Your AirPods are about to get smarter about charging – and you'll thank iOS 26 for it next month

Right now, the AirPods charging case uses an amber light when the case is charging, and a green light when it's fully charged. When the AirPods case is open and the AirPods are inside, the green light on the indicator means the AirPods are fully charged, while an amber light would then mean there is less than one full charge remaining.
It's possible that the amber light indicating that the AirPods charging case needs to be charged may show up even when the case is closed. Apparently, judging by Apple's wording in the iOS code, there must be something new coming with iOS 26 for AirPods charging.
In previous iOS 26 beta releases, Apple added an iPhone notification to inform you when the AirPods need to be charged, which is an excellent addition, in my opinion. The notification may be sent even if you're not currently using the AirPods.
To be honest, I'm hyped about iOS 26 just because of this one simple feature. In other words, even if iOS 26 didn't bring anything else, I'd still be in a hurry to install it. It's just not one or two times I've forgotten my AirPods uncharged, and when they're needed, they're not at their full charge. Get 12 months of Mint Mobile for just $15/mo

Check the Calendar. It's time for this app to get its Material 3 Expressive makeover
If you're looking for a date and go to apps like Tinder or eHarmony, it's possible that you're looking on the wrong app. After all, no app has access to more dates than Google Calendar. And now the Android version of the app is going through its Material 3 Expressive redesign. While some of the changes are hard to find, you can really see the new look in the Month view, where the days are separated with rounded corners as opposed to the straight lines used in the previous version. Also in the Month view, the Google Calendar Material 3 Expressive redesign uses the Dynamic Color feature to bring in colors that are prominent in your phone's wallpaper. Days of the week that need more letters to spell correctly are now abbreviated. The redesigned Monthly view of Google Calendar on the right. | Image-credit-9to5Google In the Day view, the redesign adds containers for the time slots. These lines show up better than the thinner, harder-to-view lines used for the version of the Google Calendar app pre-Material 3 Expressive redesign. The background uses a primary shade of Dynamic Color, which is based on the wallpaper on the user's device. This option, which you can access by tapping the hamburger menu icon on the upper left of the screen next to the Month, and tap on Schedule. This shows you your future schedule, including tasks entered into the Google Calendar app. Again, the background hue is based on the Dynamic Color. My Pixel 6 Pro running the latest release of Android 16 QPR1 Beta has the right version of Google Calendar, but not the makeover. That suggests that Google has to flip a switch to activate a server-side update. To see which version of Google Calendar is on your Android phone, go to Settings > Apps > See all xxx apps. Scroll to Calendar, tap on it, and that takes you to the apps "App info" page. Scroll all the way tot he bottom and you'll see the version number listed.

Michail, 09 August 2025 According to the latest report from the International Data Company (IDC), global tablet shipments grew by 13% during the April-June (Q2) period, reaching 38.3 million units. The growing shipment volume was largely driven by replacement cycles, new device launches, and state subsidies in China. Several brands also stockpiled inventory in anticipation of tariffs, which also played a key role in the rising shipments. Apple led the global tablet market in Q2 with 12.7 million shipments and a 33% market share. Cupertino's base iPad (2025) was the key driver for the brand, which saw a 2.4% year-over-year growth in total shipments. This is when Apple Intelligence gets OpenAI's new GPT-5
Vlad, 08 August 2025 A few hours ago, OpenAI announced ChatGPT-5, the best ChatGPT yet. Since the unveiling, you may have been wondering when Apple Intelligence will incorporate GPT-5, as right now it uses the older GPT-4o. According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple will incorporate GPT-5 into the final releases of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26. All of those are expected to start rolling out next month, which is also when the iPhone 17 family should become official. In Apple Intelligence, you can use Siri to access ChatGPT. Apple's assistant taps into ChatGPT to give answers when it's helpful for your request. You can also use ChatGPT with Apple Intelligence's Writing Tools, and use ChatGPT with Apple's Visual Intelligence with Camera Control to quickly learn more about what's around you. All of these functions currently use GPT-4o but will be upgraded to GPT-5 with the release of the next versions of Apple's operating systems, so you won't have that long to wait to get all of the upgraded functionality in GPT-5.
