61st Rubinstein Memorial: Aravindh held by leader Yakubboev in fourth round, placed joint-third
Top seed Aravindh, playing with black pieces, was held by Uzbek GM Nodirbek Yakubboev.
Radoslaw Wojtaszek, one of the four Polish GMs in the 10-player field, joined Yakubboev at the top with a victory over England's Michael Adams while Germany's Matthias Bluebaum equalled India No. 5 Aravindh's tally after beating Pawel Teclaf, another local hope.
In the fifth round, Aravindh, who has a FIDE rating of 2723, faces last-placed Jan Klimkowski.
The event is a traditional annual tournament honouring Akiba Rubinstein, one of the most influential Polish players in history.
It has a round-robin format. The time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 more minutes for the rest of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Former England Pacer Stuart Broad Keen To Take Up Coaching Role
His illustrious career now a part of England's cricketing folklore, legendary pace bowler Stuart Broad is planning a move towards coaching role where he can some day produce the likes of Jofra Archers and Jimmy Andersons. Broad, the second-highest wicket-taking pace bowler in Test cricket after country-mate Anderson, says he has spoken to Rob Key, managing director of the England cricket team, and expressed his desire to groom the U-17 and U-19 players. "It's certainly something I want to stay connected to, the coaching," Broad, who has taken 604 Test wickets," told The Telegraph. "I've chatted to Rob Key a little bit about doing some stuff with the younger bowlers in the England setups when the schedule suits," added the tall former pacer, who has donned the role of a broadcaster after hanging up his spikes. Broad, who figures in seventh place in the list of all-time highest wicket-takers across formats, added that though he had not set a timeline on taking the plunge into coaching, he was optimistic it could happen as early as next year. "I haven't set any sort of targets or dates of coaching or what's to come, but probably next year I'd start looking at dipping my toe into it a little bit more." Broad was a consultant to the South African cricket team ahead of their World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord's, which the Proteas won to clinch their maiden ICC world title. He believes he can play a role in accelerating the development of younger bowlers in the England set-up. "The U19s or even U17s - you really know what you're developing, and you've got your base of technique, but the growth you can make between 15 and 20 is huge." "What excites me the most is, where's the next Jofra Archer? Where's the next Jimmy Anderson? I watched on Instagram, Harry Moore, who's been out with a stress fracture. I look at him and go, 'huge talent, 6ft 6in, swings it both ways, hits good areas'. "Where could he be in four years' time? Maybe even less than that? Where can you spot these players whose ceiling is very high?" Broad says he agrees with Rob Key's plan of engaging stalwarts like Andrew Flintoff and Graeme Swann, among others, to strengthen England cricket. "I'm completely on Rob Key's side. You want your best cricket brains still sharing information to the best players, and you don't want them to be put off by having to jump through loads and loads of hoops that might be a bit unnecessary with the knowledge they've got." Broad's other desire is to become a "really good broadcaster" and believes Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri has a captivating voice. "The level of analysis that Ricky Ponting gives, the detail that he's going into. The tone of voice with Ravi Shastri - how he can go up and down and pick moments to really go. I'm always looking and learning. "I'm definitely all in on the broadcasting at this moment in time, because I'm certainly not at a level that I'm comfortable with. I want to get better and better and be in those moments where I'm calling great cricket."

Yashasvi Jaiswal was in the squad for last year's T20 World, which India went on to win. However, since then, Jaiswal has not been part of the T20 bilaterals that India has played. Although Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have performed well at the top, there was an expectation from a few former players that Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has done quite well for the Rajasthan Royals, would get his call, which did not happen. When former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was asked about the same, he said on India Today: 'You can only pick XI in the match and you can only pick 15 in the squad. Somebody has to miss out, that's just one of those in Indian cricket. No point in discussing whether A or B or C should've been there. This is now our team. We can all have our opinions before the selection committee picks the team but once the team is picked, we should back it fully. We shouldn't be saying A should've been there or B should've been there. That only creates controversy, which the players don't need.' From 66 IPL games, Jaiswal has scored 2166 runs at an average of 34.38 and a strike rate of 152.86. However, Shubman Gill, who also has not been a part of the side since last year's series against Zimbabwe, has been made the vice-captain for the showpiece event. 'Not surprising at all. He (Shubman Gill) scored over 750 runs just a couple of weeks ago. You cannot exclude a player in that kind of form. Also, he has done really well in the IPL, which concluded just before the tour to England. It's a very good inclusion. Giving him the vice-captaincy is also a way of telling him that in the future, he could be leading the T20 side. I think it's a very, very good selection,' Gavaskar said.

Kuldeep slips to third in ODI rankings, Maharaj regains top spot
Agency: Dubai, Aug 20 (PTI) India wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has slipped to third place in the latest ICC ODI rankings for bowlers released on Wednesday with South African tweaker Kehsav Maharaj reclaiming the top position. Maharaj regained the top position after helping his team beat Australia by 98 runs in the first ODI of their three-match series in Cairns. The 35-year-old left-arm spinner, who was named Player of the Match after grabbing five for 33, overtook Kuldeep and Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana to the top spot, which he had earlier held briefly in November and December 2023. Apart from Kuldeep, Ravindra Jadeja is the only Indian bowler who is in the top 10 in the updated list. The Indian team has not played an ODI match since their title triumph in the Champions Trophy. West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales was another one to make huge inroads in the bowling rankings after his superb haul of six for 18 in the final game of their three-match series against Pakistan, moving up 15 spots to 18th position. Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed (up 15 places to joint-39th) and West Indies off-spinner Roston Chase (up five places to 58th) are others to move up the list.
