Bentley is one of Rolls-Royce's only genuine rivals, with a mix of heritage, refinement, and quality that are the envy of most other automakers. But unlike Rolls-Royce's relentless focus on rear-seat comfort, Bentley has a naughtier side to it; a side that still wants to thrill the driver and showcase supreme performance. That much has just been proven at Goodwood, with the Bentley Bentayga Speed - revealed last month - setting a new Hillclimb record for ICE SUVs. We also had the opportunity to get up close to this record-breaking super SUV.

Even though conditions were slippery, the Bentayga Speed still completed the challenging hill run in 55.8 seconds, which is almost a second quicker than the older W12 Bentayga Speed. Behind the wheel was Andy Marson, in-house Bentley specialist, who also hit a top speed of 130 mph while accomplishing the feat. The only other SUV to complete the run more quickly was the brand's own Pikes Peak Bentayga, but that was a one-off model modified specifically for this purpose.
Under the hood of the Bentayga Speed is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 making 641 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. The big Bentley has the ability to hit 60 mph in only 3.4 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 193 mph.
Optional carbon ceramic discs, all-wheel steering, and enhancements to the Sport driving mode all work together to make this the most agile Bentayga ever.

We had the chance to capture a few images of the Bentayga Speed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This is a white example with black wheels, and the interior has black upholstery with eye-popping green accents. These accents extend to the dashboard, floor mats, and shift lever.

Sitting on these optional 23-inch wheels (22s are standard), the Bentayga Speed has all the presence expected of a high-end SUV. The brightware has a darker tint than on the regular Bentayga, there is Speed lettering on the doors, and other special details include special Speed headlights with their own dark tint.
Clearly, losing the W12 has done nothing to diminish the Bentayga Speed's prowess, and it's still one of the world's fastest SUVs.

My daughter is 11-years-old and she was crying, she was so scared. "The emergency services were trying to stop all the traffic. The flames were going 20 feet or more into the air — it got so high so quickly." "None of the traffic was stopping — people were weaving around the paramedics, I was even trying to stop cars, then people told me to stop. "It was all going down the side of the motorway. It was chaos, it was like something out of a film." Pictures from the scene show swathes of grass and hedges blackened from the fire. Roads had reopened by 6pm but traffic lights at the interchange were not working as emergency services left the scene.

The Royal Family to Break Nearly 160 Year-Long Tradition in Dramatic Fashion

The Royal Family to Break Nearly 160 Year-Long Tradition in Dramatic Fashion originally appeared on Parade. Practically since the invention of the steam engine itself, the United Kingdom's royal family has traveled via rail lines across the expanse of their island nation. But in a major shakeup signifying the beginning of a new era for the British monarchy, the royals have decided to step away from a centuries-long tradition when it comes to how they get around the United Kingdom, breaking a long-held custom originally introduced by Queen Victoria in the mid 20th century. This traditional mode of transportation favored by the royals originally came about with the introduction of the royal train car during the reign of Queen Victoria in the early 1840s. In the decades that followed, Victoria traveled across the United Kingdom in several different elaborate train cars before an official royal train was constructed in 1869. For the next 160 years, numerous train companies raced to outfit the royal family with increasingly luxurious rail cars, allowing the monarchs to tour their nation in the most opulent manner imaginable. In an effort to scale back living costs and "secure [the] best value for public money,' the Royal Household has confirmed that they plan to retire the familial royal train in 2027. Instead of relying on garishly designed train cars, senior members of the family will instead rely more heavily on helicopters and scheduled trains to travel around the country. The news has been met with both appreciation and heartbreak from average citizens of the United Kingdom. While most have been quick to commend the royals for choosing a less expensive way to travel, some train enthusiasts and historians within the country have looked upon the change with more bittersweet emotions. 'This is incredibly sad news,' said Andrea Rossi, chief executive of DB Cargo UK, which has managed the train on behalf of the British government for 30 years. 'Not just for DB Cargo UK… but for the broader railway family too. 'There is always a great sense of occasion when the royal train is out on the network," said Andrea Rossi, chief executive of DB Cargo UK, according to CNN. "Our drivers take great pride in being asked to take the controls of what is arguably the most prestigious train in the UK and a piece of our national heritage.' Watch Esteban Ocon Tear Up Goodwood In Haas F1 Car

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Haas F1 driver Esteban Ocon is at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, celebrating ten seasons of Haas in Formula One. The four-day event in Sussex sees automotive fans, brands, racing teams, and iconic drivers gather in one place to celebrate speed and motoring. The Goodwood Hillclimb sees drivers take off down the narrow track as the engine note echoes through the large crowds of fans. Haas was present at the iconic event to celebrate its anniversary. As well as Ocon, his teammate Oliver Bearman, team principal Ayao Komatsu, and team owner Gene Haas were also present. A video shared by the American outfit shows the Frenchman smoking the venue with fresh donuts in the VF23 F1 car from the 2023 season. Gene Haas fired up the same car on Friday for his hillclimb run. Revealing his first-hand experience of driving his team's F1 car, he said: Esteban Ocon of France driving the (31) Haas F1 VF-24 Ferrari does donuts during the Goodwood Festival of Speed at Goodwood on July 12, 2025 in Chichester, England. Esteban Ocon of France driving the (31) Haas F1 VF-24 Ferrari does donuts during the Goodwood Festival of Speed at Goodwood on July 12, 2025 in Chichester, England."My first impression of being in the Formula 1 car was that it's very tight in there," said Haas after making his way up the famous Goodwood hill. "There are a lot of nuances you have to learn about the clutch, shifting, and there are a million things going on. The hardest thing to do though is to try to drive a very fast car at a very slow speed." Komatsu drove the VF24 from 2024 on Thursday and Friday. He wrote: "I've absolutely loved today. Yesterday I was a bit nervous because everyone told me this course is tricky, so I drove it very slowly. "Then, when I knew what I was dealing with, this morning I was so relaxed and just enjoyed every second – the process of getting the car to the start line, being inside the car and driving this amazing machinery. "Doing all that in this amazing setting, the Festival of Speed, is such a privilege. I'm very grateful for the experience." Haas has witnessed considerable growth after Komatsu took over the team's leadership ahead of the 2024 season. In 2023, the team finished at the bottom of the constructors' championship, leading many to make purchase offers to Gene. Komatsu pointed out that the team was not for sale. He said before the Festival of Speed: "Honestly, he's seen lots of changes. He's so engaged now. He understands the details as well. What's the best way to put it? He's always been very passionate about the sport and the result. He always wants us to improve, which is what we need from the owner. He was always behind us. "I don't know everything, but in the last 18 months he's had numerous offers to buy the team. He's not interested. He really enjoys being the owner of the F1 team. Currently one out of 10, from next year one out of 11. That's such a privileged position to be in. "He came in at a time when F1 wasn't like this. He stuck with us during such a difficult period of COVID. Now he's enjoying it. "Honestly, Gene's so committed. He's coming here [to Silverstone], obviously. He's arriving Friday or tomorrow and then staying for Goodwood. He's enjoying it. That's the main thing. "We are grateful that we have such a passionate owner, so committed. He's not interested in selling at all. I can tell you recently I had some people really pushing to buy it, [Gene's] not interested. He got even annoyed that these guys are asking so many times."
