Former Man United star Javier Hernandez sparks fury by accusing women of 'eradicating masculinity' and claims they should focus on 'multiplying, cleaning, and sustaining the home'

Daily Mail6 days ago
Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has caused outrage after launching a bizarre tirade against women, accusing them of 'eradicating masculinity'.
The 37-year-old, affectionately dubbed Chicharito by United fans, also claimed women are making society 'hypersensitive' and that they should focus on 'multiplying, cleaning, maintaining the home'.
Hernandez spent five years at Old Trafford, winning two Premier League titles before leaving in 2015.
The Mexican is his country's all-time record goalscorer, with 52 strikes in 109 appearances, and also played for Real Madrid as well as spending two years with both West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen.
He rejoined boyhood side Guadalajara last year but has suffered a series of injuries and seen his game time markedly reduced.
In recent days Hernandez has posted a series of sexist rants on Instagram, also hitting out at societal gender roles.

The ex-United forward has previously opened up about struggling since splitting with his model wife Sarah Kohan in 2021.
And on Friday, he claimed that woman are 'failing' and should focus on 'multiplying, cleaning, maintaining the home.'
In a video on Instagram, he said: 'Women, you are failing. You are eradicating masculinity by making society hypersensitive.
'Embrace your feminine energy: nurturing, caring, receiving, multiplying, cleaning, maintaining the home, which is the most precious place for us men.
'Do not be afraid to be women, to allow yourselves to be led by a man who only wants to see you happy, because we do not know heaven without you. Holding yourselves responsible for your energy is also a way of loving you.'
He added: 'Men, we are failing in the lack of commitment, putting our partners last, not keeping our word, and not prioritizing habits to become admirable.
I understand that we are afraid to speak and truly express what we feel because they are trying to eradicate masculinity, since in certain cases of the past, feminine energy was suppressed, but many of us are here wanting to love you, take care of you, respect you, and provide for you.
'But you women must learn to honour masculinity,' he concluded.
Social media users were quick to criticise the striker.
One wrote: 'Come on, Javier, it's sad to see you like this, please stop.'
Another added: 'This video really makes you [look] crazy. Just to think that honouring the woman is reducing her to taking care of the house.'
Hernandez's latest rant follows another controversial Instagram post from just a day earlier.
On Thursday, in another video, he said: 'So, you want a man who provides, but for you, cleaning is patriarchal oppression? Interesting.'
The post was accompanied by the caption: 'Interesting. (Home is not patriarchy, it's your temple).'
In the past, Hernandez has spoken about his failings as a husband.
'I wasn't the best partner I needed to be, I wasn't the greatest dad that I wanted to be,' he told The Ringer. 'I wasn't a great friend. I wasn't the great human being I wanted to be.'
The forward spent one season on loan at Real Madrid having been shipped out from United
He also said he has struggled with not being able to see his children regularly following his separation from his wife.
He claimed the break up caused him to start a 'very deep spiritual and philosophical path in which I realized that I didn't care what people thought about me.'
The Mexican added: 'I was terrified to make the decision that the marriage was not where it should be and that we had to look for another way.'
Hernandez scored twice and provided a single assist in 22 club appearances last season.

Famed Wanamaker Organ will again be heard by the public in fall art series in Philadelphia

One of the most famous organs in the world, which graces one of Philadelphia 's favorite public spaces, was at risk of going quiet this spring when Macy's closed up shop in the city's storied Wanamaker Building. But countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, the avant-garde opera star hired last year to run Opera Philadelphia, is leading an effort to let the public again enjoy the Wanamaker Organ, a National Historic Landmark-designated treasure. The organ boasts more than 28,000 wood and metal pipes hidden behind a soaring wall of gold-leaf pipes that frame the building's seven-story marble atrium. Costanzo, with $1 million in philanthropic funding, is organizing a series of public performances this fall — including opera, ballet, theater and drag — before renovations begin next year on the building's conversion to a retail and residential hub. The first event is set for Sunday, Sept. 7. 'John Wanamaker, when he built this Grand Court, said he wanted it to be the intersection of arts and commerce, and that's why he put the world's largest pipe organ into it,' Costanzo told The Associated Press in an onsite interview Thursday evening. 'This space is operatic,' he said. 'So I thought it was a perfect umbrella to bring in every arts organization I could, and all these different collaborators.' The organ was made for the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Wanamaker, a successful merchant and civic leader, had it moved to his new emporium next to City Hall in 1909 and then hired a crew of 40 pipe makers to enlarge it so the sound filled the vast space. A decade later, famed conductor Leopold Anthony Stokowski performed there with the Philadelphia Orchestra as 15,000 people crowded into the great hall and mezzanines. With the merchandise now gone, the acoustics rival those of the great cathedrals, Costanzo said. 'The organ for the first time is in perfect cathedral acoustic condition, so it will be the best way to hear this instrument in the history of the space, because there's actually nothing in there,' he said. The building's new owner hopes to continue to incorporate art and culture into their plans, which include retail on the lower floors and office and residential space above. The organ adds unique challenges. 'You've got this organ music going in the grand atrium, but meanwhile you've got other uses on these upper floors looking into that space, so you have to figure out how to make that work for everybody,' said Jon McMillan, a senior vice president of TF Cornerstone, the New York-based development firm. Local civic groups, in an announcement Friday, said they hope to raise funds to bring back one of the city's most beloved annual events, a holiday light show that drew generations of families to the store. Costanzo, who continues to perform around the world, believes he can build enthusiasm for the arts by bringing it to the places where people gather, including the Wanamaker Building. And he hopes that, in turn, will help people find a way to connect with each other. 'This space is so deeply embedded in the emotion of Philadelphia,' Costanzo said. "I want them to come to Wanamaker and discover something they've never seen before.'

Ruben Amorim offers Manchester United ‘bomb squad' a way back

Ruben Amorim has offered Manchester United's 'bomb squad' a way back into the group and insisted they will not be sold on the cheap. Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho and Antony have all been left behind in Manchester as United take part in a pre-season tour to the United States after claims from the club that those players, and Marcus Rashford, who has joined Barcelona on loan, told them they wanted to leave. Despite that position, with the players training alone in Manchester at the club's Carrington training base, Amorim said he has no issue integrating them back into the main group and they will only be sold for the right fee. 'Some players have to find a new place to have more space in the team. Other players clearly show that they want a new challenge and they want new teams. So we are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide. If you reach a point that they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players. And I know for a fact that Omar [Berrada, the chief executive] and Jason [Wilcox, the director of football] have a number for these players,' Amorim said. 'If they don't reach that number, they will be Manchester United players. No doubts about that. I understand that the clubs are maybe waiting for the last minute, but they can have surprises. And I'm ready to receive the players. 'They have more competition. If you want to play in the World Cup next year you need to play so I'm really happy with that because I have more options. If they have to fight each other to play, for me it's perfect.' United have spent nearly £130million on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford respectively, but still haven't managed to bring in a specialist No9 despite the chronic lack of goals last season. The club managed only 44 goals in 38 Premier League games but Amorim, who is preparing his team to play West Ham United on Saturday in New Jersey, is happy to go into the new campaign without a new striker with hope that Cunha and Mbeumo can bring goals to his side. 'I think our club in the moment, we need to be really careful when we sign a player. So if we have to start the season with this squad, I'm happy. Because all the players that are here want to be here. With Brian and Matheus, we are clearly a better team.' Amorim said. 'They [Cunha and Mbeumo] can play as a striker. We have Josh [Zirkzee], we have Rasmus [Hojlund], so our focus is to improve the connection between them.' For Cunha, who joined for £62.5million from Wolves, the pressure will be on to bring goals to the team and, after a dismal 15th-placed finish for United in the previous campaign, if they don't hit the ground running at the start of this season the scrutiny will be intense. But the playmaker, who said he had options to move to clubs competing in the Champions League, is not fazed by the spotlight. 'I really think the pressure on this club is not really pressure. It's a privilege, because this is one of the biggest clubs in the world. When we will come to me and show all the projects that I have to put the club in the perfect times again, I feel like it's a challenge that I want to do for my career,' Cunha said. 'Of course, like a striker, everyone thinks about scoring goals. It's the most important thing in football. I completely understand the situation [about the lack of goals last season]. It can be part of my name to come in, goals, assists, and then everything around this. I feel comfortable. I hope I can do my best.'

Ruben Amorim ready to involve Manchester United ‘bomb squad' if prices not met

Ruben Amorim says he is fully prepared to reintegrate Manchester United's 'bomb squad' if the outcasts cannot be offloaded this summer. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia have all been omitted from United's pre-season tour of the United States amid potential moves away from Old Trafford. United are under pressure to sell to help realise more funds to reinvest in the squad after already splashing £140m on Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Diego León. But Amorim has claimed the quartet will be given a route back into his squad if prospective suitors fail to meet their valuation of the players. And the United manager believes the fact there is a World Cup at the end of the season will ensure players cannot down tools. Asked how important it is that Garnacho, Sancho, Antony and Malacia find new clubs and United have money to reinvest in more signings, Amorim said: 'I think that is not the case because there are different reasons for the players. 'Some players have to find a new place to have more space in the team and other players clearly show they want a new challenge and want new teams. 'We are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide. If we reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players. 'I'm ready to receive the players. They have more competition, more competition if you want to play in the World Cup next year you need to play. 'So I'm really happy with that because I have more options. If they have to fight each other to play, for me, it's perfect.' Did someone say rondo? 🤹 — Manchester United (@ManUtd) July 25, 2025 Marcus Rashford has already joined Barcelona on a season-long loan and some of the other bomb squad's suitors are thought to be biding their time amid the belief that United will have little choice but to sell. But Amorim insists the club have a set price for each player and that rivals may be in for a 'surprise' if they think they can be acquired on the cheap. 'I know for a fact these people, Jason [Wilcox, the director of football], [chief executive] Omar [Berrada] and the club, have a number for these players. 'If they don't reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that. I understand the clubs [interested] are waiting for the last minute but they can have a surprise.' Nonetheless, United are expected to accept less than the £60m Garnacho was valued at earlier in the year. Chelsea, Aston Villa and Spurs are interested in the Argentina winger, who wants to stay in the Premier League. Sancho, who is out of contract next summer, could leave on loan. Antony has attracted interest from Real Betis, where he spent last season on loan, among others, but clubs have so far baulked at the €45m (£39m) fee United set at the start of the summer. United face West Ham at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday as Amorim steps up preparations for the new Premier League season. Amorim has still to sign a new centre-forward, which was a priority heading into the summer, but claims he is happy to start the season with the squad he has. The Portuguese is also in the market for a deep-lying midfielder and a new goalkeeper, but has warned the club can ill-afford to sign the wrong players. 'I think our club in the moment, we need to be really careful when we sign a player,' he said. 'So if we have to start the season with this squad, I'm happy, because all the players that are here want to be here, and that, for me, is the most important thing. 'Diego is a different situation, he's a potential player, but with Brian and Matheus, we are clearly a better team.' Fernandes could play in deeper midfield role Amorim said Mbeumo and Cunha were both capable of playing as strikers and that the immediate focus was on improving the 'connection' with his existing centre-forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. 'They can play as a striker but we have Josh, we have Ras, so our focus is to improve the connection between them. 'I don't know if the position is there for them, they have to work, they have other players that are fighting for that position. 'They had other options, Champions League options, and they read everything people say about our club in the moment, but they chose to be here, and that is a key point for me.' United's worst campaign for 51 years has cranked up the pressure heading into the new season but Cunha, a £62.5m signing from Wolves, says pressure is a 'privilege'. 'I really think the pressure of this club is not really pressure, it's a privilege,' he said. 'When Ruben comes to me and shows all the pressure that I have to put the club in the perfect times again, I feel like it's a challenge that I want to do for my career. 'I don't think about being perfect at the start. Honestly, I think to be myself and help the team. I'm very comfortable to be here, I'm very comfortable with the pressure right now and I hope everything can be better too.' Amorim has also given the clearest indication yet that he plans to use Bruno Fernandes in a deeper No 6 role more often next season. 'It can be, we can change during the game, but I think Bruno, we miss Bruno sometimes when he's playing as a number 10, and sometimes when he's playing as a number 10, he can't get the ball,' Amorim said. 'So think it's a good position for him, I really like when Bruno has the ball, and if you have the threat of players like Rasmus, Matheus, Bryan in the space, if you have a player with the quality with Bruno, without pressure on the ball, I think it's really important. It gives us more options, but he can play in front also, so we'll see.'
