G-Dragon set to rock Bangkok this August

Time Out19-06-2025
Brace yourselves, Thai VIPs. After years of near-silence, the K-pop icon G-Dragon has officially announced his long-awaited return to the stage. Bangkok finds itself front and centre on the second phase of his Ubermensch world tour.
G-Dragon, the soloist and style icon of K-pop powerhouse BigBang, is known for his rap flow and kaleidoscopic fashion sense. The king of cool returned after a seven-year, four-month hiatus with his single 'Power', released on October 31. The drop sparked a full-blown storm across the Korean entertainment scene.
Before that, no one really knew what his next move would be – or when we'd ever see him on stage again. Sure, he recently made a brief stop in Thailand, performing as part of a K-pop lineup at K-Star Spark in Bangkok, but it felt more like a teaser than a return. But just as the buzz began to settle, he lit the fuse once more. This time on a global scale with the announcement of his world tour.
When is G-Dragon's world tour in Bangkok?
Though the poster states that G-Dragon will take over Rajamangala National stadium for one night on August 2 2025, he confirmed on his Instagram that the show will actually span one more night, extending to August 3. Exact times and ticketing details are expected to drop soon.
Setlist
The official setlist has yet to be confirmed, fans are already deep in speculation mode. With a catalogue stacked with iconic tracks, there's plenty to choose from. What's certain is that songs from his new album Ubermensch will be on the list, likely woven in with older fan-favourites that have defined his legacy, including 'Crayon', 'That xx', 'Crooked', 'One of a kind' and many more.

How Thailand became a global TikTok superpower

If you've been in Thailand lately, you already know: TikTok isn't just a thing here – it's the thing. More than eight out of 10 Thais online scroll the app every month, ranking us first in Asia and second in the world according to We Are Social. That's double the global average. But here's the tea: the application is basically Thailand's biggest stage. It's not just about lip-syncs, dance trends or that one guy reviewing weird snacks anymore. This platform is a virtual community that spins itself as a variety show, a shopping mall and a global runway. Thai humour, street food hacks and slang can go from niche to internationally viral overnight. Why this matters (more than you think) In a world where mass media is fading, things that used to be hard to promote like small cafes, don't need billboards anymore. One well-timed TikTok from a micro-influencer can create a queue down the street. K-pop may have paved the way for cultural soft power but Thai creators are right behind, serving up their own distinct flavor to the world. Thailand's 13-million-strong Gen Z (ages 12–28) is a hyper-online bunch with a sixth sense for spotting cringe and devotion to authenticity. For them, TikTok isn't just a social app; it's the Swiss Army knife of the internet. It's where you TikTok it instead of Googling, where a single scroll can spark an add-to-cart spree and where travel dreams are born. This is where it gets wild. Thai teens are becoming content creators, influencers and even chart-topping artists before they can legally rent a car. Take BabyJolystar, who kicked things off by making parody skits where he played an entire cast of characters himself, dropping viral slang via Inside Out 2 parodies and livestreaming Roblox (the digital playground for today's kids). Somewhere in between, he cranked out hit songs and levelled up to music stardom. These days, he's swapped some of the chaos for bite-sized educational clips that are just as binge-worthy. Then there's Punch Puntita – the internet sweetheart whose appeal goes way beyond her adorable looks. She's also juggling medical school, proving she's got both brains and charm. That mix of cute and capable made her the perfect fit for ILLSLICK's nationwide hit music video, ' 1 am at khu meuang'. And Dev? He's the style disruptor of the moment. His streetwear fits are what all Gen Z kids want in their wardrobes. One off-the-cuff street interview at Siam Square blew up on TikTok and just like that, his place on the platform's fashion front row was secured. Even ordinary highschoolers are filming their daily routines, from wake-up to last bell and turning their short clips into sponsorship deals. It's proof that simple, relatable content never goes out of style. With just a phone, a ring light and an idea, Thai teens are turning TikTok into a career starter-kit disguised as an entertainment app. TikTok could do for Thai food, fashion and tourism what K-dramas did for Korea. It's already breaking borders – no translation needed. And with Gen Z's eco-conscious mindset, brands with a green story have an even bigger chance to shine. In this country, this app is everything: a search bar, a shopping mall, a career launchpad, a trend lab and a cultural megaphone. For someone under 30s, it's where life happens.

Good grief! A massive Snoopy exhibition is coming to Bangkok

From comic strips to animation, Snoopy has trotted his way into the hearts of millions to become the world's most famous beagle. For more than seven decades, this daydreaming pup and his gang have made people smile across generations and Thailand is no exception. This year, as Peanuts turns 75, the nation joins the festivities with How Do You Do, Snoopy? 75 Years: A Journey of Friendship Through Art. Taking place from September 6-December 7, River City Bangkok will wag its tail with a Snoopy showcase. Four immersive zones will display original works by 25 artists and creative designs from 24 leading fashion brands. There are also more than 50 archival treasures from classic comic strips to beloved animated moments, giving Thai fans an unprecedented deep dive into the character's world. And to mark its debut, the exhibition will also exhibit works by 10 local artists, including 2Choey, Mackcha and Munins, who bring the world of Peanuts to life in all sorts of playful and surprising ways, including paintings and sculptures. But it's not just about looking. A whole lineup of fun activities and interactive experiences await visitors. At the press conference, River City Bangkok surprised everyone with a giant Snoopy balloon floating into the venue on a boat, hinting that there's more to come. This year, Thailand has witnessed a variety of international exhibitions, such as Japanese animation and large-scale installations. However, what makes this one different is how it brings together Thai and international artists to interpret the Peanuts story. Each artist offers their perspective, giving visitors the chance to see familiar faces like Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang in new and unexpected ways.

I-DLE's Minnie and superstar Nadech are star in a new remake where the daily courtship falls on her shoulders

Sony Pictures just handed one of their biggest rom-com properties to Thailand's GDH. If you're not familiar, this is the Bad Genius studio, the same house that got How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies Oscar-shortlisted for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. This Thai production powerhouse now claims 50 First Dates. The 2004 Hollywood original is a pure amnesia romance. Drew Barrymore's Lucy wakes up memory-wiped daily while Adam Sandler's Henry relives the same courtship ritual. Love on permanent reset yet still choosing each other every sunrise. But in Thailand's version, love rewinds in a whole new way: he forgets, she recalls. The casting doubles down on surprises. Thai-born I-DLE's Minnie Nicha leaps from K-pop stages to her first film role. Opposite her is Nadech Kugimiya, Thailand's eternal heartthrob and box office guarantee, whose film Death-Whisperer 2 became the highest-grossing Thai film of all time in 2024, raking in B825 million. Behind the camera is Mez Tharatorn, whose credits include co-writing How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies as well as hits like The Little Comedian, The Con-Heartist and I Fine… Thank You… Love You. Since the announcement, everyone's talking about cultural translation. GDH rarely does shallow remakes and we already see them reshaping the core story. What changes when the weight of memory shifts from her to him? When daily wooing becomes her task? How will American dating quirks bend into Thai courtship? How will Hawaiian beaches translate into Thai landscapes – and which ones? Cities, mountains or coastal escapes? We can only keep guessing but the wait won't be long. Cameras roll this October, eyes on the big screen in 2026. With Sony Pictures handling worldwide distribution, Thailand surely has earned global trust and is eager to show the world how love unfolds on its streets every single day.
