Li Jian, 38, was arrested at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport on Wednesday as he was about to board an AirAsia flight to Da Nang,
Vietnam , local media reported.
An existing warrant for his arrest related to fraud had been issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court earlier that day.
Li reportedly convinced an unsuspecting victim to exchange
Chinese yuan for a stablecoin in exchange for investment opportunities.
The victim transferred USDT tokens, valued at more than 1.26 million baht (US$38,600), in exchange for 178,000 yuan (US$24,800). Li did not transfer the yuan, prompting the victim to file a police report, according to Thai daily Khao Sod.

Body of Thai hostage Nattapong Pinta recovered by Israeli military

Israel says it has retrieved the body of a Thai hostage kidnapped into Gaza on October 7, 2023, as it continues its military offensive across the strip, killing at least 22 people overnight, according to health officials. Advertisement The Prime Minister's office said on Saturday that the body of Thai citizen Nattapong Pinta was returned to Israel in a special military operation. Pinta was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz and killed in captivity near the start of the war, said the government. This comes two days after the bodies of two Israeli-American hostages were retrieved. Fifty-five hostages remain in Gaza, of whom Israel says more than half are dead. The defence minister said on Saturday that Pinta's body was retrieved from the Rafah area. He had come to Israel from Thailand to work in agriculture. Advertisement The army said he was taken into Gaza by the Mujahideen Brigades, the small armed group that it said had also abducted and killed Shiri Bibas and her two small children. It is also the same group that took the two Israeli-American hostages, Judith Weinstein and Gad Haggai, whose bodies were retrieved by the army on Thursday.

Thai military ups ante in Cambodia border row, says it's ready for ‘high-level operation'

Thailand's military said it is ready to launch a 'high-level operation' to counter any violation of its sovereignty, in the strongest words yet in a simmering border dispute with Cambodia that re-erupted with a deadly clash last week. The army said in a statement late on Thursday that its intelligence gathering indicated Cambodia had stepped up its military readiness at their border while diplomatic efforts were ongoing, describing that as 'worrisome'. The statement was in sharp contrast with one from the government just hours earlier, when it urged Cambodia to positively engage in dialogue via an existing mechanism between them. 'The army is now ready for a high-level military operation in case it is necessary to retaliate against the violation of sovereignty,' it said, ahead of a meeting of its armed forces top brass scheduled for Friday. 'Operations of units at the border have been conducted carefully, calmly and based on an understanding of the situation to prevent losses on all sides, but at the same time, are ready to defend the country's sovereignty to the fullest extent if the situation is called for.' Cambodia's government did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the Thai military statement on Friday. The governments of the two countries had for days exchanged carefully worded statements committing to dialogue after a brief skirmish in an undemarcated border area on May 28 in which a Cambodian soldier was killed.
