Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime advances to Cincinnati Open quarterfinals
Auger-Aliassime rode his powerful serve to a 6-4, 6-3 victory on Wednesday, firing nine aces across the one-hour, 14-minute match.
The 25-year-old from Montreal won all three available break points and 89 per cent of his first-serve points.
Auger-Aliassime will face the top-seeded Jannik Sinner of Italy in the quarterfinals of the hard court tournament.
Sinner is coming off a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over French qualifier Adrian Mannarino in the round of 16.
Auger-Aliassime is the lone Canadian singles player still in the tournament, though Canadian doubles specialist Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner, New Zealand's Erin Routliffe, are set to play American Caty McNally and Linda Noskova of Czechia in third-round action on Thursday.

France's Cernousek seizes lead at LPGA Portland Classic
Rising French talent Adela Cernousek conjured an eagle and six birdies in an eight-under-par 64 to break free atop a jammed leaderboard after the first round of the LPGA Portland Classic on Thursday. After teeing off on 10 and making two birdies in her first 10 holes, Cernousek roared up the leaderboard with birdies at four, five and six. The 22-year-old carded an eagle at the par-five seventh and added a birdie at the ninth to cap a sensational 64, admitting she let out "a little scream" when she almost holed out for an eagle at the ninth. "I thought it was going to go in," she said. "I'm super happy to hit the pin because it stayed pretty close and it was cool," she said. "I felt very good with my whole game," added Cernousek, who turned pro in December after winning a US collegiate golf title playing for Texas A&M last year. Cernousek was one stroke in front of a group that included former world number one Park Sung-hyun and South Korean compatriot Lee5 Jeong-eun, two-time major winner Brooke Henderson of Canada, Chinese rookie Miranda Wang and American Gurleen Kaur. Henderson and Wang both nabbed seven birdies without a bogey, Henderson teeing off on 10 and launching her round with four straight birdies before adding three more coming in. Wang had five of her birdies on the back nine, including four in a row at 12, 13, 14 and 15. Lee5 had an eagle and six birdies with one bogey. Park had eight birdies to offset her lone bogey, as did Kaur. Five more players were tied on 66 and another eight on five-under 67. Juli Inkster, the 65-year-old LPGA Hall of Famer making a rare appearance on tour as she preps for the US Women's Senior Open, fired a three-under 69. Guerrero's 20th homer helps Blue Jays beat Cubs 2-1
TORONTO (AP) — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning, helping Max Scherzer and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 on Thursday. Guerrero's big hit off Matthew Boyd lifted AL East-leading Toronto to the series victory. It was the 20th homer of the season for the All-Star slugger. Hamza Igamane a Rennes transfer 'priority' as two Rangers striker deals vetoed amid Turgeman talks
Stade Rennes have reportedly made Rangers striker Hamza Igamane a signing priority as they prepare for life without Arnaud Kalimuendo. Record Sport understands that Feyenoord are considering shattering their own transfer record by launching a big money move for the striker - while Lille have kept tables on the Morocco international throughout the summer. L'Equipe report that striker Kalimuendo has rejected a move to Leeds United - but the club remain in talks for a £20million sale to either Newcastle United or Brentford. While Rangers' boss Russell Martin has stated there has been no bids for Igamane and expects him to ramp up his fitness against Alloa this weekend, Jeunes Footeux report that Rennes are considering an approach for the £15million-rated 22-year-old. But the French side are far from alone in the search for Igamane's signature with Moroccan outlet Le Matin stating that Marseille, Strasbourg, and Lens are also tracking a deal from Ligue 1. Everton, West Ham and Brentford are said to be keen to take the forward to the Premier League, while Borussia Monchengladbach and Udinese are also named as interested suitors. A departure for Igamane would leave Rangers in dire need of a new frontman with Cyriel Dessers facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up a knock in the Champions League qualifier with Viktoria Plzen. Westerlo striker Matija Frigan, however, looks to be off the table. Record Sport confirmed Gers interest in the Croatian frontman earlier this summer but also noted that Martin's side are likely to be blown out of the water by offers from elsewhere. Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio has stated that the striker is set to seal a move to Parma with a medical already pencilled in. Reports south of the border have also suggested that Martin has been keen to reunite with Southampton striker Cameron Archer.
