole. 'We've been talking about this move for some time now, and I've been told about the plans and the project and I fell in love with it from that first meeting. 'I am just over the moon that the deal is done.' A New Zealand international, Stamenic has won 31 caps for his country, netting three goals. He started his career at Western Suburbs before later going on to sign for Team Wellington. FC Copenhagen brought him to Europe in 2020, although he was soon loaned out to fellow Danish side HB Koge in Denmark, before heading to Serbian side Red Star in 2023. Primarily a holding midfielder, he will give Swans boss Alan Sheehan further options in the middle of the park. Sheehan said: 'Marko is an excellent player, one who has been on our radar for some time, and he will bring us different attributes in our midfield with his physicality and athleticism. 'He was clear in his desire to be part of what we are building at Swansea City, and we believe his character will make him a really good fit for this group. 'We want to be an adaptable team that is on the front foot with and without the ball at all times, and Marko will help us to do that.' Director of football Richard Montague, added: 'Marko provides us with a different profile in terms of our midfield options, and his physicality and ability on the ball mean we believe he has the attributes to be highly effective in the Championship. 'His arrival strengthens an already robust midfield unit, and will allow us to play with the relentless energy and adaptability that we want to be hallmarks of our team.' Global head of analytics and recruitment Adam Worth added: 'As a recruitment team we'd identified adding a level of physicality and technical ability to our midfield as an area of need, and Marko is an exciting addition. 'Alan has spoken of the need to be tactically adaptable, and we believe adding Marko to the options we already have at our disposal will only add to our flexibility and versatility in the middle of the pitch.' Ethan Galbraith and Malick Yalcouye have already come on board to bolster his hand hand, while Melker Widell is also in the frame for the first time after being immediately loaned out following his January arrival from AaB. Other arrivals this summer include defensive trio Cameron Burgess, Ricardo Santos and Kaelan Casey, goalkeeper Paul Farman, winger Zeidane Inoussa, and forward Bobby Wales. Kai Havertz injury blow forces Arsenal into transfer rethink
Arsenal have suffered a bitter blow with Kai Havertz having picked up a knee injury, causing a rethink of their remaining transfer plans this summer. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Havertz is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering the issue and is now undergoing assessments to determine the extent of the injury. Given these are still at an early stage, the prognosis and how long he will be out for is still unclear. The 26-year-old German missed an opening training session at the Emirates on Wednesday morning and his absence means the Gunners will now re-enter the transfer market as they actively explore their options to strengthen the attack and provide cover. Boss Mikel Arteta wants a left winger as competition for Gabriel Martinelli, although already reportedly had to sell before the club is able to buy. The need for a striker now just adds a further wrinkle. Havertz came off the bench on 60 minutes during Sunday's Premier League opening 1-0 win over Manchester United to replace new signing Viktor Gyokeres, who is still getting fully up to speed with life at the Emirates. However, the Swedish international is now the only fully fit and available striker for Arteta, with Gabriel Jesus still recovering from the ACL injury he picked up back in January and not expected to be ready for match action for some time. Winger Leandro Trossard has previously featured as a No 9, and could be an option after recently signing a new contract, while central midfielder Mikel Merino filled in as emergency cover up front for a spell last season when Arsenal ran out of viable forwards. That Merino stint at No 9 partly came due to a previous Havertz injury, when he tore his hamstring during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai in February. He went on to miss 18 matches before returning as a substitute for the final couple of games of the season. The German international has scored 29 goals for the Gunners since joining from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 and his absence will put even more pressure on Gyokeres to quickly adapt to life in the Premier League and prove he can be a prolific goalscorer for a title-chasing team. After the largely unconvincing 1-0 win over Man United, Arsenal next host newly-promoted Leeds on Saturday aiming to avoid any early-season slip-ups as they try to wrest the Premier League trophy out of Liverpool's grasp this year.

John insisted a festive family reunion with his two-year-old daughter would interfere with Tommy's mindset ahead of the fight. You want to be training eat, drink, sleep, train, repeat. "It's six weeks of hell but you've got another four to six weeks to go and to do the other stuff, haven't you? "All that's out there is the pub, alcohol, s*** food and s*** company." Tommy replied: "That's all I ever do anyway. I don't do nothing else my whole life. Train." John said: "I don't know, Tom. You do enjoy yourself, don't you?," "Not really..." Tommy replied. John said: "If you can't sacrifice six weeks of your time without your children, all that s*** in the world outside. What we doing here?" Tommy was not happy with the decision and said 20 minutes with his daughter on Christmas Day would not change his boxing mentality. The former Love Island star said: "I can't see, on Christmas Day, me picking the baby, me saying 'Merry Christmas', I can't see that going to lead me to win a fight or not. "You're not doing that this time," but John demanded. Tommy replied: "But you've got to be happy." John insisted that sacrifices needed to be made in order to win big. Tommy continued: "Yeah, but you just got to go and hug the baby for five minutes. There's no harm in that." His dad hit back "You go back, you have your Christmas, you hold the baby, all of a sudden you get an L on your record for that day. "You will never look at them in the same light again, family or not family because you'll resent them." Tommy said: "20 minutes out of my day on Christmas," to which John added: "The greats don't do it." Speaking to the camera, Tommy explained why his father had such a staunch view on the matter, saying: "My dad doesn't understand the modern world. "And obviously he's just an old school fella and the way the world is today, you know, even I find it hard to live in the world sometimes today, with the amount of bull**** that's going on." Earlier today The Sun revealed the real reason for Molly-Mae's absence from Tommy's BBC show premiere has been revealed. The social media influencer was missing from the launch of his brand new reality TV series which raised eyebrows despite the pair being back together and claiming to be at "they're happiest". Molly also failed to mark the event on social media and shared no posts to support Tommy and his show. MISSING MOLLY But The Sun understands that Molly skipped the event as she was keen to not "overshadow" the launch of Tommy's programme and let him have his own time in the spotlight following their up and down 12 months. A source told The Sun: "Molly is keen to keep a low profile at the moment. "She is obviously back with Tommy but it's his night and doesn't want to overshadow it. "It's been a funny time for Molly - she's very thick skinned but she's had a lot to deal with and isn't used to backlash." A representative for Molly told The Sun that she was "away working" and very busy which caused her to miss the event. Current social media snaps show Molly enjoying a sunny break away with her best pal, Tayla-Blue. The best friend duo could be seen enjoying a relaxing evening by the beach with their children yesterday evening in snaps shared to Tayla's social media feed. One photo showed Molly and her daughter Bambi attempting to take a splash in the sea. Whilst other snaps showed Bambi looking stylish on the beach. For Tommy, he was joined by his parents in Manchester for a screening of BBC show The Good. The Bad. The Fury, which sees him rehash details of their recent split, as well as make a series of shock revelations about it. In the show, he made the shock revelation that he was downing "20 shots a night" and drinking to get "blackout drunk" ahead of their split last year. He said: "The reason for our ending the relationship was alcohol." He added: "I couldn't train, box, lift weights, that was all gone. "My right hand was messed up, I was in dire pain, it's just what happens over years of impact on the hand. "I had lost my entire identity, lost my life." 4
