Humid days with scattered rain in store this week
Lucknow: Gear up for very humid days followed by few spells of rain this week. According to weatherman, the city is likely to receive a few spells of isolated light rain this week, but humidity levels will be very high. On Sunday, some parts of the city received rain and total of 4.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Amausi Airport. Indore: Despite a heavy rainfall alert, the monsoon remained subdued in Indore on Sunday, with the city witnessing only cloudy skies and light drizzle. After a cloudy morning, the afternoon cleared up, allowing sunlight to return and pushing the day's maximum temperature to 32.2 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 23.2 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. At 5:30 pm, the temperature stood at 30.8 degrees Celsius with 74 percent humidity. Rainfall activity was negligible, with only 1.2 mm recorded in the past 24 hours. Seasonal rainfall in Indore now stands at 352.8 mm, which is 243.7 mm below normal. This translates to roughly 14 inches of rainfall so far, about seven inches less than what is expected by this time of the monsoon. Weather experts warned that only consistent showers in the latter half of August can help bridge this gap. With no rainfall, heat returns after a day of intermittent showers
Bhopal: In the absence of showers on Sunday, the day temperature shot up a bit in Bhopal, leaving residents to battle heat and humidity during the day. Rainfall activity reduced in other parts of the state too on Sunday, but weather warning for heavy showers remains in place for parts of the state.
