CM Maryam vows to safeguard rights of children
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in her message on the 'International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression' said that millions of innocent children in Palestine and Kashmir have unfortunately become victims of Israeli and Indian aggression.
When the innocent smiles of children turn into sighs and sobs, humanity feels heartfelt grief and sorrow over it, she said, adding: 'Thousands of small bodies buried under the rubble of buildings in Gaza are a testament of global apathy to Israeli aggression.
In Gaza, the buildings destroyed due to Israeli bombing have not only turned into rubble but thousands of innocent children also got buried under it. The environment of Kashmir is filled with heavy sobs of children whose voices have been muted forever.'
She regretted that this human tragedy being faced by the innocent children who have become victims of aggression across the globe speaks volume of the dark side of human history.
The Chief Minister denounced that children unfortunately become victims of aggression not only in wars but also in peacetime. She highlighted that all possible measures will be taken to protect the innocent children from becoming victims of all kinds of exploitation and aggression in Punjab.
She outlined that the provincial cabinet of Punjab has approved the 'Child Protection Policy' for the first time in Pakistan. Every institution, every law and every step of the Punjab government is aligned for the rights, protection and welfare of the children. She emphasized that a society which cannot guarantee and provide peace to the children can never achieve sustainable peace itself.

NEW DELHI: India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday he will attend the Group of Seven leaders summit in Canada this month after receiving an invitation from the new Canadian premier. Ties between Canada and India were strained following accusations of New Delhi's involvement in the assassination of a Canadian Sikh, claims India denied. G7 glosses over tariffs, pledges to cut global economic imbalances Canada is home to the largest Sikh community outside India. That community includes activists for 'Khalistan', a fringe separatist movement seeking an independent state for the religious minority carved out of Indian territory. Ottawa previously accused India of orchestrating the 2023 killing in Vancouver of 45-year-old naturalised Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a prominent Khalistan campaigner, and targeting other Sikh activists connected to the movement. India has repeatedly dismissed the allegations, which sent diplomatic relations into freefall with both nations last year expelling a string of top diplomats. The Khalistan campaign dates back to India's 1947 independence and has been blamed for the assassination of a prime minister and the bombing of a passenger jet. It has been a bitter issue between India and several Western nations with large Sikh populations. New Delhi demands stricter action against the Khalistan movement, which is banned in India, with key leaders accused of 'terrorism'.

Two Indian-sponsored terrorists killed in Balochistan IBO: ISPR
Listen to article Security forces targeted a group of terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Kolpur, Kachhi District, Balochistan, the military's media wing reported on Friday. The operation, launched based on reports of the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian-backed proxy group Fitna al Hindustan, was confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The security forces swiftly engaged the terrorists' location, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire. The operation led to the neutralisation of two terrorists, who were confirmed to be sponsored by India, ISPR said. In addition to eliminating the terrorists, security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. These individuals were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities orchestrated by India in the region, the statement added. The operation continues with ongoing sanitisation efforts to eliminate any remaining threats in the area. The ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to eliminating Indian-sponsored terrorism and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
