Winnipeg police investigate 5-vehicle Monday morning crash on Ellice Avenue
Officers were called to the scene after an incident around 9 a.m., when four vehicles stopped at a red light on Ellice Avenue and Banning Street and were hit from behind by a 2007 Nissan Qashqai, police said, causing significant damage to all of the vehicles involved.
The Nissan driver, a man in his 70s, and a woman who was a passenger in his vehicle were taken to hospital in unstable condition, although they were later upgraded to stable. Police said none of the other people involved in the crash had injuries severe enough to end them to hospital.

Traffic investigators continue to look into the incident, and no arrests have been made.

The man bought the jewelry and soon discovered it was not genuine and contacted police. On Aug. 4, 36-year-old Catalin Feraru was arrested in connection with the incident and has been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and fraud over $5,000. Story continues below advertisement Suspect wanted In another incident, a man was walking in the 500 block of Toronto Street on Aug. 1, when he was approached by a suspect carrying costume jewelry and a gift. The suspect used a distraction technique to remove a gold chain from the man's neck and replace it with a fake one. The man eventually realized what was happening and confronted the suspect, who fled in a vehicle. An arrest warrant has been issued for 31-year-old Ionut-Vasile Bivolaru, and anyone who has information on his whereabouts or may have interacted with him to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS.

Bracebridge murder suspect confirmed dead after arson, police say
A man wanted in connection with three deaths and arson at a home in Bracebridge, Ont. Friday night, has died, police say. The 29-year-old was one of the people found dead in the home, OPP said in a Wednesday post on X, formerly Twitter. He died of smoke inhalation, police said. Police say they responded to a report of gunfire around 8 p.m. on Beatrice Town Line Road on Friday. They arrived to find a 60-year-old Bracebridge man dead and the house engulfed in flames. The cause of his death was a gunshot wound, they said. After investigating, officers confirmed two more people were found dead inside the home, which was destroyed in the fire, OPP said in a news release Sunday. Police said Wednesday post-mortem examinations confirmed one was the 29-year-old suspect, who was wanted for murder, and the second was a 59-year-old woman of Bracebridge, who died from a gunshot wound. A shelter-in-place was in effect for Bracebridge until 1:45 a.m. on Saturday. Later that day, police said there was no threat to public safety. 'I don't see any significant progress there on the inmate's part or any significant interventions that might say this fella is better,' Russell said.
