AEK Athens has been the name most heavily linked with the Gers star, who still has two years left on his deal at the Ibrox side.
However it looks like Dessers moving to Greece could be OFF.
Former Real Madrid and Champions League winning star Luka Jovic looks set to sign for the Greek side.
Fabrizio Romano has said on X that the 27 year old will sign a deal until 2027 with AEK, despite clubs in Spain chasing his signature.
It was reported that Dessers had even agreed personal terms with the Greek side, but Ibrox chiefs were determined to hold out for more money for the striker.
30 year old Dessers has scored 51 goals for the Gers and also bagged last seasons Scottish Premiership golden boot and Rangers top scorer.
Despite his half century of goals, Dessers has become a Marmite figure amongst the Rangers support.
Rangers season started against Motherwell at the weekend, with Dessers coming off the bench for the last half an hour.
He couldn't add to his 51 goals in Light Blue, and a late Motherwell equaliser made it three seasons in a row where Rangers have failed to win their opening league fixture.
The result caused a scathing post match interview from Gers boss Russell Martin.
Motherwell and Rangers fans displays ahead of Premiership opener
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said : "We were very lucky to get a point.
"I'm extremely disappointed and hurt by that.
"They were braver than us, they were more aggressive than us, and I've said to the players, I've been really honest with them - there is a default here at this football club.
"It's not one person's fault at all.
"The default is to revert to type, which is when it's going really well, everyone's all in, it's really good, but it's not going well, you protect yourself a little bit, and the self-preservation stuff.
"You can't play for this club and enjoy the really good moments, and not when it gets tough.
"You have to be all in all the time, and we had two men on the pitch today that want to do what they want to do."
Rangers will have to dust themselves off as they have another Champions League qualifier to attend to this week, taking on Viktoria Plzen.

Rangers vs Viktoria Plzen LIVE score and goal updates from the Champions League clash at Ibrox
Martin wields axe in 'leaked' team Russell Martin said what many Rangers fans have felt for years about the some of the current squad members when the blazing boss went nuclear with his fizzing Fir Park post match interview. But supporters will find out if he will follow it up by actually taking drastic action when they face Viktoria Plzen in their huge Champions League third round qualifying first leg. And if the leaked team sweeping social media in the hours building up to the match are anything to go by then it seems Martin might be about to get ruthless. For a start, in the XI being bandied about there is NO place for captain James Tavernier with the skipper, despite opening the scoring against Motherwell, coming in for criticism for his part in the Steelmen's late leveller. Martin referred to players 'just jogging around' and both Tavernier and the much-maligned Kieran Dowell didn't cover themselves in glory in the build up to the late sucker punch, neither strong enough in the tackle to stop Emmanuel Longelo as he made his way into the box before the ball ended up back him to fire past Jack Butland. Tavernier has split the Ibrox support for long enough with many fans believing a succession of managers' loyalty to the long-serving skipper has cost them. And with Max Aarons a natural right back being played on the left - and looking uncomfortable - to accommodate Tavernier then it could be Martin will choose to bench Tavernier and bring Jefte into the left back slot. Martin surprised many by turning to Dowell this season when it looked like the ex-Norwich City man's Ibrox career was over when he was shipped out on loan to Birmingham City. And he hasn't made the most of his second chance in this three outings this season but with the signing of Oliver Antman and his inclusion in the Champions League squad then it wouldn't be a major surprise to see that swap, as the rumoured line-up suggests. Martin picked out Cyriel Dessers and Lyall Cameron for praise in terms of attitude amid a blast about egos in the squad and those two could also come in. And that would also see the axe fall on Nico Raskin, with Joe Rothwell's arrival squeezing him out of the position he did so well in last season, and Danilo.

That's as new signing Oliver Antman HAS been registered in time to play a part tonight. Fellow new arrival Mikey Moore misses out due to ongoing registration and international clearance issues relating to his age. Rangers welcome the Czech side to Ibrox for the first leg of their crunch Champions League third qualifying round tie - with the return leg taking place in Plzen in a week's time. The Gers have already seen-off Greek giants Panathinaikos to reach this stage, triumphing 3-1 on aggregate. But some of the gloss from that achievement was taken off when the Light Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Motherwell on the opening day of the Premiership season. A clearly irate Martin took aim at his players after that match and told some of them to leave their egos at the door. Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RANGERS ultras group the Union Bears have revealed that they've had to SCRAP plans to welcome their heroes onto the pitch against Viktoria Plzen with a massive tifo. The Gers fans group are renowned for their displays, particularly on European nights and other big games. 2 Rangers fans Union Bears Credit: Kenny Ramsay 2 How they broke the news But they've had to make the call to DITCH their planned display ahead of the clash with the Czech outfit. That's because of the high winds hitting the West of Scotland over the last few days which have left them with no choice. They wrote on X: "Due to the wind/adverse weather we are reluctantly pulling tonight's planned tifo. "After weeks of work this decision is the last thing we wanted but we've been left with no choice. "In the absence of a tifo we urge all fans heading to Ibrox tonight bring a scarf and more importantly bring the noise and back the team right from the start. "Union Bears, No Surrender."
