‘Breathtaking': Gold Coast property a ‘masterclass' in design
'It's a little slice of heaven,' Colquhoun said.
Set on a sweeping 4.5-acre hillside site at Bonogin in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Prize Home No. 320 features panoramic views, a north-facing orientation and a layout that balances openness with retreat.

Part of a $5 million prize package, the home has been designed to capture light throughout the day, informing both its functionality and atmosphere.
'It's high-end architecture amongst the treetops – luxury in the landscape,' Colquhoun said.
At the edge of the property, a glass-edged heated magnesium pool has prime position in full sun, with adjacent outdoor areas including a basketball half-court designed for year-round use.
Internally, the home includes four bedrooms, private office, media room, gas fireplace and open-plan kitchen, living and dining opening to a covered alfresco area with built-in barbecue and bar fridge. Floor-to-ceiling glazing throughout the home maximises views and natural light.

Architect and presenter Peter Colquhoun.
'It's framing the view of the sky but also allowing the massive frameless windows to give a panoramic, almost cinematic view to the Gold Coast skyline out towards the horizon. It's breathtaking,' Colquhoun said.
Subtle references to Scandinavian Modernism appear in the home's white geometric forms, dark-framed windows and natural timber accents. Passive cooling strategies, including timber and glass louvres, support energy efficiency.
'This picks up prevailing summer breezes, keeping your cooling costs down,' Colquhoun said.
The dream home strikes a balance between clever architecture and environmental awareness.
'It's more than just a home – it's a masterclass in lifestyle and design,' he said.
Mater Prize Home Draw 320 closes in late August.

Rahaman Ali, boxer and brother of boxing legend Muhammad Ali dies at 82
The brother of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, Rahaman Ali, has died. The Muhammad Ali Center confirmed the passing of Rahaman Ali, who died on Friday, Aug. 1 at the age of 82. There was no cause of death mentioned in the news release. "You can't tell Muhammad's story without mentioning Rahaman," President and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center DeVone Holt said in a statement. "He was one of the most constant sources of support for Muhammad during this career and their relationship was a true example of what it means to be 'my brother's keeper.'" The Louisville Courier, part of the USA TODAY Network, mentioned that Rahaman Ali, whose birth name is Rudolph Arnett Clay, went into the hospital on July 19 and remained in hospice care at Norton Audubon in Louisville, Kentucky. Noted in the Muhammad Ali Center's news release, Rahaman Ali followed in his older brother's footsteps and had a professional boxing career of his own, which spanned from 1964 to 1972. At the time of his retirement, Rahaman Ali compiled a record of 14-3-1. "When you saw people walk through the door and they saw Rahaman you would see their eyes light up almost as if they had already seen Muhammad himself," Holt told WDRB, a local Fox affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, about Rahaman Ali and his presence at the Muhammad Ali Center. MLB Speedway Classic was a Fyre Fest-like fail even before the rain
The Major League Baseball Speedway Classic came to an anti-climatic end Saturday evening after heavy rain turned the field into mush and forced the Cincinnati Reds versus Atlanta Braves game to be suspended after one inning. But according to different fan accounts on social media, the event was a giant mess even without the rain. From bun-less hot dogs to cheese-less nachos, Bristol Speedway was more akin to the Jones residence from the classic 1995 movie Friday than it was to a ballgame. "Y'all ain't never got two things that match!" One apparent attendee provided photos of the awful concession food on X, saying the game was "the MLB version of Fyre fest." Yikes. Seriously?? Who thought that was a good idea? And to make it worse, the speedway charged full price for the part-time food, according to the same fan. Other attendees also shared their bad experiences on social media, which ranged from the food completely running out to problems with parking. But hey, at least they get to try it again when the game resumes Sunday afternoon. This article originally appeared on For The Win: MLB Speedway Classic was a Fyre Fest-like fail even before the rain

The Lakers' full 2025-26 preseason schedule has been revealed
It may be the middle of the summer, but before we know it, it will be time for NBA teams to report to training camp and start the new season. About two months ago, the Los Angeles Lakers announced their preseason schedule for the upcoming season. They will have games at Arena versus the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, as well as a contest at Acrisure Arena in greater Palm Springs against the Phoenix Suns and one in Las Vegas against the Dallas Mavericks. Their full preseason schedule has now been revealed, per Khobi Price of Southern California News Group. The Lakers will also play a road game on Oct. 5 versus the Warriors and another one against the Suns on Oct. 14. One thing to note is that the Lakers will have a set of back-to-back games on Oct. 14 and Oct. 15, as well as a total of four games in six games to close out their exhibition schedule. It will therefore be interesting to see how much the team's veterans, especially LeBron James, will play during that stretch.
