The San Antonio Spurs drafted Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant, and then signed center Luke Kornet in free agency, although they are not done making moves.

At least, they shouldn't be.
With three roster spots left and plenty of trade assets, the Spurs could pull off a deal for an established star, with hopes still hinging on Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The fanbase is incredibly divided regarding who is "untouchable" or not. Some say that players like Jeremy Sochan are a central part of the team, and others are begging for him to be traded for anything.
However, two assets are rapidly losing value, and they need to be flipped soon: the draft picks the Atlanta Hawks owe the Spurs in 2026 (swap) and 2027 (unprotected). Those assets were once prized by fans and the team, although they should be moved sooner rather than later.

The Hawks lost Caris LeVert this offseason, but have already added Kristaps Porzingis, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Luke Kennard, adding them next to Trae Young, Dyson Daniels, Jalen Johnson, and Zaccharie Risacher. On top of that, they drafted Asa Newell 23rd overall and picked up an unprotected pick next year from the New Orleans Pelicans.
On August 2, Young will be eligible to sign an extension, and the Spurs should have traded those draft picks by then. In a weak Eastern Conference, Atlanta should be able to post an excellent record and rise up the standings, pushing those picks out of the lottery and into the late first round.
"The Hawks are positioned to go from missing the postseason to a sustainable pursuit of home-court advantage if they can build off last year's momentum," wrote The Athletic's Jared Weiss. "With Risacher finally finding his footing late in the season, the Hawks may once again be ahead of schedule in this rapid rebuild."
Those picks have some value, especially the 2027 one, but once Atlanta locks down Young long term, don't expect San Antonio to be able to land a marquee young talent in drafts to come, and it would simply be better to add a win-now talent to fill positions of need.

Max Shulga discovered Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla pulls no punches on his first day

When it comes to the Boston Celtics, head coach Joe Mazzulla does not pull any punches with his players. And it took new Celtics two way shooting guard Max Shulga less than 24 hours to find that out for himself. Speaking to the media in a press conference to introduce all of Boston's incoming picks from the 2025 NBA draft, the Celtics' No. 57 overall pick took some time to talk with the local press assembled to get a first look at the new rookie class on their first day in the city. Shulga spoke at length about how Mazzula does not sugarcoat anything for his players, as well as what it is like for the former Utah State alum to reunite with Boston big man Neemias Queta, a teammate of his there during their overlapping college days. He also got into what it was like to meet his new Celtics teammates. Aaron Rodgers' Malibu workout photo with several Steelers goes viral

Aaron Rodgers has been making up for lost time — training and building chemistry with several of the Steelers' talented pass catchers in Malibu. In rare Rodgers fashion, the Steelers QB took to Instagram and posted a group photo from their summer workout — which has since gone viral and can be seen below: DK Metcalf previously confirmed there would be a California workout taking place with Rodgers, but it's awesome to see wide receivers Scotty Miller, Ben Skowronek, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, and tight end Pat Freiermuth make the trip as well. Advertisement Missing from the Malibu-based workout was none other than newly acquired Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith — who has taken to social media to post a hype video for his upcoming Steelers season. The Steelers offense is shaping up to be an exciting unit to watch in 2025, but one can't help but wonder if there's still a move or two Pittsburgh can make before the season begins.
