Steph Curry Says He Knew Bronny James Was Special As A Toddler: ‘He Going Somewhere'
Steph Curry has competed against LeBron James on the NBA's biggest stage, but this week, he shared a far more personal story, a reminder of just how far the James legacy reaches. During an appearance on the '360 With Speedy' podcast, Curry recalled seeing Bronny James as a toddler and instantly recognizing something special in the way he moved. Years later, Curry is watching that same kid suit up in the league—and like many around the NBA, he still can't believe how fast the moment came.
'I remember how athletic Bronny looked that night, couldn't have been more than three or four,' Curry said on the '360 With Speedy' Podcast. 'And how fast he ran across the court, I'm like, 'He going somewhere.' And now to see him in the league is crazy.'
At 37 years old, Stephen Curry has been in the NBA for the past 16 years, enough time for him to witness a whole new generation rise up in the league. Arguably, the biggest reminder of his experience is playing with Bronny James, the son of his biggest NBA rival (LeBron James). Steph first saw Bronny as a toddler—and now he's sharing the court with both father and son after James Jr. was drafted in 2024.
As Steph witnessed first-hand, Bronny did not have the typical path to the NBA. Unlike most prospects, Bronny was born into basketball royalty thanks to the status of his dad, who has been one of the game's biggest stars since before he was born.
Since he was old enough to dribble, Bronny has been living and breathing basketball, putting in a lot of work to live up to his family name. While he doesn't have the same body or natural skills as LeBron does, Bronny was still able to earn his place in the NBA, and expectations are rising for the 2025-26 season.
For his part, Bronny has been putting in the work to maximize his development through stints in the G-League and NBA Summer League. He may even make an appearance in the Drew League as another way to get some run-time against pro-level players.
With career averages of 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists, it's clear that James Jr. still has a long way to go before he's satisfied with his game. But at just 20 years old, he has more than enough time to expand his arsenal and become the kind of high-impact player that teams across the league are looking for. Of course, with three years left on his current deal, Bronny still has plenty of time to earn a bigger contract in the NBA.
For Steph Curry, who has spent nearly two decades battling the best, Bronny James is more than just another young prospect; he's a living symbol of basketball's passing torch. What started as a blur of energy from a toddler sprinting across the floor is now a growing NBA career, built under the brightest spotlight in sports. Bronny's story is still being written, but one thing's for sure: he's going somewhere. This story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 25, 2025, where it first appeared.

Watch: Rams players find our their teammate's Madden ratings
The "Madden NFL" player ratings are here for the newest iteration of EA Sports' popular video game, and Los Angeles Rams players aren't too happy with some of the numbers. The team interviewed a few of the players about their teammates' ratings, including Davante Adams' overall rating, Jared Verse's speed rating, Kyren Williams' trucking ability and Tutu Atwell's speed. Adams got a 91 overall score, which both Jordan Whittington and Puka Nacua said is at least nine points too low. Verse and fellow edge rusher Young debated who has the higher speed rating, too, and the answer may surprise you. Williams, meanwhile, was pleasantly surprised by his trucking score. Check out the full video: In other "Madden" related news, Matthew Stafford earned a player rating of 88, while the Rams' rookies fell between an 68 and a 72. Tyrol Pickleball Expands U.S. Distribution with Kittridge & Associates, Strengthens Market Leadership with Life Time and Dan Patrick Partnerships
NAPLES, Fla., Aug. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ - Tyrol Pickleball, the industry's first and only footwear brand purpose-built for the fast-growing sport of pickleball, has announced a major step forward in its U.S. expansion: a new sales and distribution partnership with Kittridge & Associates, a nationally recognized sales agency with a 21-person team credited for building brands like OOFOS across the U.S. Founded by performance footwear veteran Kevin Huckle in 2018, Tyrol has built its brand on specialization: footwear only, for pickleball only. With countless hours spent playing on the hot courts at the National Pickleball Center in Naples, Huckle and his wife Sharon, simply could not find a shoe that was built specifically for, and would accommodate, the unique and rigorous kinetic movements of pickleball. It simply didn't exist. Huckle found this unacceptable and got to work to create Tyrol. The brand's four foundational pillars — comfort, stability, breathability, and injury prevention — are the result of years of research into the sport's unique biomechanics. Unlike tennis shoes, Tyrol's shoes are engineered from the ground up for lateral movement, torque resistance, moisture drainage and unprecedented durability. Tyrol's credibility in performance design recently caught the attention of Vibram, the world's premier outsole maker. Vibram selected Tyrol as its pickleball footwear partner, a testament to the durability and innovation behind the brand. "Our partnership with Vibram says it all," says Huckle. "They're the best outsole company in the world, and they chose us — the only footwear brand built exclusively for pickleball — to carry their name in this category." Key commercial milestones in 2025 include: Exclusive footwear sponsor of The Life Time Open, a newly launched elite tournament backed by PPA and MLP. The October event features an unprecedented $250,000 in total prize money, including $50,000 to both men's and women's champions, attracting the best pickleball players from around the world. Media partnership with The Dan Patrick Show via iHeartRadio, positioning Tyrol at the center of sports culture and fandom. Patrick, a devoted pickleball player himself, personally sought out the brand due to its unmatched focus and performance and launched this partnership at the recent NFL Draft in Green Bay, WI, where players, coaches and media were introduced to the Tyrol difference. "As the sport of pickleball explodes in both recreational and competitive circles, we're seeing footwear become a true performance differentiator," says Huckle. "Our partnership with Kittridge gives us extensive reach in the U.S. and ensures retailers can tap into this fast-growing, equipment-hungry customer base." With a centrally located warehouse in Indianapolis, and operations in both the U.S. and Canada, Tyrol is poised to become the dominant name in pickleball footwear. Retailers, event sponsors, and media partners looking to ride the sport's explosive wave now have a dedicated, proven brand to turn to. Former Sixers big man Dwight Howard ranked No. 63 on all-time list
For one season in his Hall of Fame career, Dwight Howard was a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. The 8-time All-Star served as the backup to Joel Embiid in the 2020-21 season and helped the Sixers earn the No. 1 seed in the East before falling to the Atlanta Hawks in the East semifinals. In his one season in Philadelphia, Howard averaged 7.0 points and 8.4 rebounds and nearly a block a game coming off the bench. He fully embraced his role as the team's backup center and was a positive player in the locker room day in and day out. He wasn't the dominant superstar he once was in his heyday, but Howard was certainly capable of producing. HoopsHype put together a ranking of the top 79 players in the history of the game with Howard was ranked No. 63 on the list: At one time, Dwight Howard was the best big man in the NBA, an era that lasted for multiple seasons during his time with the Magic. Howard was an awe-inspiring athlete for his size, who would often sky for rebounds, block shots or finish alley-oops. Like Gasol, Howard was another glaring omission from the NBA75 list despite being a Top 11 rebounder ever, ranking 15th all-time in blocks and having three Defensive Player of the Year awards. But that might have to do with him not being that well-liked by coaches and teammates during his time in the league. Howard was also a huge playoff performer, coming up big both when he was a star with the Magic (he impressively led them to the Finals in 2008-09) and as a role player with the Lakers, finally winning a title in 2019-20. Howard's one season with the Sixers wasn't particularly memorable, but it's clear that his impact on the game's history has been recognized. He is one of the best centers in NBA history and he should receive the respect he deserves as such.
