Five-hour-plus marathon show proves group's unwavering bond with fans
Veteran boy band Infinite wrapped up its 15th debut anniversary tour with a grand finale, promising an even greater future with its fans.
Infinite held encore performances Saturday and Sunday for its 15th debut anniversary concert at the Inspire Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, attended by 20,000 fans who, over the two days, braved the stormy weather to see Infinite onstage.
After kicking off "Limited Edition" in Seoul last December, Infinite went on to perform 13 shows in eight cities including Taipei, Jakarta, Singapore and Yokohama, with the two encore concerts marking the grand finale.
The venue erupted with cheers as the six members descended a giant staircase from the ceiling against a backdrop video resembling a grand palace. The concert opened with a string of tightly produced signature dance tracks — 'Last Romeo,' 'Paradise' and 'The Eye.'
Reflecting their 15 years in the business, the members commanded the stage with confidence and ease. Like old friends, they joked with fans and dropped hints about upcoming performances, heightening the excitement.
The encore concert featured the complete tracklist from the group's 8th EP "Like Infinite," released in March. From main track 'Dangerous,' which began with a violinist's live intro, to the sultry performance of 'Way You Are' and 'Umbrella,' featuring a laser show that looked like falling rain, each stage of the show revealed the group's diverse charms.
True to the concert's title, 'Limited Edition,' there were also special, one-of-a-kind performances. Main vocalists Sungkyu and Woohyun delivered a rock-spirited duet of 'Beautiful,' while Sungyeol and Seongjong put their own spin on 'Delicious,' originally released in 2014 by Woohyun and SHINee's Key. L and Dongwoo performed a rock version of 'Wings,' a track from Infinite's debut album.
The stage production stood out just as much as the members' flawless live vocals: A giant infinity symbol hung from the ceiling, changing colors with each performance. A massive mirror ball descended from the center of the ceiling for the electronic tracks 'Air' and 'Be Mine,' accompanied by a laser show.
On the first night, the group performed for around four hours, and on the final night, Infinite set a record with a marathon 5 1/2-hour show. Even after multiple encores, Infinite found it hard to say goodbye to their fans. Holding back tears, Sungyeol said, 'We promise to come together again soon in some way. Until the day we meet again, please stay healthy and happy.'
Dongwoo also expressed heartfelt gratitude and looked toward the future. 'We've had a six-year hiatus, military service breaks and more — but what helped us endure all of it was you. No matter the winds or waves, you stood strong with hearts as vast as the sea. We've made it to our 15th anniversary and we hope to go on to our 30th. We want you to be with us for that journey.'
