Cubs send slumping Guardians to sixth straight loss

July 3 - Seiya Suzuki had two hits and three RBIs and Shota Imanaga pitched into the sixth inning as the host Chicago Cubs beat Cleveland 5-4 on Wednesday night, handing the Guardians their sixth straight loss. Pete Crow-Armstrong had two hits and drove in two runs for Chicago, which rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to win for the fifth time in its last seven games. Dansby Swanson added two hits. Imanaga (5-2) allowed three runs on four hits with no walks and four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings. Ryan Pressly, Caleb Thielbar and Brad Keller followed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings before the Guardians threatened in the ninth against Daniel Palencia. After the Guardians put runners on second and third with one out in the ninth, a run scored on Steven Kwan's sacrifice fly. Then, with Bo Naylor on second base, Palencia got Kyle Manzardo to fly out to earn his 10th save. Carlos Santana, Lane Thomas and David Fry each hit solo homers for Cleveland, which has scored a total of 12 runs during its losing streak. After allowing a total of seven home runs in his first nine starts this season, Imanaga gave up back-to-back shots to Santana and Thomas to begin the second inning. Imanaga was victimized by the long ball again with one out in the third inning, when Fry turned on a 1-1 fastball for his second homer this season. Chicago battled back with two runs in the third inning against Tanner Bibee (4-9). With two on and no outs, Suzuki doubled in a run and Crow-Armstrong followed with an RBI single. Imanaga retired nine of the next 10 batters faced after Fry's homer, and the Cubs moved ahead with three runs in the fourth. With runners at second and third and two outs, Matt Shaw scored on Suzuki's single. Crow-Armstrong then tripled in a run, but was tagged out at third base to end the inning. Bibee gave up five runs on six hits over four innings. He walked four and struck out five. Chicago loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth inning, but the Guardians escaped unscathed when Hunter Gaddis got Swanson to fly out. --Field Level Media

Did Simone Biles get secret plastic surgery? Gymnast unveils new look on holiday

Simone Biles has sparked speculation she's had a secret breast enlargement after posting a series of snaps from a tropical getaway. The Olympic gymnast, 28 - who recently deleted her X account amid drama with Riley Gaines - unveiled a glaring new busty look while posing in a string bikini. The new snaps set the internet is alight with surgery rumors, with Dana Omari - who runs a popular plastic surgery-themed account @IGFamousByDana - among those reposting the image to her stories to offer her thoughts. Omari speculated that the sports star had work done on her breasts by penning, 'Simone Biles with the breast aug!! She looks incredible.' Biles has not yet publicly addressed the speculation. The athlete - who has previously admitted to using Botox - also uploaded a selfie as she further flaunted her toned figure which she took in the reflection of a mirror. Simone wowed in a plunging green bikini top with a flashy gold embellishment as well as matching bottoms. She layered the eye-catching look with a sheer coverup and slipped into a pair of open-toed sandals. Biles stood in a shady area of a spacious balcony as the scenic ocean was sprawled out behind her. Her dark locks were styled into a low up do and she completed the outfit with a pair of black shades. Last year, the gymnast revealed that she had Botox in celebration of her 27th birthday - but was not a fan of the procedure. In a TikTok video, she explained: 'For my 27th birthday I got Botox, like baby botox, in my T-zone and I did not like it. 'I haven't got it again because I would be standing there in practice and my eyebrow would randomly go like this [pulls it up]. So not doing that again.'

New York Knicks reportedly offer coaching job to Mike Brown

The New York Knicks have offered their coaching job to Mike Brown and are working to finalize a deal with the two-time NBA Coach of the Year, a person with knowledge of the details said Wednesday. Brown would replace Tom Thibodeau, who was fired last month despite leading the Knicks to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. Brown had his second interview with the Knicks on Tuesday before the job was offered, the person told the Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the search were to remain private. The plan to hire Brown was first reported by ESPN. Brown earned his second award as the NBA's top coach after leading Sacramento to the playoffs in 2022-23 – ending what was the league's longest postseason drought with its first appearance since 2006 – but the Kings fired him nearly halfway through last season. He would take over a Knicks team that believes it can contend for the NBA title and made it clear that was the only goal when it made the surprising decision to fire Thibodeau, who like Brown is a two-time winner of the NBA's Coach of the Year award. The Knicks quickly identified Brown as a candidate they wanted to speak with, while also discussing the job with former Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins and current assistants James Borrego of New Orleans and Micah Nori of Minnesota before offering the position to Brown. Brown was honored with his first coaching award when he coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team he led to the NBA finals in 2007 during his first stint with the organization. He also coached the Los Angeles Lakers and is 454-304 in his career. Brown also won four championships as an assistant coach, three with the Golden State Warriors and one under Gregg Popovich in San Antonio. His coaching staff will be discussed in the coming days, the person told AP. Thibodeau led the Knicks to their only sustained success of the 2000s, with four playoff appearances in his five seasons. They reached at least the East semi-finals each of the last three seasons and reached 50 wins in both of the last two.
