SkyMed, the gripping Canadian medical drama, has captured audiences with its high-stakes rescues and compelling character-driven storytelling. Set in the remote wilderness of northern Manitoba, the series follows a team of nurses and pilots operating air ambulances, blending intense medical emergencies with personal drama. With Season 3 having premiered on May 15, 2025, on Paramount+ in the U.S., fans are already buzzing with anticipation for SkyMed Season 4. While no official announcement has been made, here's everything we know so far about the potential release date, cast, plot, and more. SkyMed Season 4 Release Date Speculation
As of May 23, 2025, Paramount+ hasn't officially confirmed SkyMed Season 4, but the show's popularity and acclaim suggest a renewal is likely. Based on previous production timelines, if Season 4 is greenlit in 2025 and begins filming in early 2026, a release could be expected sometime between late 2026 and mid-2027. SkyMed Season 4 Expected Cast
While no official cast list has been confirmed for Season 4, the core ensemble from Season 3 is expected to return, assuming their characters' arcs remain open. Based on Season 3's cast and the show's history of continuity, here's who we might see: Natasha Calis as Hayley Roberts
Morgan Holmstrom as Crystal Highway
Praneet Akilla as Jay 'Chopper' Chopra
Mercedes Morris as Lexi
Thomas Elms as Nowak
Kheon Clarke as Tristan
Sydney Kuhne as Stef
Aaron Ashmore as Captain William 'Wheezer' Heaseman
Aason 'Ace' Nadjiwon as Captain Austen Bodie
Emilia McCarthy as Madison Van Camp SkyMed Season 4 Potential Plot
While specific plot details for Season 4 are unavailable without an official renewal, we can make educated guesses based on Season 3's trajectory and the show's themes. Here's what Season 4 might explore:
Hayley's Recovery Journey: Nurse Hayley Roberts' struggle with addiction, hinted at in Season 2, was a key focus in Season 3. Season 4 could delve deeper into her recovery, exploring how her team supports her while she balances life-saving missions.
Romantic Developments: The potential romance between Hayley and Wheezer, teased in earlier seasons, could take center stage. Similarly, Chopper's chemistry with Marianne and Lexi's bond with Stef may evolve, adding layers of drama and connection.
New Medical Emergencies: SkyMed thrives on intense rescue missions in Manitoba's wilderness. Season 4 would likely introduce new, heart-pounding scenarios, such as blizzards, wildfires, or remote accidents, testing the team's skills.

Kimmel defends Colbert amid cancellation, calls Paramount's money excuse 'nonsensical'

If the defense of late-night is a lost cause, Jimmy Kimmel will go down swinging. The ABC comic told Variety in a recent interview that the money issues Paramount cited for their recent cancellation of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" were "nonsensical." Colbert's show, one of the top-rated programs in the genre, was cancelled permanently earlier this year, with the CBS parent company citing financial difficulties. Others, however, didn't buy that explanation, positing instead that Paramount, which was hoping for approval of a merger from the Trump Administration's FCC, bent the knee to the president to grease the wheels. The merger was approved shortly after the cancellation was announced. Kimmel, whose own show is an institution in late-night comedy, falls firmly in that camp. "I just want to say that the idea that Stephen Colbert's show was losing $40 million a year is beyond nonsensical," the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host told Variety in the interview published Aug. 18. "These alleged insiders who supposedly analyze the budgets of the shows −I don't know who they are, but I do know they don't know what they're talking about." Kimmel went on to say that those claiming Colbert was hemorrhaging money were too focused on advertising revenue, and not looking at the whole pie, which includes affiliate fees: the dollar amounts TV providers pay networks for the right to carry their channels. USA TODAY has reached out to Paramount for comment. "It really is surprising how little the media seems to know about how the media works. There's just not a snowball's chance in hell that that's anywhere near accurate," he said, later adding: "Who knows what's true? All I know is they keep paying us − and that's kind of all you need to know." He also expressed frustration at the narrative that the late-night format is a "rotting corpse," which he called a "great storyline for the press" but "simply not true." "The idea that late-night is dead is simply untrue. People just aren't watching it on network television in the numbers they used to − or live, for that matter," Kimmel told the outlet, pointing to growing viewership on streaming and YouTube. Whether those formats add up to the same payout as a live audience is a different story, however. The media environment, across genres, has been contorting rapidly for over a decade, as creators of myriad forms of content compete for shrinking attention spans in an increasingly crowded market. Whether Colbert, Kimmel, and their comrades on NBC can break through the noise is an ongoing experiment. But, in the meantime, Kimmel says he's hoping Colbert can nab an Emmy. "It seems like voting for Stephen is the least we could do at this point, and I think it will be a nice statement if he does win," he said of the television awards. "Obviously, awards don't mean much, but every once in a while they do, and in this case, I think it will. So I fully expect Stephen to win the Emmy as I think people are very, very upset about what happened to him and his show."

Duffer Brothers In Talks With Paramount For Massive Deal

Paramount continues to make waves with splashy deals following Skydance's acquisition. We're hearing that Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer are in talks for a massive overall deal at the David Ellison-run media company. Details are still being worked out, and sources caution that things still could fall through, but we're hearing it would include both streaming and features with a big theatrical component, something the pair have not been able to get at their current home of more than a decade, Netflix. A rep for Paramount declined comment. The high-profile talent poaching would mark the first major move for Cindy Holland, Paramount's Chair of Direct-to-Consumer, who, as Head of English-language original series at Netflix, championed Stranger Things. In fact, the Duffers would be reunited with two executives who were key to Netflix betting on them and their 1980s supernatural drama. 'Ted Sarandos, Cindy Holland, Brian Wright and Matt Thunell took a huge chance on us and our show — and forever changed our lives,' the Duffers said in 2019 when Stranger Things was renewed for a fourth season and they signed a big overall deal with the streamer. Since the Skydance-Paramount Global merger closed last week, Paramount has made a $7.7 billion deal with the UFC and has landed the James Mangold and Timothée Chalamet package High Side, both in a competitive situation. At a press event this week, the new Paramount leadership expressed their univocal support for theatrical movies. The news about the Duffers' pending Paramount deal comes as Stranger Things is coming to an end with its upcoming fifth season on Netflix. In 2022, the Duffers launched their production company, Upside Down Pictures, for film and television projects as part of a new overall deal with Netflix. They described Upside Down's mission at the time as aiming to create the kind of stories that inspired them growing up — 'stories that take place at that beautiful crossroads where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where big spectacle co-exists with intimate character work, where heart wins out over cynicism.' Under that pact, the Duffer brothers are executive producing new Netflix supernatural series The Boroughs, which stars Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Clarke Peters, Bill Pullman and Denis O'Hare. They also have been working on a Stranger Things: Tales From '85 animated series and a live-action Stranger Things spinoff series. Stranger Things extensions would be carved out of the Duffer brothers' Paramount deal. Stranger Things was the first Netflix original series to become a pop culture phenomenon and branch out beyond the platform with Halloween costumes, toys and a presence at Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights en route to becoming a merchandising juggernaut. Netflix and the Duffers also successfully expanded the franchise to the stage with the award-winning play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which has had successful runs both in the West End and on Broadway. Season 5 of Stranger Things will debut with four episodes on November 26, followed by three episodes on Christmas, and the finale on New Year's Eve. Stranger Things 4 is the third most-watched English-language series title on Netflix with 140.7 million views. The show's third season is No. 10 on the most popular list with 98.4 million views. The Duffers are eight-time Emmy nominees. Prior to Stranger Things they were co-EPs on the 2015-2016 Fox series Wayward Pines. They are repped by CAA, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes. ‘Lioness' & ‘The Madison' Poised For Renewals As New Paramount Brass Praise Taylor Sheridan & He Opens New Texas Campus With 101 Studios

Taylor Sheridan's name came up a lot at the Los Angeles press event this week with the new Paramount leadership as virtually every top executive hailed the prolific creator's business as a top TV asset of the combined Skydance-Paramount Global company. 'On Paramount+ today, we have a really great foundation, which is the Taylor Sheridan universe,' Paramount's Chair of Direct-to-Consumer Cindy Holland said. More from Deadline International Insider: Paramount's Week One; Cillian On 'Steve'; Channel 4 Chuckles David Ellison's Paramount Takes Gloves Off In 'Top Gun: Maverick' Script Suit As Third Flyboy Flick On Deck Duffer Brothers In Talks With Paramount For Massive Deal - The Dish Paramount CEO David Ellison called Sheridan 'a singular genius with a perfect track record.' Every Taylor Sheridan show to date has performed well and, outside of those designed as limited series, they have gone to multiple seasons, with all except mothership Yellowstone still ongoing. That will continue with new seasons for Yellowstone spinoff The Madison and Special Ops: Lioness, sources tell Deadline. It would be an early Season 2 renewal for The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, ahead of its series debut on Paramount+, and a long-awaited Season 3 pickup for Lioness. Its star Zoe Saldaña already had a deal in place spanning three seasons but co-star Nicole Kidman had to make a new one for Season 3, which was a contributing factor to the delay, sources said. The new seasons will film at the new 450,000 sf production campus in Fort Worth Texas' 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development. It was recently launched as a partnership between SGS Studios, Sheridan's company with 101 Studios CEO David Glasser; Paramount Television and Hillwood, a Perot Company. Filming at the campus — the largest operating studio facility in Texas — began in March 2025 on the upcoming second season Sheridan's drama Landman starring Billy Bob Thornton. Glasser, whose 101 Studios co-produces all Sheridan series alongside Paramount TV Studios, revealed that Landman Season 2 is one of four shows that will shoot in Fort Worth this year, with The Madison Season 2 slated to begin filming in September, followed by Lioness Season 3 in October. Sheridan's current deal with Paramount goes to 2028. Ellison confirmed to Deadline that the company would be happy to extend it. 'We can just make this his home for as long as he wants to tell stories,' he said on stage earlier. The Madison is billed as a heartfelt study of grief and human connection, following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana. Sheridan executive produces with Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, Pfeiffer and Keith Cox. Lioness is inspired by an actual U.S. military program that follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA's spear in the war on terror. The series is executive produced by Sheridan, Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Burkle, Yari, Hutkin, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Cox.
