Sima Taparia said ‘can't find someone for you because you are a Muslim,' claims Nausheen Ali Sardar: ‘I laughed in my head'

Television actor Nausheen Ali Sardar, besst known for appearing in the television show Kkusum, recently spoke about a bizarre experience she had a few years ago when renowned matchmaker Sima Taparia allegedly turned down her matchmaking request owing to her religious identity. For the unversed, Mumbai-based marriage consultant Sima serves as the face of the hit Netflix reality series Indian Matchmaking, where she 'guides clients around the world in the arranged marriage process, offering an inside look at the custom in a modern era.' During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Nausheen said, 'My sister approached her because her show was a hit. I think this was during COVID when my sister told me, 'Dude, you don't know how to find the right life partner. At least let us help you.' I gave them a go-ahead, saying I have no problem and will settle down if I like the person. She had seen the show and said we would 'confront' her. My problem was that though I was born a Muslim, I don't follow Islam. So, who is the right guy for me?' Mentioning that her preference was to find a Catholic, Sikh or Punjabi groom, Nausheen recalled Sima Taparia's response that left her shocked. She claimed that Sima refused to take her on as a client because of her religion. 'We can't find someone for you because you are a Muslim,' she allegedly said, as per Nausheen. She further went on to take a swipe at the matchmaker for holding outdated views on femininity. 'I used to make fun of her because of her character on the show. 'A girl should always remain quiet and keep her eyes down,' she says on the show. I laughed in my head, thinking, this is the person telling me she can't find someone for me because of my religion,' Nausheen added. Born to an Iranian mother and a Punjabi father, Nausheen Ali Sardar grew up in a Catholic society and school.
